| They are not the best photos but from what I can see it looks great. I like the weathered colours and vegetation. With a number of these buildings and a nice table to put them on you will have a great gaming board. I look forward to your next building. | |

| VERY NICE! The roof tiles in particular look GREAT...the moss growing on the roof is a cool touch. AND I LOVE the way you based it up. VERY WELL DONE! | |

| how did you make the moss? is it static grass? I like the way it looks very rickety although its been empty for years and could fall down any minute | |

| Thanks very much for your kind words! I'll try getting a few better pictures taken today... did them around 4am after a "few" drinks *grins*. It's just foamboard for the walls, balsa wood for the timber, and thin card for the tiles. The rickety effect was just roughly carving the sharp corners off the balsa, and chipping bits of the top surface off the foamboard. For a bit more texture on the walls, some really cheap filler (the stuff for filling cracks in plaster and walls) The moss is static grass yes, very pleased how it turned out. I have another in the works which i'll get pics up when it's done, a much taller piece which is currently just undercoated. | |

| Indeed, always good to wake up in the morning and to get some inspiration shoved in the face like this! !! The image quality is kind of low yes, but you can really tell the building has lots of details and it looks great! The roof tiles look fantastic, the basing is great, and you chose the right color palette to make it look dirty, old and abandoned. Awesome job mate, hopefully you can share some more photos with better detail and in the future. Cheers! | |

| VERY COOL! I LOVE the "defying gravity" look...some zinc washers counter sunk under the base works nicely for keeping the suckers upright. The WONDERFUL part about ruins is that those little mistakes actually enhance rather than detract from the overall effect. GREAT PROGRESS...Keep'em coming. | |

| Very, VERY nice! I like the colours you've chosen and the idea to add moss was a brilliant one (that never occurred to me - probably because I live in a desert). And I LOVE gravity-defying buildings, they really add to the "Chaotic Wyrdness" that Mordheim should be. You've really given me hope that somebody with access to the most basic materials can make truly stunning scenery (i.e., you don't have to be Boreas_NL to have an awesome table). PLEASE keep up the incredible work! | |

| I did see the stuff from Boreas_NL.. truely epic!
I'll try taking a few pics of the next building while it is progressing and make a few notes of the steps as I go along if it is of interest to anyone... then pretend I had a plan rather than making it up as I went along.
A lot of the work here is truely inspirational, I spent a while browsing for ideas before starting. I'm terrible at painting minis, but this all seemed to fall into place, just need more of a structured approach so it can all be modular and fit the table dimensions properly.
The first piece was a lot of trial and error, and I wasted so long trying to find colours which worked and going over and over again fixing bits. The moss definately brought it to life and I think helped to lift the other colours.
I think the biggest problem is sticking to the one piece before branching off into multiple builds, then having the daunting task of trying to finish it. I did some necromunda building a few years back with some friends and ended up with a huge table which never got the attention to detail it required... that and using old card boxes and general junk rather than proper materials.
Absolutely loving the mordheim style though! Very fun to do!

| Sure thing! You're very welcome to.
Thanks everyone for the kind words, glad you like it, loads more ideas which i'll hopefully be able to pull off and post up... though i've just came across something i'll post in the inspiration thread which will make everyone down tools and surrender.
I've possible came up with an idea I might try out for a stable modular gaming board... all pieces based on something like 12"x12", 6"x6", with a range of buildings, platforms, river pieces, cobbles, basic scenes, etc... and velcro on the bottom. Then just stick all the parts into any arrangement with plenty of cobble sections to join it all up, and no more worries about accidently knocking into the scenery. Might be useful after a drink or three when gaming.
Might try it out as a concept idea, but will take a while before I have enough pieces knocked up.
Anyone tried anything similar before?

| Second building now painted and mossed. Went a lot faster after the painting trial and effor of the first... so here are a few snapshots. Was fighting with the sun, and i'm afraid the sun won... how dare it! Have another just started, so hope to throw up a few WIP shots as it progresses, and have a little fountain/watering hole tile almost done, need to get hold of some water effect, and finish painting the corpses around it. hmm... I should really add some ladders/stairs now that I think about it. As always, comments, criticisms, suggestions and all that are very much appreciated! (EDIT) ..and I still plan to properly base them on hardboard, dividing into 12" X 12" sections, just haven't gotten around to sourcing any yet. | |

| This do look great, I really like your style and I think it fits perfectly with Mordheim in mind. I personally would say skip basing them on hardboard, they look great just the way they are and could be placed on any surface without having to worry about matching anything. | |

I personally would say skip basing them on hardboard, they look great just the way they are and could be placed on any surface without having to worry about matching anything. I think they need the bases, though; with the amount of overhang they have, they'd be sure to topple once a metal model enters the top floors! You could always stick some washers/fishing weights in the base or cleverly hide them in piles of rubble if you don't want the wood bases.

| I've been quite torn about the idea of wood bases. On one hand it will add more stability, and could help towards building a modular board of big squares which can run edge to edge..
but as mentioned, could add more difficulty trying to match it all in.
The next piece i'm working on is based on a 12" x 12" lump of insulation foam, so I think it should be fine without, but these two I still might mount.
I think right now the main obsticle is the laziness of going out to buy something, either weights or hardboard lol.

| I like your style! I can't believe that this is your first building, it looks really well... The buildings are very good, open and quite ruined... The moss adds another layer of decay, a very nice addition! How tall are your buildings? Maybe you could post a pic with a mini for scale? I will be watching this thread | |

| The new photos REALLY show off your FINE buildings to advantage. Considering these are your first attempts, when you've been knocking them out as long as moi, the mind boggles as to JUST HOW UNBELIEVABLY GOOD they'll be. Keep up the GREAT WORK! | |

How tall are your buildings? Maybe you could post a pic with a mini for scale? The walls are cut at 2" tall, with the floors and beams adding a little extra height, but yes sure thing, i'll take some pics of the pieces together along with a mini for scale comparison... ...next step, try and paint a half decent mini so I don't let myself down lol. I think they're turning out so well because I love this style and am trying to take my time. Most of the inspiration and 3d concepts probably come from spending the last year building 3d content in second life.
