| VERY NICE model. The roof fits so seamlessly that it doesn't look removeable. OF COURSE, the thing that makes it SO COOL is the BEAUTIFUL paint job. As always, VERY WELL DONE! | |

| Hold the phone man! You buildings surpassed the ridiculous point! Damn! How do you manage to paint the STONES on the wall and floors (or the roof tiles for that matter) with different tones? That is unbelievable! I'm starting to build some terrain (for Death Squads and 40k) and I can definitely drink from the fountain of knowledge! You got any tutorials on the subject on your site? BTW... THANKS for the poster tutorial. Very informative. Amazing work man... just $%@&! amazing! | |

The first time I painted these stone walls was on the Forge World stable. I tried to write down the colours and "technique" in the stable post: http://cianty-tabletop.blogspot.com/2009/03/innstable.htmlThe roofs are still painted the same way as I did for the first building, the Blue Wolf Inn. It is indeed described here: http://cianty-tabletop.blogspot.com/2009/03/innfamous-wolf.htmlThe key is simply to be patient. Try a few different colours and take the time to paint at least around 3/4 of all stones/bricks/shingles individually. Individual colours really make a difference. But it can get very tiring...

| %#&$&@!!! Patience?!? I screwed! That is like asking for a recipe and getting "The secret ingredient is LOVE!"
 I will read your tutorials and do the best I can. I'm still building, so I have some time to gather... errrr.... patience.

| First time I've taken a poke around the scenery gallery, and this is what I've been missing out on! Amazing work! I hardly have the time to dedicate to building and painting my models, but the amount of time and care you must put into all this terrain-building is incredible! I wish someone in my group was able to tackle the task of building awesome terrain. I've always kind of wanted to work on scenery but time and storage space are my #1 and 2 limiting factors. Can't wait to see the whole town put together! You should post some in-game shots amongst the town as well, always adds character to have an encounter going on in the midst of your terrain! | |

I do. You can see diorama-style photos in the Gierburg Miniatures Painting Log thread by Tom.

| Streets of Gierburg (Test)I recently did a test piece for a streets section out of foamboard. I am not satisfied with the result and will look into using something else, still I thought why not put the pics up here. What do you think? | |

| Well, you're the ONLY one that has to be happy with the results, but I think it looks PRETTY DARN COOL! Even if you never gamed on it, the diorama like photos with some fluff stories could be an hobby in & of itself. | |

| There are two things I am unhappy with:
1. The carving/structure: I will try again using insulation foam, which can be carved much better. It takes ages to carve a section of this size so I will most likely make a master and then cast it up in resin.
2. The painting: I just don't like the colours at all. I will have to try again and experiment a lot more until I find the colours that work better.

| HEY!!! Is that woman trying to flash ME? Or is she doing to every guy that is looking? Wait.... wait, wait.. THAT was a diversion Cianty! Very sneaky. This is about the terrain! Very cool road man! How do you make the cobblestones to get different shades? You dry-brush some of them one color and others another? Seems VERY time consuming. The results are amazing! | |

| Ha ha ha! Kudos to Admin Tom for an awesome paint job on the wench. And yes, "No Time" is absolutely right.. it doesn't even show on the pictures above...
Also yes, I did paint the cobblestones individually (after basic drybrushing) and yes, it takes extremely long. But just as with the brickwork or roofs of my buildings I deem this absolutely neccessary for a good result.

| Impressive result ! I agree with you, the colour are nice but seem lighter than real cobblestone floor, perhaps you have to make them darker But I find the carving good, I don't see what makes you not happy with this | |

| Cianty, I've always looked up to your scenery and this street section is not an exception! Both modelling and painting look very good to me, but as DeafNala had already said, you are the one to be fully satisfied with it.
By the way, have you considered placing some small details on the street, like, for instance, small pieces of garbage, grass (small patches somewhere between cobblestones), broken bottles, moss etc.? Knowing the quality of your highly detailed buildings, I've got no doubts that it would look even more amazing.

| I think the Good Kapitan has something there. How about some sewer grates or maybe a section with missing stones & a puddle? | |

| Thanks, Kapitan! Yes, of course, this would add to the piece. But as I said, this was just a test piece for me to experiment with the material, carving technique and painting. This is a throw-away piece and not intended for anything else other than increasing my experience. I will definately add some more details to the finished street pieces later on, like fallen off posters, bottles, grass, cats, bodies... | |
