| I found this guy on Ebay. He's going to be one of my Engineers. I think he's a crew member from the classic metal Helblaster. Nice model! This model is now all nice and clean, but the layer of paint was soooo very thick that his puffy sleeves were perfectly smooth (and twice as big, too)... Just to give you an idea, just ceaning him took me almost a whole hour (and the skin of three of my fingertips). I've also assembled some Archers... In true Stirland style, these guys swapped their bows for guns. Obviously, these guys are from the windy part of Stirland... The Archers contain parts from several different kits (cloaks from the Outriders, bodies from the Archers and guns from the Handgunners)... The models will get some additional details (like pouches, ammo and stuff). The unit can be used as a stand-alone unit (so I modelled a Marksman) or as Detachment for one of the main infantry units. Thanks for watching! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think | |

| I love everything you do, but representing Str3 weapons with Str4 AP weapons is kinda like proxying a steamtank with a wooden cart. The models are awesome, but I'd scratchbuild some thin, hide-under-your-cloak type of rifles instead. Shouldn't be too much work, and could represent Str5. Or just have mechanical bows of some sort, but that's a lot of conversions! xD You could probably just file down the rifle barrels, if you wanted to. Theo | |

Thanks! The only problem is, I am quite a big fan of the oversized handguns. As Handgunners aren't allowed to skirmish, I don't think there will be many issues regarding their identity... - Quote :

Yes I did, but he was part of a larger set... I purchased two classic Great Cannon and two classic Helblasters with all their crew for around €20,00. Not bad, considering I immediately sold the two Helblasters (without crew, I kept those myself) for €17,50... I have a sneak peek of what's coming... This collection took me a couple of months to gather, but I'm almost done... All classic models, most of them found on Ebay. I still need one more Mortar (there is already another one on it's way). If all this is finished, Stirland will have A LOT of firepower... My battery will include ten Great Cannon and six Mortars. I already have four Cannon and a Mortar painted. I know I'm normally not allowed to field ten Cannon, but they are needed for my campaign. In 'regular' 3000+ points games I can (and probably, on occasion, will) field six of both my Cannon and Mortars (only a 1000 points for those twelve big guns). And then there is my Helstorm and Helblaster... All these guns will be attended by a couple of Engineers (one per two guns), to prevent misfires and make the guns even more accurate. With the new rules it's really amazing what carnage you can cause with but a single Mortar, I can scarely imagine what I could do with six of them... Thanks for watching! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think...

| I don't see a problem with the handgun-archers, as you say, they will be skirmishing so can easily be told apart from their ranked brothers. Well, that and their heroic capes fluttering in the breeze | |

| Update time! I've updated my Flagellant unit. In recent games the unit of 20 models just proved too small and died too quick (might have something to do with me sacificing them all) and being unbreakable doens't help that much if you're dead... I expanded the unit to 30 models. If it wasn't for the size cap I most likely would have exanded them even further. With ten models more and deployed six ranks deep, I hope they will last a turn (or maybe even two) longer... The unit, including the enlarged unit-filler... The old unit filler, made a couple of months ago... And the new unit-filler... Bigger is better, right? I based the unit-filler on my Artillery base (60x80mm). No big changes, I only added three more Flagellants to help the first guy drag the statue around... The view from above shows how the unit-filler fits in with the rest of the models... The Prophet of Doom (and his puppet)... Thanks for watching! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think... | |

| I was thinking the same thing about gaming purposes...you're gonna lose ranks fast if some models get killed this way... may not be the best tactic, but yeah, it does look cool! Also, for gaming purposes, why not make it a horde unit? that way, you'll increase the damageouput significantly and they'll probably have more chances of staying alive even without being 40 models big? | |

Thanks! It's size won't be a problem. As more models are removed as casualties they can also be used to replace the unit-filler... - Quote :

Thanks! The Little Puppet Dude was part of a trade I had with Seifer-NL. For a while I toyed with the idea of giving the puppet to my Arch Lector on his War Altar, but decided against it because that would have meant removing his cool hand with the raised fingers... Furthermore, such a little puppet would have been lost on such a big model. - Quote :

Thanks! I thought about making them into a horde, but with the big unit of Sisters they would have been the fourth horde in my Stirland army. It just wouldn't have fit in my deployment zone... With the enlarged unit-filler it's not even a real option as it just won't fit. - Quote :

| dang! you already have 3 hordes going? how much points army do you play? and what are your other hordes? I desperately want to try out a horde with my high elf spears, but using that to it's full potential would mean at least 40 elves, and that would probably really hamper the rest of my army points wise (we usually play 1500 pts battles as the other guys don't have more models... :s I wish I could just field my entire army once (roughly 4500 pts) | |

But I do have more, roughly 4000 points and that's without any Characters... If I add those I could easily stretch that to 5000 and beyond (which is quite shocking, considered that I started the army only seven or eight months ago). Most of the army isn't painted yet, but most of it is ready for battle. Fortunately my table is big enough for that kind of battle I have a horde of 40 Greatswords, a horde of 40 Halberdiers and a horde of 40 Sisters (who have yet to be tested in battle). The Greatswords and Halberdiers have already fought in a score of games and have proven their worth. They are vulnerable to certain types of magic, but can take a beating in combat and still come out on top...

| Update time! My vacation has started, the weather sucks and my wife still has to work a few days so plenty of time for the hobby! I've continued work on my Helblaster... I changed the Master Gunner and added some clutter to his base. I drilled out the plaster barrel (very carefully) and added 'gunpowder'. My Sisters are also done... My horde of Sisters... I was forced to swap several of the hammers as the person who sold them to me removed the comet icons (something I only noticed after a coser inspection). It's not a big deal as it adds a bit of variety to the models. A close-up of the unit-filler... I know it's only one little girl, but I think it's the best possible option. It's a bit like the famous killer-rabbit; looks can be deceiving... That, and she reminds me of my little sister (A LOT!!!), the expression on her face is just spot on! I constructed a foursome of Engineers. I have no immediate use for them, but I really like Engineers, so I made them anyway... The Engineers... Armed in a variety of ways, they can be used when needed. Mostly plastic, the parts come from several different kits. A close-up of my favorite of the four (I especially like his raised finger)... This Engineer uses the arms of the mounted Engineer. I also added some mounted reinforcements... I added five Outriders to my army. I already had these models assembled (from my previous attempt to build an Empire army from a couple of years ago) and just had to rebase them... I also swapped a few heads. I added a small unit of five Pistoliers... I decided to use a mix of heads to tie them to the rest of the army. I will add another unit of Pistoliers to the army. More updates coming soon! Thanks for watching! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think... | |

| Thanks for the feedback! There have been no updates the last few weeks as I've been spending some time with my scenery, but the brave men of Stirland get some nice reinforcements... Tiny update! May I introduce you to Lord Engineer Oppenheimer from Leicheberg... He will be the new Engineer watching over my Helstorm Battery (hence the name). Last week I ordered a set of Imperial Guard Regimental Advisors. This is the first model to be converted. Inspired by the conversion in the WFB Rulebook I really wanted this model in my army. I tried to add puffy sleeves to the model with Green Stuff, but failed miserably... So I cut away all the IG icons, his holstered pistol and his right hand (holding his gloves). I gave him a sheeted sword from the plastic Greatswords and replaced his hand with one from the plastic Steam Tank kit. The hat is also from one of the plastic Greatswords. With the further addition of a couple of pouches this model looks like he belongs in the Empire... Also... The Cavalry is here! Here are my twenty Outriders... A big unit of ten Outriders including the Steamcoach unit filler and two smaller units of five Outriders each. Here are my Pistoliers, or at least the first ten... I intend to field them in three units of five, one of them with an Engineer (who can also join one of the Outrider units)... All the units have a nice and sturdy custom-built movement tray and will be magnetised as soon as they have been undercoated (which will be soon). Thanks for watching! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think... | |
