River Img_7710

these are four 6" x 6" boards
total 2' x 6"
they connect between my other boards
made separate little boards so that they can be put in any order to add some variety
they are 1" and can be flipped for flat dirt and grass surface (e.g. so that trees or town walls can be added) (not shown); that's why nothing protrudes above the wall line
to be built later: a bridge
it's only a slight elevation change on these boards but they provide partial cover and change line of sight
water is water based clear gloss from hardware store, added a bit of green for last coat; think you can see the stones from river bottom through

4 shots to try and show the minor elevation variations on boards

comments & questions welcome Smile

PS I now have enough fully completed boards for my full 7' x 3.5" table
and I have enough buildings to fill every board
except I don't have a table that size built yet to display everything all at once Surprised
soon I hope...

Um, in the Dakotas we call that a crick. Still I hear you have a drought out there in Californy, so you might have a different perspective.

Whatever you call it, you have done a fine job of modeling  thumbsup

The is a river here in Central Texas, the Pedernales River, that has suffered from a number of years of drought. It looks just like your river; meandering its way between the banks it used to fill. EXCELLENT WORK!   thumbsup

Is it going to be a river inside the city or outside the city? When you paint it greenn do you paint it before you gloss it or afterwards? Beautiful stuff. I like how its aa patch work of water and earth and not pure water.

flipchuck: thx
totally late response (apologies)
1. river is "outside" the "city" boards but you'll see when I post the whole board
the rocks/stones are dark brown with 2 layers of drybrush
1st level of clear gloss has green acrylic paint mixed in
3 layers of straight clear after
it was an experiment for me...there may be a better way...
