| Greetings! I wanted to start this as a wip, but its going to be kind of a continued work in progress and campaign log for my first warband as I venture into mordheim (been waiting for 15 years for it). I present, the Wolves of Stirland! Baron Viren Louis Dubois is not a young man, quite the contrary. An old knightly figure in Stirland, brother to one of the few families who didn't fall on hard times (mainly due to a few generations ago, the family was formed when a questing knight from Bretonnia fell for a noble lady of Stirland after one of the many Slyannian campaigns.) he is a man destined for adventure. Always with a strong wanderlust, Viren found himself in his youth carried from the knightly orders of the Empire to serving as a mercenary when times grew less violent. Now he has started a family of his own, however his wife fell in the battle of childbirth for their daughter Emeline, leaving Viren to raise her on his own. His brother encouraged a form of sisterhood with his daughter (her cousin) Alexandra in hopes her noble side would win out however it had the opposite affect, luring Alex into a thirst for adventure as well. Now, in his advancing age, Viren grew restless. Both his allies, and his rivals were starting to succumb to old age, with many of them passing into the cold embrace of death. Unwilling to accept this eventuality or even the possibility that age could ever stop him, Viren took advantage of the recent events in Mordheim to launch a quest for personal honor and glory, and the local Barons of Stirland were all too keen to throw their support behind even such a brash man for the promise of wealth and riches to an impoverished people was too strong a lure to resist. Many of his old friends, such as Maximilian answered the call of his old friend, and both his daughter and niece insisted they join, both wanting to prove themselves. Emeline who had grown tired of trying to earn her respect through dueling possible suitors and Alex who wanted to become a legendary mercenary like the fabled Catrain Cartwright who Viren would always speak of, having been one of his old flames and mother to Emeline. Here is Baron Viren Louis DuBois, The White Wolf of Stirland. He has a very Don Quixote vibe to him and is very well equipped. Armed with a sword, shield, light armor, pistol, and a lead lined greatcoat (wolf cloak) (Counts as Mercenary Captain) Next we have the long time veteran 'war buddy' of Viren, Ser Maximilian Cromwell, the Black Hound. A man who was enjoying his retirement however, he could not refuse a call to arms and glory for Viren and gladly took up his greatsword, although he swore it felt heavier than he remembered. He is armed with a greatsword, pistol, heavy armor and dagger (yay for the 'welcome to mordheim free dagger') (Champion) with a scary str 6 greatsword strike out of the gate. The Lady Emeline Louisa DuBois. A young lady with a drive for adventure rivaling that of her father, covered in dueling scars. Often takes to wearing an as of yet unnecessary eyepatch like her father to preserve visibility in one eye when going into the dark ruins of the city. She carries one of her father's old cavalry sabre's (sword), and dagger (Champion) Lady Alexandra Catrain DuBois, named in honor of her aunt Catrain, unfortunately for her father she seemed to share her drive for adventure. She is armed with two daggers, her father having rejected formal training in hopes he could steer her towards more ladylike behavior, she manages to get by with her wit and guile. (Youngblood) Gregory Attaire DuFrain was a fellow nobleman, from the DuFrain family, one of the servant families to the DuBois lineage in Bretonnia, in Stirland they joined the DuBois estate and continued to offer their services. Gregory was a younger man who acted as a squire to Viren, and was all too keen to join his friend in battle. Like Alex he carrys two daggers into the fray, relying more on a flurry of blows than skill to bring down his opponents. (Youngblood) William deCorbeil is the family swordmaster who lended his time honed skills teaching Emeline in the art of the blade. He is both eager to see how his young student performs as well as answer the call to glory for himself, hoping to prove his skills once more. He is armed with a sword and dagger. (Swordsman) Otto Brancford, along with his brother are professional soldiers in the employ of the DuBois family. Formerly mercenaries from Viren's glory days, they are eager to earn their living one bolt at a time. Armed with a crossbow and two daggers. (Marksman) Marco Barncford, the other brother, armed the same way. (Marksman) Last but not least is Franco Booker, a soldier from Stirland sent from the noble's supporting Viren's crusade. Until he proves his quest is worthwhile he was the greatest investment they were making outside of helping cover the costs of logistics for the venture. Franco however is as professional a soldier as they get and eager to prove he is more than the token commitment from the other families. (Warrior) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First week Report: We started out with 5 man free for all to start the campaign. The wolves of stirland, a Monk Warband, Ork Warband, Undead and Skaven. (more players are joining next week). It was a mighty battle, which saw it draw towards a long time limit due to the 'last man standing rules' in effect for the scenario, the skaven, monk and orc warbands routed, and only the Wolves of Stirland were left against the undead horde, tying them for the winning slot (tied for 2nd for the league). In the battle, Maxmillian Cromwell finally fell after slaying a black skaven and it's ally. He died swinging in glorious combat, earning himself a good death (but at 115 gold crowns, a painful investment to loose week 1). Alex took out an ork boy but was knocked out by a blow to the head by another shortly after, her experience however left her hardened and now immune to the fears of the city, proving her mettle is as strong as the best of them, also she leveled up gaining +1 ws. Emeline, even with the underdog bonus didn't manage to earn enough experience to level, same with Viren who did manage to slay an ork himself. Gregory managed to while doing nothing productive, earned himself +1 wound! Hardy little youngblood William deCorbeil managed to earn +1 LD. Otto proved himself the better marksman of the two and gained +1 Bs Marco on the other hand, always ready to protect his brother earned +1 attack. And last but not least, Franco Booker proved how badass spearman can be... taking out 2 orks and a skaven on his own... First he was charged by two orks, but thanks to his spear struck first, and kebabing the ork (crit with alternate tables we use) running him through, and pushing himself 3" out of combat, meaning now return blows were struck and setting up the warband for a beautiful and devastating counter charge. He defiantly proved why he earned +1 Ws that game. after the battle we also found an overturned cart with a fake mordheim map. Also a new champion will be joining the warband armed with a sword, a mercenary from middenheim who answered the letter Viren wrote him. One of his old friends from Viren's mercenary days. As well as Viren, after seeing his friend fall in battle, and Alex having earned her place, commissioned her a suit of heavy armor. Which allows me to replace her model with the one on the right. And last but not least, the scraps from Maximillion's armor were remade hastily into a suit of armor for Franco Booker, reinforcing the armor he already wore. (for the purposes of the campaign running it as 'toughened leathers' to represent the scrapped suit of patchwork armor) Will keep updated on progress and painting progress for the new wip champion as well as additions as they come! Thank you for your time. | |

| Thanks! I hope to make better and more pic heavy battle reports as I progress but kind of got behind on this log as I had to reinstall windows and kind of been dragging my feet on that for a week... sorry lol.
But yea so far been a blast to work on and play with! I'm excited to see where they go next! although loosing Maximillan week 1 was defiantly a painful hit, as even if I wanted to replace him with a model gold for gold, would have cost ALL of the gold I had in my coffers, well ok with 1 gold crown to spare. But yea.... I decided to just place him with the honored dead and move on, he was an old man and managed to earn a bit of glory before he went out swinging, you can't ask for much more than that. At least he didn't die to a skaven sling or never having a chance to get a kill.

| Nice Stirlanders! The vagaries of early losses are always hard to bear, but I find that you just need to push on, and have it be a part of your warbands' story. For example, my middenheimers lost the captain in the first game, and my undead enemies claimed him him with the resurrection spell, so grudge-matches galore are in the works | |

| Thanks! They were a blast to model and paint. Kind of went over the top cause I Had a month and a half to prepare for our mordheim league and it felt like the days were crawling.... took only a week to get all but Viren himself (who took 4 weeks of shipping from the GW warehouse in the UK) and the display board I knocked out in a couple of days too. I just had so much fun with each like William deCorbeil was a fun kitbash using legs from an old dark elf warrior. They fit extremely well and one of the best way to get a chainmail surcoat without doing much greenstuff work. Admitedly, all but the one piece models from reaper and Viren himself (who does have an added shield on his back) were all kitbashes mostly from the empire greatswords, state troops, free company, and empire general kits, with a few random bits added. | |

| Last night had a fun battle vs the only other human warband in our campaign, monks from cathay. I had found a fake mordheim map after last battle, I should have known it was written in a knaves handwriting but the promise for adventure was far too much for Viren to disregard its words and it turned out the knave did have some wit about him (opponent got to choose scenario and chose chance encounter. I rolled a 5 giving my group 3 shards of extra wyrdstone while he had only found one in his searching...turned out the false map wasn't as foolish as Viren initially thought) I won the initiative deploying first all preparing to head back through the inner gates out of the old noble's district back to camp, however we had never noticed the cathayan monks having come from the other side of the gate, looks like we choose the better place to search (you would assume the noble quarter having more look right?) The monks deployed close and the fighting got heavy fast with the mounted cathayan noble charging through the gates! He was cautious though and placed himself close but in an ideal position to charge the next turn, however three of Viren's men could get the charge, Franco the vicious spearmen, Alexandra and the new addition to the party Percivel Pendrake (more on him after I paint him, wasn't expecting to loose a hero week one). The noble saw the spearman as a threat, probably due to the fear of 'pikes' vs cavalry, so he struck Franco down knocking him on his back, Alex however who proved herself a fearless warrior before, and having just gained new confidence thanks to Viren's gift of a custom suit of heavy armor (Viren's brother would kill him if he allowed what happened to Max to happen to Alex), struck him low with a mighty set of blows from her daggers. Although the blows were not deep, the armor of the mounted noble even though proof against all else was no help against the lucky strikes bringing him low. Both Otto and Marco pinned down the most dangerous looking of the monks, keeping him knocked to the ground (stunned and thankfully too as that was the one with frenzy) however the monks poured in and it turned into an all out melee. The battle happened far too quickly, Viren taking a blow to his head once more and slipping back into a slumber (seriously second time hes been knocked out of action with full recovery, I think hes just looking for an excuse for an old man to take a nap) and Franco was brought down by an angry monk however both Alex and Emeline brought low too of the rampaging monks forcing the army to rout (failed on an 11 ._.) and carrying the day for the Wolves of Stirland. This time my post game was far more fortuitous, neither Franco nor Viren suffering anything for falling in battle, and quite a few level ups. Viren leveled up dispite taking a nap gained an extra attack. Emeline gained a new skill, and judging from her desire to rush into battle, gained sprint. Alex gained two levels getting two new skills, Step aside and Resiliant. Also after the battle Alex went on a personal quest for glory, traveling to one of the old forgotten battlefields of Slyvannia where her grandfather faught bravely in search of the family's lost sword. (was a successful middenheim wolf cloak search but also another hero rolled a 12 on rarity so it turned into an epic venture for Alex.) she managed to find the lost family heirloom and brought it back, whereby Viren said she had done far more than enough to prove she was the rightful heir to its glory. (Basically the DuBois family sword is a claw of the old ones, a sword that gives +1 str and ignores armor saves ._.). Also on the way back, she made a stop back home in Stirland to see her father, sharing the tales of glory so far and being the doting father made sure before she went back the local armorer would weave chain links into her cloak lining (wolf cloak) as well as send her along with a new ally from Stirland to join in their cause (a new hired crossbowmen) The crossbowman from my backlog of potential change models/new hires which if I draw from saves me time from painting and lets me throw them in quick for changes. But yea in Short, Alex has turned into quite the badass youngblood already! Shes immune to fear, now ws 3 instead of 2 making her competent. Has a sword which ignores armor and strikes at +1 str, wears a suit of heavy armor and wolf cloak so 5+ save, 4+ vs ranged attacks. In melee she has a 5+ step aside save, and is at -1 to wound her, sometimes better than +1 toughness. | |

| Today we had a mighty battle vs an Orc warboss who fancies himself the king of mordheim, what a foolish greenskin indeed! The battle was to get in our players non event game of the week, I had already had mine so this wouldn't count for or against me however as is always the case with Mordheim its a blast to play. That said to keep things fair and keep players from going wild on such games that don't count, such as character hunting etc, some special rules are in effect. (unfortunately not everyone shares the same level of chivalry as some like the Wolves of Stirland!) For this game, starting at turn 4, my warband had to start taking rout checks as though It had fallen below 25%. For the scenario, we got lucky and got one of my favorites, TREASURE HUNT!!! The Wolves Got the initiative and got to choose deployment sides and deploy first. Here is a quick survey of our battlefield, it was made to look like one of the outer districts close to the city gates. It was a fun setup with alot of blocking terrain and plenty of places to search for hidden loot in the ruins. I chose to deploy on the left flank, Percival and Emeline took the far left, relying on her for speed and Percival for searching the closer buildings. Viren took a moment to have words with Gregory, friendly idle jesting about the rumors they heard of the Cathayan noble who Alex laid low a few days ago arriving back at the monks camp stark naked, robbed of all his goods but at least with his skin still on him. Alex took a moment to listen to Swordmaster deCorbeil, she was very proud of recovering the family broadsword and was eager to learn how to better use it. Franco, ever the proper soldier was off guarding the flanks and Marco and Otto set themselves up to get a good vantage point to view the area and provide covering fire if needed. Otto and Marco were quick to call out the impeding danger of the approaching ork horde but most were out of earshot. William and Alex rushed forward onto the outcropping, they hoped to get both a view of the orks and see if the promised treasure was left here, but the thought that their foes were close were much more on their mind than any notions of greed. Meanwhile Emeline and Percival rushed forward, as well as Viren and Gregory joining them. They were unaware of the encroaching danger and were all too happy to talk fanciful tales of what could be this 'treasure' that was written on the 'not as fake as first thought' map, or at least where he thought he remembered it was, he had lost the map in the previous battle (it was only good for one game so yea... we will say he misplaced it, or perhaps a thieving magpie made off with it) The team on the right, seeing the orks drawing closer moved to intercept them... they would have to hope the song of steel on steel would rouse the others from their daydreams. Viren, finally hearing his crossbowmen barking out towards them moved around the building to try to get his ears closer to the pair to hear what the commotion was about. Emeline, jealous of the attention of her cousin charged the orks at first sight! Suprising Gregory who couldn't keep up. The Battle on the right quickly grew intense with the wolves being surrounded!!! In a dramatic display or orkish cunning, a bigun lept over the well diving at Emeline, however her skills with a blade, as well as her new suit of armor, sheild and helmet proved proof against his onslaught! The Warboss watched his boys squabble down below as he moved to try to get the literal drop on Viren!!!! However, an Expert shot from Marco clipped the warboss in the leg and bringing him low! The ork shaman overhead banged on the building, shouting cheers for those below as his magical energies summoned forth gork, or was it morks favor? But even with 'ere we go, successfully going off, it wasnt enough to stop the pair as Gregory brought down one of the boyz. The other still standing in the back squabbling and barking orders, trying to take over after the boss fell. Franco Booker was finally brought low and in a fit of rage after being charged by the bigun who took down her friend, Alex knocked both orks down! William deCorbeil, not willing to be outdone knocked his foe down as well!!! With the Wolves having the next turn it would be an easy cleanup! The Left flank as well was fighting hard, Viren had tried to join the fight after but was quickly brought down by an onstalught from the Bigun. A goblin, seeing a bigun leap and charge tried to make a similar move but would up falling gut first into a fence post and knocking the wind out of him. The pair quickly brought low one of the orks in revenge as the shaman backed off the building to try to join the fight. It seemed like the Wolves were about to carry the day!!!! But as it came time for their turn... BOXCARS!!!!! It was not meant to be, the Wolves, sensing the fight was not worth continuing the Wolves withdrew to help Viren draw back, even William and Alex realized that now was their best chance to get away and ran with the others. In the end the day was in the hands of the orks! However the battle didn't cost the Wolves anything, the orks however weren't as lucky, the wound to the leg kept him from fighting in the next game!! He will miss Mondays event battle T_T poor guy. Other than that all his guys were good, save for a goblin who got mouthy and was sacked (got 'this lads got talent') But yea! That was the quick and dirty battle, a good warmup for mondays game! | |

| Thankies! yea our league we do one 'event battle' on monday nights, usually something special or thematic or story intensive with special bonus's, sometimes with many players and I hear talk of even an event with giants in the works (the store didn't built up 6 giants not to use them ._.) Then every player can have up to one additional game that counts during the week. Since our mordheim group mostly in active only in the fall each year (I'm hoping to do more after that) we are all very encouraged to play, and well we also all put in 20$ in the leauge that the store does pay out 100% in prizes at the end of the campaign to encourage people. I mean the game is fun enough as it is but some people need that extra edge, plus I mean, its not like that doesn't go back to the players in totality.
Anyway, I can't wait for monday!!! Should have another battle report and progress report by then or Tuesday at the latest! Also have to paint up Ser Percival Pendrake.
And consider what I'm hiring next, I chose not to hire the marksman and instead invest this week in armoring up the team as well as giving Alex that epic sword. But I am at a bit of a loss for who to hire next, its basically between a Tilean Marksman, Tactician, Elven Ranger or Road Warden. Tips or suggestions would be more than welcome!

| So mondays battle was brutal for the Wolves lol. It was a 4 man free for all with a few npc groups that we could earn campaign points and gold for killing (groups with bounties on their heads) The table was set up as so. I got the bottom right corner for deployment. We deployed around the tower in the corner, getting as far out of the deployment area as we could, but there was an ogre nearby in the ruins....and Alex was a bit, headstrong. Grimick's Boyz, our ork player deployed on the bottom left corner. Our new player to the campaign, the Restless Dead player deployed in the far corner. And the monks deployed across from us Alex couldn't resist approaching the ogre. The chance for glory vs such a powerful foe was too much of a draw and despite William deCorbeil's protesting she charged forward! A bolt from Otto connected but failed to penetrate the heavy armor of the beast. Unaware of the fight behind them the group advanced forward, they heard a wizard casting spells in the tower in the center and knew that would be a grand bounty indeed. Alex was quickly laid low to the backswing from the fiend's anchor (a str 6 great weapon attack ._., not even her heavy armor was proof against it, and she failed to step aside) Viren as well was brough low (our gm rolling for the npcs wouldn't stop rolling 6's all game ._.) As well as William deCorbeil By the time the monks arrived to aid the Wolves of Stirland, 3 had fallen and again the Wolves chose to live to fight another day. (by the start of turn 3 the Wolves routed off the board.) The battle was fun to watch after and the end results were a few xp here and there, Gregory leveled up and got +1 ws, making him now grand in his own right as well as the rest are almost all poised to level after the next match. Alex made her armor save ignoring the injury (in our campaign we house rule to make armor actually valuable, as well as black powder weapons and axes, armor saves are modifyed starting at 5 for -1 instead of 4 and after the game if you can make an armor save, body armor only, no shileds, wolf cloaks mounts etc, you can ignore the result on the table.) alex would have gotten horrific scars causing fear but saved against it while Viren failed to get a save and the anchor to the gut opened up an old war wound. William deCorbiel fell in battle T_T however on the search results we found prisoners and found a swordmaster to take his place (still have to paint him up though), as well as now 132 gold to spend and for rarity rolled another 12 meaning I can snag an amulet of the moon for alex as well ._. | |

| Wip of my new replacement swordmaster to replace William deCorbiel, since I got him for free from prisoners, Viren was all too happy to have a new sword willing to fight for glory, I used some gold to equip him, and decided why not just go overboard and give him a sword, helmet, shield and heavy armor. | |

| First a closeup on the new members to the Wolves of Stirland. Percival Pendrake, the champion who replaced Maximilian Cromwell. A warrior from Middenheim who fought alongside Viren in the Slyvanian campaign who finally arrived to mordheim after receiving an invitation for glory from his old friend. Mordred Aster, a Swordmaster from Reikland, who was captured during his time in mordheim until the Wolves of Stirland Rescued him, then he threw in his lot with Viren. And last but not least, Reginald Lottwood, a Tilean marksman who was all to willing to throw in his lot with the Wolves, for the right price. Today, we met Grimick's boyz again searching the city for treasure. This time though both sides decided it would be a battle for control of the area. Grimick who has named himself king of the city wasn't about to let these feather headed 'umies contest his turf and the Wolves had to purge this greenskin menace. We rolled to control territory so the center 4 structures counted, although seeing as it was lasting til turn 8 or first rout, we knew that wouldn't really matter. Here is the table, it was a rainy day in mordheim, and we chose to search in some of the more open center of the city. The Wolves won deployment and chose to deploy conservatively, we realized the majority of the fighting would likely be in the center around the buildings we needed to control so most moved there. Alex, Viren, Gregory and Mordred all taking up the center. On the right, Emeline, Percival and Franco deployed spreading out to see what Grimmick's boyz would do. On the left, the brothers Otto and Marco deployed on a set of ruins as well as Reginald taking up a nice vantage point in a ruined building. And the finished deployment of the Wolves. Grimmick's Boyz deployed over a large area with his goblin horde on one side and his hero's on the other. The Orks elected for the Wolves to take the first turn. The Wolves moved forward in the center, Emeline using her speed (sprint is scary ._.) To join up with the others. It became clear early to Viren that he would divide up the orks into two flanks to deal with them one side at a time. Not wanting to show my hand and to get some reconnaissance in, Franco and Percival took the long way around the ruined tower. Otto and Marco, realizing their vantage point wouldn't be as ideal moved to another to help close the gap and get better lines of fire to the center where the main battle would take place. Slowly Grimmickz boyz moved up but they were not a fan of the rain, or having to fight the feathered 'umies again and many squabbled with themselves. (many failed animosity rolls.) As the Wolves were tasked with moving again, they started to consolidate in the center as the rain poured down (sorry about the shots, its from my cellphone, eventually ill drag out my digital camera but for now out of focus due to rain storm ..... cause yea.... stormy weather >>...dont judge) The shaman started to pound his staff on the ground yelling to his boyz 'letz go, letz go! as he cast his dark magicks. Marco, seized the moment as the ork was distracted and sent a bolt into him, and even though the shaman was tougher than before (TOUGHNESS 5 now! ._.) he managed to lay him low and took him out of the game. His shot struck deep and after the battle it turns out he rolled multiple injuries, and suffered an old war wound and has to sit out the next 2 games!! Well on you Marco! The Wolves started to move to their left flank, choosing to avoid the small goblin army headed their way and go after the bigger orks instead. The orks were closing fast but Viren was committed to his plan as he started to concentrate his forces on the left flank as he let the boyz advance towards them. Reginald, eager to earn his pay sniped a goblin from his perch. The orks were closing in fast!!! This battle was going to start to get bloody and quickly! As they closed in a hail of arrows from the goblins rained into the Wolves position, Franco could do little as he was knocked to the ground by a volley (damn Bs4 goblins, all of them got it ._.) After standing, Franco moved back towards the others, we were ready!!! A scary sight to behold as the Orks closed in on Gregory! And as the rain started to pour harder, A SUPRISE ORK ATTACKS FROM THE GRAVEYARD charging in on Percival!!!! As well as Grimmick himself charging into Gregory!!!!! And Franco being surrounded!!!! As the rain fell harder, so did Gregory. Despite his two wounds, he was no match for Grimmick, his great weapon and his anger for having sat out the last game thanks to a shot from these Feathered Freaks. Percival as well was stunned by a smack from the ork's halberd! The Wolves started to look like they were in a bit of a pinch! Franco was ever the professional soldier and not even the rain could loosen his grip on the spear, even with two against him he managed to draw the fight into a stalemate. Emeline charged the ork boy and both Viren and Alex, moving in lockstep charged Grimmick! Mordred wasn't about to let his new companions fight alone and rushed to Franco's side! Otto wasn't about to let Percival fight alone and threw down his crossbow and charged the ork!! Quite the heroic move but thats what a Stirlander does!!! As the combat raged, Percival was hit and stunned however Otto kept him from being written off! Mordred proved his skill with a blade and knocked one of his foes down! Not to be outdone, one of the Ork boyz knocked Franco down! The combined might of Viren and Alex brought Grimmick down on his back!!! And in a display of Morkish cunning, a volley from the goblins in the center brought down Reginald who was not keen on sticking around to be shot at and fled (taken out of action but survived in post game so we will call him a coward, or rather proving discretion was a valorous quality for now) Finally Franco was brough low as a goblin charged in to aid the ork boyz, but Franco took his last breath at the hands of an ork! Using all the fury he could muster, Otto took his two daggers and sank them deep into the orks hide, bringing the beast low and saving Percival in the process! WHAT A HERO!!! (for a henchman) With an expert swing and the fury of seeing his new ally cleaved, Mordred dispatched a greenskin! Now that another was not in combat, Marco took his shot and knocked the beast on his hindquarters! The fight continued as Viren swung at Grimmick and with a mightly blow spun the ork around and stunned him!!! Leaving Alex the honor of plunging the family blade into the ork's hide to bring him down. And with their leader brought low and the ork boyz taken down, Grimmick'z boyz chose that the this land was not worth fighting over leaving the Wolves to carry the day!!!! Franco unfortunately died and joined Maximillan and William in the Honored dead. The only other injurys were Gregory suffering an old war wound. In the end the battle was grand and there was much for the Wolves to celebrate. However their haul of treasures was meager, the real grand prize was Viren finding a lance in the abandoned home of an old knight. For levels, Viren leveled and gained +1 Toughness. Percival leveled and gained a new skill (Mighty Blow). Lady Emeline leveled and gained +1 Attack. Alexandra leveled and gained a new skill (horsemanship). For henchmen, Otto leveled and as proof of his courage he gained +1 Ws! Quite the soldier! His brother Marco also leveled and gained +1 BS proving he was as much the marksman as his younger brother. With rarity rolls, we got an 11 ._. meaning that after emptying all the coffers, we can afford a Warhorse for Alexandra (Should go well with that lance Viren found), as well as a lucky charm for her. Once again, Alex grows exponentially more bad-ass with each passing game ._. Now she is ws3 (so not bad for a youngblood), immune to fear (hardened), she has step aside (a 5+ un modifiable save in close combat), Resilient (enemies at -1 str to wound her in close combat), can ride a warhorse now, which when combined with her heavy armor, and wolf cloak as well as her tear of the moon goddess gives her a 4+ armor save, 3+ vs shooting with enemies at a -1 to hit her (cancels out the large target for being mounted) and has a 4+ save vs all missile fire. And on the charge she has an attack from her lance and one from her sword which is at str +1 and ignores armor saves............. not bad for a youngblood.... | |

| The mounted model is the Epic version of Alexia Ciannor for warmachine. Also quite a bit of progress and two battles last night!! The first battle didn't count for me, but the monks needed a quick catch up game before our monday night league match (especially since their leader had to sit out a game so he really wanted to get this one out of the way.) We met the monks on a small farm on the outskirts of town, The Wolves of Stirland had been camped there as Alex as well as a few others were learning the quick and dirty ways of fighting from horseback. While the cathayan noble was recovering, the impetuous officer took over and wanted to deliver a punishing blow to the Wolves of Stirland. The Wolves won deployment and chose the left edge. Alex and Emeline deployed on the far right, confident their combined speed could get them anywhere. Percival and Viren were close to the center. Marco took up position on an old farmhouse, Mordred and Gregory close. Otto and Reginald took up positions to cover the flank. The monks, still confident in their suprise attack started to hide in the rows of fencing... Before springing forth into a battle formation on the Wolves left flank, keen to keep out of range of the crossbows. Alex and Emeline darted forward to get a good view of the monks and exchange a few words with the Officer in charge. Given Viren and the others a chance to consolidate and approach. The monks however were not keen to risk charging the 'sisters' and set up defensively hoping the two lady's thirst for battle would send them in however they chose to join the others. Now seeing the opportunity Emeline charged a monk put forward to bait the others, her skill with a blade dispatching him before he raised a hand in defense, as Percival joined the fray on the right. Marco finding a shot hit his mark and stunned one of the monks. The officer and monks charge foward, trying to seize on the opportunity that presented itself as the others charged Viren and Mordred. Emeline was brought low by a blow from the Officers katana, meanwhile Percival stunned one of the monks in kind. Alex refused to let her sister fight alone and charged the Officer!! Meanwhile Gregory charged in and dispatched the monk in aid of Percival. The officer, suddenly realizing the day was not to be his and failing to rally his men routed, leaving an unofficial victory for the Wolves! (game didn't count for my campaign or experience, but let me test out Alex on horseback) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The main event of the Evening was a grand battle (we had 6 players so two separate 3 man battles) Rumors had spread of a great treasure left in the city, although rumors often spread, this seemed to be far too good to risk not investigating so the Wolves set off to find out if the words were false. For this event, a treasure chest was placed on the top of a building and the goal was as with treasure hunt to get this chest off the board on your deployment zone. For our battle we were joined once more by the monks, the Cathayan noble finally healed and ready for combat as well as the Skaven, with their enhanced speed. The treasure (seen represented by the small blue token) was on the top of the central spires. The Wolves took the far corner and quickly darted out! Alex taking point to see what she could on the battlefield. The monks took the corner to the left, and the Noble rushed up, using a tree for cover as his battle formation moved behind him. A scary sight! The crossbow trio took up position in a tower with perfect coverage of the treasure lest anyone foolish enough to climb and try to nab it! And as Alex moves into position, two foolish nightrunners could be seen making a break for the tower! The others started to advance! As Emeline rushed towards the tower, hoping to be the first to scale its walls. Emeline's hopes were dashed as the Noble seeing his chance darted in and before she knew it was laid low by a spear in the back!!! (the rocks made it hard to model so we used a stand in and just placed the horse nearby to note it) Meanwhile the skaven made for the ruins as the two nightrunners managed to scramble up the wall before Alex could bring her lance to bare against them. Meanwhile the monks set up for the impeding battle with the skaven, they knew they would have to break them if they were to have any hope of breaking through should those nightrunners manage to make off with the chest! Alex again wouldn't allow her sister to be in battle alone rushed to her side and charged the noble! However her fury left her blind and she failed to connect. The two rats who made it to the top quickly found an error in their plan, now having no cover vs the crossbows and were both hit by a volley of fire, knocking down one and stunning the other! As one stood he decided to abandon his ally who was still laying down cursing at those archers and tried to make off with the chest himself however....as he slung the chest over the side...he realized the error of his ways as the weight of it quickly took over and pulled him over the edge, and as he fell he landed on the unwelcoming arms of the chest and knocked the wind from him. The officer, clearly with fire in his eyes at Alex's rescue at the farmstead charged in and brought his katana low upon her back, the shock was such that it kocked her off her horse (Stunned, yes alex who had a 4+ lucky charm, 5+ step aside and a 4+ armor save failed all three and was stunned) Before the Noble, in an effort to right the wrongs of the shame she had given him before stabbed his spear into her sword arm, forcing her to concede for mercy and withdraw from the battlefield. The battle between the Monks and Rats were in full swing as they were all fighting over the fallen treasure chest! And the rest all joined in the battle with the Monk's leaders, Viren landing a mightly blow on the Officer forcing him to use his lucky rabits foot to make an armor save. However thanks to the battle with the Rats, both of the two were left in rout checks... The skaven, realzing they were outnumbered chose to make for their hiding places squeaking off into the ruins. The Noble, turning back to see his warband decimated, decided to withdraw. (failed his rout check and didn't have a rabits foot to reroll.) One monk started to grab the treasure (for these rules if you were holding the treasure at a rout on a 4+ you keep it) but he realized the weight would slow him down and left it on the ground. The day and the treasure was left for the Wolves!!!! Alex suffered a blow to her arm but it was not a deep wound, however she would need time to heal (has to miss out next game), Percival who had taken a spear to the head, jolted something loose in his mind and now he is subject to Frenzy!!! ._. Inside the chest there were many gold crowns (14), a Sword, and light armor. A nearby search of the area also found both a corpse and an overturned cart!! The first having just the axe that killed the man still lodged in his skull, but scattered in the cart, just hidden enough that the brigands who raided the cart missed it, was a scroll case. Inside the leather bound case was a map, a map viren was wary to trust at first until he saw the signature upon it. This was no ordinary mordheim map!! It was one of the 12 master maps of mordheim!!!!! Quite the find! In terms of levels, Gregory gained a new skill (yet to be chosen), and Percival gained a new skill (ride), Mordred as well leveled and gained +1 WS! And finally Reginald leveled as well gaining +1 BS.... which makes the tilean marksman that much scarier! All in all a mighty battle. With the gold we had left we paid upkeep for Reginald, as well as Hired a freelance knight, Ser Ivan Richards, and bought a Horse for Percival as well as a spear for him, and a shield for both Percival and Alex, once more emptying my coffers.
