Well, scratching together all militia bodies I had left, I started to create a pirate warband. The following are just some quick shots so you get an idea

A pirate from the distant lands of Cathay, though he has been quite a while with the crew and his Cathayan dress were all rags so he is now dressed like the others. He will be likely serve as Mate:


He will most probably named Blackbeard or Redbeard or Greybeard, depending on how his beard will be painted. Apparently just announcing a toast (the thing in his hands is a mug of beer), he secretly plans to cut your purse (and yourself, too, when he's at it). He'll probably be the second Mate:


This young pirate (will be Cabin Boy) is eager to find some treasure (he is actually shouting "Look! Treasure! Over there!") and always carries his shovel with him, just in case he'll find an X somewhere:


These are two gunners:


And this is Silent Jack (perhaps I will find a better name than Jack), you don't want to know where he got the fine clothes... I don't know what he will be, likely ordinary crew or boatswain:


Well, that's it for the moment. I am currently dismantling my Imperial Cannon Crew to get some more bodies

This looks pretty fine. I look forward to more! May I ask where is the shovel from?

It's from the Empire Volley Gun sprue. I bought it at some of the online bits shops. If you are looking for one, I think the Dwarf Cannon and WH40K Weapon Teams might have some as well.

Nice work - it's always good to see a pirate warband, and models converted into pirates always have a lot of character. I love the first one, the Cathayan one. Is that head from one of the White Lions in the High Elf Chariot kit?

yeah, that came out of the new H E chariot..

But... these rifles you used with the bayonet/daggers attatched... are those the new empire handgunners? I might need some myself in that case!

Yeah, as you said it's the charioteer head. I've got the other one as well and perhaps his brother will join the crew, too...

And I' pretty sure the rifles are from the new handgunners.

Nice use of the Empire pieces to make some unique AND VERY Piratey minis. The one "concealing" the sword behind his back [clever, eh what?! ] is my personal favorite. Too bad the "new" Empire stuff doesn't have separate torsos & arms like the "old" Empire minis; oh well. there ALWAYS the trusty [& rusty in my case ] razor saw [from HELL!].
THIS is going to be ONE ubercool Warbad. KEEP'EM COMING![OR ELSE !]

Actually, they do Only their torso and legs are a single piece.

Just had another idea for your bases: add bolts to the planks to create a more shiplike feeling on the planks

I suppose First Mate Knuck-Knuck Bushytail is either getting sick within a parcel on the way to me or lying in the aforementioned parcel on my desk, being glad not to be sick anymore and waiting for me to get back from work

Yeah, he's at my home now, waitng on my newly conquered painting desk (I claimed my first hobby room ever two days ago!). When I'm back home, I'll ask him whom he likes most and after he's been given to his new friend, he's hopefully going to be painted in the not so far future.
