| Cool stuff! The second fountain looks great, and the door is indeed mysterious - where does it lead? What is there to be found underneath the fountain? Who would build something like that? The beams and planks look really good as well! | |

| Thanks guys! Glad you like them. Hopefully I will find some time during christmas holidays to make something bigger (and hopefully there'll be some useable stuff in the prezzies!) The raft was just one of those inspiration-struck-me-unexpectedly things... Had a team building 3 weeks ago where we had to make our own (real life) raft (yes, in this cold weather). Then all of a sudden I saw the wooden kegs in my bitzboxes, and the idea was born... I find it funny quite a lot of people (also on other forums) find the door to my fountain intriguing/mysterious. I was confronted by a large, uninetersting surface (i.e. the rear of the fountain) which needed some details to make it more 'alive'. And then I though "A fountain is all nice and dandy, but what if it breaks down? You need access to the inner workings whithout needing to chop out the boulders" So I added a door; simple as that | |

| Steal away! So, amongst all useless gifts, gifts I really really didn't want and whatnot, I discovered this lil gem. The Salty Dog, made by a very, very good friend who doesn't live too far away from a crooked house himself! Now, the poor piece of scenery had suffered from the transport (UK to Belgium), but nothing irrepairable. Still, I decided to take the damage as a hint to what could be done to make it more sturdy. So because I'm me, this started quite the bit of an add-on. First I gave the building a plasticatd base, which I'd partially covered in flagstones and partially in sand. I added a keg here, a stair/jetty there, and some kind of construction.... Here's what that looked like : Once all of that PVA and milliput had dried up nicely, I stared to make a table, so the pubs' guests can have a sitdown with their rum outside, and I added a fishingnet to the construction I added to the side of the building And once that had dried up, I added those greenstuff little balls to the nets (still don't know wether they serve to foat or to sink the nets) The primer is drying as I'm typing this out! | |

| Love the crooked house. It looks like its weathered a couple of storms or was built by someone who samples his own ale... | |

| Most probably a combination of both , Von Kurst.
Glad you like it as much as I do. Started painting yesterday... still a long way to go; and contemplating the possibility of maybe sculpting a chimney... that's the only thing bothering me about this construction... no chimney

This place would definitely look like it sports a stove-pipe chimney of some sorts. Nicely done!

| Okay, painting is well underway with this one, but in the meantime I have a question for you guys.
As a part of a boxed set of small animals, I have received a small square patch of grass, about 10 cm². It looks like grass that has just been visited by a lawnmower, very short and neatly trimmed.
I have been thinking for a couple of months now about how I could integrate/change this into a small piece of scenery for my pirate harbour town, but up until now, inspiration has failed to hit me (which is actually quite unusual for me, I need only to see some small piece of trash lying on the ground for me to go 'hey, I can use that! and pick it up)
Any bright ideas from you guys might help me perhaps?

| Maybe use it as a small grazing area for sheep or goats? I know both kinds of animals graze very neatly to the ground. You could have some kind of fenced-in area with a handful of animals there, as most sea-side settlements would likely have a few of these. | |

| I like the Goat Idea. Goats are delightful creatures; unlike Sheep, who are incredibly stupid, Goats have a malicious sense of humor that would go well with the Pirate persona. | |

Cool idea already, keep 'm coming!

| You could use it as a lawn to the governor or some other important (wealthy) person and make a garden to go with. Wealthy would hire goats to trim there lawn. | |

| Thanks for those links!
Sheep, I have indeed found all over the place (Black Cat Bases, Foundry etc.). Goats however... apart from that link to Walthers, nothing yet.
And seen that I've got the ideas of goats in my head now (they also make a nice mental connection with the Bokkerijders, a Belgian gang/saga from the 18th century who were beleived to go looting flying on male goats through the sky)
Guess I'll try the local model-shop too

| Thanks, but no thanks! I need 'm to be 'au naturel' Oh well, in the meantime... So, half a weekend gone, had some fun painting moments, added two little details onto the pub itself : added a wooden doggie-statue above the entrance, and a wee small chimney at the backside, and here are the final results : Here are some closeups of the smaller details : And to give you some 'action' piccies, here are a couple of wenches getting ready to get wasted : Onwards and forwards to the next project! | |

| Love what you have done with the building, although the dog statue could use some help to look like a statue. Just looking at the photos I thought it was a mascot or something that had climbed up on the shelf. Great work on the weathered wood and the roof. | |

| Cheers for the comments guys! Jerry_O, the door is indeed too small; can't be helped, and the visitors will just have to stoop when entering. But as this building was a gift I received, I won't be complaining over such a small detail. Von Kurst, I get where you are coming from, the piccie washes out the woodgrain I painted on the doggie... I'll have a second irl-look at the fig, and see if I need to give the grains an extra highlight or not | |
