| Thanks, guys!
Also special thanks for info, Al! I just checked it on Chrome. Unfortunately the nice site of Senji Studios seems to have caught a virus triggering warnings in Norton and Chrome. I have removed all links to Senji Studios and now it works fine again.

| Work on the gaming board continues with the Port of Gierburg Part 1: A Water Board. The above blog post describes a somewhat painful way of creating a water section for double use as part of a port as well as a board for piratey boarding action scenarios. Also features a product tip for styrofoam suitable colour spray and an underwhelming experience with Vallejo Foam & Snow effect. Enjoy. | |

| NOT BAD AT ALL! I've never really been satisfied with my own water effects. Those that have turned out well are by pure chance &, as such, can never be duplicated. That aside, viewing it from the distance a player would it looks PRETTY DARN COOL! | |

| That is SPLENDID. The planks between the stairs are particularly nice...this is going to look GREAT. EXCELLENT WORK! | |

| Again, thanks, Al! I really can't wait to paint this piece. The overall "shape" is obviously rather simple but with painted cobblestones, stairs and the jetty I think it will look quite nice. | |

| Lovely stuff and thanks for your Blog ... I was tackling the same issues ("Seefolie") and found great inspiration there.
I did use a product from "Faller"; it has a sub-par size, but it was the only product I could get my hands on here in Austria - but it worked out fine, as it is quite sturdy and has a nice "ripple"-texture. I used "Citadel" white PVA to hold the "Seefolie" in place. At first it looked awful as the PVA did not dry up, but after about 2 weeks (!) it was perfectly transparent.
As a base I used rather thick polysterene (about an inch thick). I tried out a technique recommended by Faller which is applying nail polish remover on the surface (not much). It melts the polysterene away and leaves some sort of natural looking trenches, giving the sea board much more depth ... you have to be careful not to reach the bottom of the polysterene sheet.

| That is an IMPRESSIVE piece. The muted shades look perfect for a dockside scene. VERY WELL DONE! | |

| Beautiful models and scenery. For some reason the warehouse with the opened upper door has struck my fancy. Must have more warehouses in our pirate towns.
I hope you have some battle reports that feature the harbor for us soon.

| Amazing! I really love the whole work you did there! I recommend everyone to check the actual blog entry as it has loads of interesting and useful information about where to get some of the terrain features from and other bits and bobs. Really looking forward to some more photos (I know, I'm greedy!). Joao | |

| Thanks, guys! There will be a mini pirate campaign (three games or so) soon when a friend comes visiting me in mid November. I need to get cracking to finish some things in time though. | |

Absolutely beautiful!

| Thank you, two!
Now I really need to get cracking and make at least one other fourth of a 4' x 4' table to make it at least somewhat big enough to play on.

| The doks section is wonderful. The water color is fine, but it looks a little bit like the water is boiling.
But nevertheless great job.

'course! Cuz the thang is hawt! Seriously though, I see what you mean. It's hard to properly see the effect on photos. It's somewhat different in reality. But I am not too happy with it anyway. Next time I'll use gloss varnish instead.

| Talking about your way to make water, your version (which looks nice enough for me) makes me think about another way to simulate water. It's probably stupid and I can't imagine I'm the first one to think about it but... Wouldn't it be easier to cut hammered glass at the right dimensions and glue it to a nicely water textured paper seenable through it (excuse my english!)? A hammered glass like the first one on the left, for example... Would this be ugly? I really want your opinion(s) about it. Oh.. And I'm always sad when I see your pictures because I've seen them too late to make my cement like yours on my Tabletop World houses (seenable HERE). It's much more realistic and beautiful than my own way to paint it... too sad! Do you think it's still possible for me to use your method on my "finished" models? I'm affraid this wouldn't fit my scheme... Sorry to bore you but you're one of my references in the art of using existing models on amazing homemade tables! Your opinions have undeniable values for me! Opinions of the other friends of the forum are more than welcome too, of course! | |
