The Haunted Village of Wortbad

Spurred on by Blessed Knight's amazingly beautiful "Karlsburg" terrain (see The Uncertain Fate of The Nachtjägers) I decided it was time I got back to work on my Warhammer World scenery (for gaming at my house). I've long wanted a coherent and consistent set of atmospheric, dark and brooding terrain reminiscent of the lands of the Vampire Counts; corrupted by Dark Magic and abandoned by its inhabitants.

I already had a couple of individually based GW trees, I have just added dead grass and fallen leaves to their bases to tie them to the graveyard corner.

After making this first piece (from left-over parts of a GW Fortified Manor and some Renedra gravestones) I bought a Garden of Morr, which I will be using to embellish more graveyard pieces.  

I have painted it to go with my Pumpkin Field and I intend the other pieces to have the same dark and brooding scheme, based on this painting:















(I also  have another terrain-set project brewing as well, but I want to have two complete, and separate sets!)

That looks totally awesome! Love your paintjob and the detailing with the static grass and fallen leaves is excellent. Can you buy those leaves in packages?

You captured the spooky atmoshere that only a long neglected cemetery can achieve...GREAT brushwork & modeling.

LOVE the look of these pieces. They definitely fit in a Sylvanian theme. I can see them incorporated very easily in a "Vampire Hunters" campaign.

Very simple conversion and yet super effective. The mood is spot on, with the spooky trees and the tombstones. Your paintjob is excellent too! I will be following this one very closely!

This altar-tomb is a very old piece from Forgeworld with some added plastic bits from the same sources as above.











I'm painting a GW forest at the moment and I've started building a piece using some of the Garden of Morr parts.

I love that "well maybe I didn't say every little syllable" Book...all Army of Darkness inspired or inspiring things are cool. AND this is a VERY COOL little piece...very atmospheric. GREAT WORK!

@Deafnala: Loved that comment! Army of Darkness is a fav. (specially since ive found an not-Ash model witch soon gonna be a fine-looking objective in my Vampire Counts army)

It is, but it was Forgeworld that made use of it not me it was molded, along with the skulls, in the resin of the tomb piece.

My next completed piece is another mausoleum. I've almost finished the GW forest as well but there is still ink-work to be done, as well as dead grass flock and leaf-litter to be added before I can show that off. I hope to get the forest and maybe another bit of graveyard done before next weekend.

That is an EXCELLENT piece. Getting a glimpse of the Mausoleum's interior is a cool & somewhat eerie effect. GREAT & SPOOKY WORK!
