These farmers who had degenerated, into the most heinous of beasts, Had overdone it and overindulged themselves, with too many feasts, They had become slow and sluggish, from too much beef stroganoff, And they were quickly butchered, by the fiends from Castle Drakenhof,
For although these undead, shared our farmers' sense of misanthropy, One of their number did not, for he was suffering from lycanthropy, He bounded at our farmers, with all the speed of a cheetah, And sent them packing, to have tea with the reaper,
And that was it dear readers, our farmers they scattered, All screaming and whining, and terribly blood spattered, Back to their lair, in the deepest darkest wood, And looked back fondly on the days, when they used to be good,
They began to discuss and debate, if they could ever return, To their lives once lived, that they had so hastily decided to spurn, 'No you cant', said the man who carried no name, 'If you were ever found, you'd be put to the flame',
'Look at yourselves, you're all quite the monstrosity', 'You would never fit in, in that world of virtuosity', 'You'd be hunted like animals, and strung from the gallows', 'In that debauched world, where corruption festers and wallows',
'But if you stay with me, by the gods you will be favoured', 'And you will eat the best human flesh, that has been marinated and flavoured', And these farmers they agreed, to abandon once more, Their humanity and their ethics, and to go to war,

- WEEK 3 RESULTS
This week has seen the appearance of not one, but two dwarf warbands! The Underminers have stepped into the rather oversized shoes of The Red Eye Knights, and a warband currently known only as 'IroNick's Dwarves' suddenly appeared and are squatting in The Light.
The Light became available, along with The Battery and the Cod & Cutlass Inn becuase the warbands who had started in them had not yet shown their faces in Vercuso to do battle. So Uzgit's 'ired gunz, Brad the Impaled's Mumbling Stumbling Horde and 'Mat's warband' are currently homeless, but fear not Sal, Andy Z and Mat - you're still very much part of the campaign if you wish to be!
Messrs Bell, Book and Candle have yet to venture out of The Pickled Mariner Tavern. To whom will they offer their services this week...?
Anyway here are week 3's results (Rohern's Cheery Woodfolk did not provide an updated warband rating, which might alter their placing slightly):
IF YOU'RE INTERESTED... (excel is a wonderful thing... )
The most fought-over location so far is The Barrel O'Monkeys, with Hangman's Square, The Old Temple, The Bucaneer's Blade Inn and The Slips close behind.
The most successful warband so far is 'IroNick's Dwarves' with a 100% win rate... after 1 game! The Lost Waaagh!band have won 69% and The Blackhorns 50%.
Remember that locations are worth variable points, established at the close of the campaign. These depend on the type of location, and whether it's a bonus for the controlling warband. Estimated campaign results at this stage place Albania Barbarians in first place, Papa Jingle second, and The Lost Waagh!band and The Underminers in joint thrid.
Finally, here's a remarkable statistic: 37 games have been played so far in this campaign. That's an average of 1.5 per day!!

| Sorry, no idea about the Ghost Pirates: I've no experience of them. The Gloomwyrms use the normal Orc & Goblin warband rules with a "LuncheimSpecial Rule" added (all of us are allowed to invent a fluff rule that is then subjected to the group's editing, we always require a down-side to balance the advantage added). | |

Our farmers were feeling low, after another crippling defeat, And they had trouble being coordinated, because they had hooves instead of feet, They were slipping and tumbling, like women in high heels, And had all the guile, of a cluster of beached eels,
But salvation was here, in the form of a gigantic cow, With horns as long as spears, and a chest like a ship's prow, 'What is this titan', our farmers did roar, 'Be still' said their leader, 'it's just a minotaur',
And with this monster at their helm, victory was all but assured, For it seemed almost impossible, that this beast would be floored, 'We don't really need to do the fighting any more', their leader did opine, 'We can just stand back and watch, and cheer it on from the sideline',
Such were the unnamed man's powers, of speech and oratory, Even the minotaur began to think, that an enemy surrender would be mandatory, And so it started out slow, it started out easy, For if it didn't drink blood, it would start to get queasy,
One man it went after, just a single little figure, And anticipated a victory, because it was so much bigger, It didn't swing out first, it had his own devilish plan, It'd let the first strike, come from this tiny man,
But the man had his own plan, and cut off the minotaur's head, And the beast toppled backward, irrevocably stone dead, Our unnamed leader looked on in horror, once again he'd been defeated, And unable to hold his temper, he shouted [expletive deleted],

| House of Ratty Daggers25th January, the year of the Earth Ox, Wizard’s Mansion at the Cod & Cutlass Inn The Gloomwyrms and Raziels’ Court try to take the recently discovered Wizard’s Mansion from the Hold Rats. The Gloomwyrms moved quietly through the empty streets around the Cod and Cutlass inn… well as quietly as they could with Droo-Ling the Troll with them. Yu-Dan, Li-Ping and Pig-Xi took a couple of crew far off on the left flank to try to use the aerial gang-ways to access the upper floor of the mansion. The Hold Rats were rifling through the seedy but sorcerous stately home and had already found a Cathayan silk robe. The Gloomwyrms fired a few volleys of crossbow bolts and received a number of sling stones in reply. In the distance the shambling forms of the undead court could be seen. As Mung-Qi and Droo-Ling got closer Tricky Tarka started trying to knock Skaven off the walls using summoned ghostly green fists. The Uber-zombies of Raziels’ Court got closer to the mansion and the Hold Rats had to split their fire. With supernatural speed Raziels himself leapt up the crumbling masonry and sliced up the Skaven Assassin. With that the Gloomwyrms withdrew, after the pelting from the Skaven they didn’t fancy getting diced by the Vampire. ±

| The Great Escape28th January, the year of the Earth Ox, The Cod and Cutlass Inn Xan-Di sat forlornly in the Cod and Cutlass inn, surrounded by the cave Orcs of The Lost Waaagh. His hands were bound with strips of reptile skins and his captors ugged and ooged at each other, gesticulating and waving their primitive weapons about. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a flash of movement in the distance – a red bandanna and a glint of steel. He did his best to conceal his reaction as a glimmer of hope burned in his eyes. A rescue was being attempted! ± The pirate Orcs sprinted from cover to cover, trying to keep out of sight of the Lost Waaagh. The Goblins and Troll made a lot of noise and jumped around in the open to the south of the inn. Tricky Tarka and Pig-Xi appeared on the north side of the Cod and Cutlass. A band of cave Orcs spotted them and charged. Battle was joined! Droo-Ling was surrounded and battered to the ground by the frenzied mob. Yu-Dan shouted a challenge to the Boss of the Lost Waaagh who couldn’t stop himself from running head-long at the jewelled sword-wielding pirate. Li-Ping took advantage of their impetuosity and cast Cloud Trapeze – he flew into the inn, just as the cave Orcs left and freed Xand-Di. The Gloomwyrms had rescued their ship-mate and captured the Cod and Cutlass: Luck day! ±

| Attack of the Clowns28th January the year of the Earth Ox, The Merchant’s Guildhouse In the pouring rain of the late evening, Papa Jingle and his Cirque du Extraordinaire tried to muscle-in on the Gloomwyrm’s territory and attacked the Merchant’s Guildhouse. Droo-Ling the Troll trailed behind in the rush forward. Left to his own devices he spent the rest of the evening in Zen-like contemplation of a wall, at peace with his thought (and yes; that was supposed to be singular). Xan-Di led a small party of two crossbow-armed Orcs in a leap across a broken walk-way into the clock tower. He and one of the crew made the jump; the third spent a short time lying on the cobbles below, staring at the rainy sky and wondering how he got down there. When they got there one crossbow Orc took up a firing position overlooking the advancing circus. Xan-Di charged out in a frenzy and killed a monkey, a small dog and a freak-show exhibit. Not his most glorious victories but he didn’t care. It seemed like some of the cave Orc’s craziness had infected him! Mung-Qi and the Flying Daggers (the Goblins) ran into the Pie Shop, the Flying Daggers climbed up into the attic, ready to cross into the Hole in the Wall Inn. The circus knife-thrower and one of the Orc pirates traded missiles for several minutes before a knife finally found it’s mark and felled the Orc. Using his favourite spell ( the ghostly green fists of “Oi! Gerrof!”) Tricky Tarka repeatedly slammed Circus band members back into the waters of the harbour, usually just after they’d climbed out from their last dunking! He incinerated one drummer in the Flames of Gork but switched back to “Oi!” when he found that wasn’t as much fun. Yu-Dan was about to leap down from the Hole in the Wall Inn and engage Papa Jingle himself, when he realised the rest of the pirates had already made a run for it! ± | |

| The Gloomwyrm Strikes Back1st February the year of the Earth Ox, Occupy at The Merchant’s Guildhouse The Cirque du Extraordinaire (without Papa Jingle, who was recovering from serious injuries) attacked the Gloomwyrm’s territory again. The streets echoed with the pounding of Orcish feet. The warband was split into two large groups (with a rough division of Heroes and Henchmen) and one small one (Mung-Qi and Droo-Ling the Troll). The Circus Strongman approached the inn where Tricky Tarka and Yu-Dan were waiting to pounce. The Shaman jumped out and conjured jets of magical green fire, roasting the Circus Magician and one of the musicians. Closely followed by Pig-Xi, Yu-Dan twirled his ornate sword in complex swirling patterns. He ran towards the enemy shouting a challenge and braving the bow-fire of a concealed Halfling Scout. Mung-Qi and Droo-Ling rounded on the circus animals as the Troll Slayer, Knife Thrower and Strongman fled. The terrified animals didn’t stand a chance. ± Out of the four key buildings around the Merchant’s Guildhouse, the Gloomwyrms held two; the Circus held one and the last was contested. The eastern pirates beat off the second attack and strengthened their hold the area around the Guildhouse. ± New Warband Rating: 329

| Interview with the Vampire4th February the year of the Earth Ox, Skirmish at The Boarding Party Inn Both the Gloomwyrms and Raziel’s Court try to take the Boarding Party Inn, the Vampire got the Inn, Mung-Qi got it in the neck. ± A massive row broke out in the rear of the Gloomwyrm’s lines – Gang-wai turned his two-handed weapon on the mouthy Ang-kor and knocked him to the ground. Taking no prisoners the maddened Gang-wai didn’t stop! He finished off the prone deckhand in a second furious attack. Talk about hitting a guy when he’s down… Along with the Flying Dagger goblins, Mung-Qi and Droo-Ling sprinted forwards, hoping to take down the faster elements of the Undead warband. The rest of the Gloomwyrms advanced under covering fire from a couple of crossbow-armed crew. The super-bow armed Uber-zombie Elf (for some unknown reason wearing a Bretonnian helmet!) rained down arrows upon the advancing pirates, whose return fire couldn’t quite bring him down. Droo-Ling crashed into the undead Ogre and an Uber-zombie Skaven jumped into the fray behind the Troll. Together the undead dragged the great blue beast to the ground and finished him off before he’d caused much harm. Mung-Qi charged the vampire Raziel, his Iron Cudgel whirling through the air. The ancient weapon smashed into the vampire repeatedly, bloodying the stinking grave-beast, but Raziel was made of solid stuff and survived the onslaught! The Ghoul-King made a skillful thrust with his halberd and impaled the Orc pirate captain, watching the life drain from him with interest. Mung-Qi slumped to the cobbles with dark blood pouring from his stomach and mouth. The Gloomwyrms stood aghast for a few moments then broke and ran. ± Tricky Tarka looked around the room full of subdued Orc pirates. They had hardly said a word since they returned to the Merchant’s Guildhouse. “What is this?” he said “Why are you all sitting around looking like the goblin who was given the Squig-prodder?” his voice rising as he spoke. “You know Orcs ain’t ever beaten! You know that if we win, we win. You know that if we run away we ain’t beaten ‘cause we can come back tomorrow and fight again! You know that if we’re killed we’ll be dead so that don’t count as loosing! Mung-Qi will be reincarnated on the wheel of life – every Morkist knows that too! All we’ve got to do is find the Orc Boy that Mung-Qi gets reincarnated as!” By the end of this enraged speech Tricky Tarka was spitting and almost screaming. His audience couldn’t help themselves: they knew that they would find Mung-Qi again. Even if the one they found didn’t know he was Mung-Qi yet! ±

| Bounty OfficeWanted: Deader (or Aliver) A reward of one bottle of finest Cathayan Beer is offered to the honourable warrior who destroys the Zombie of Mung-Qi. As a devout Morkist his soul will then be freed to be reincarnated on the wheel of life. If he is unlucky that means one turn of the wheel as a Squig. If he is lucky, that means another life as an Orc. | |

| Great report Boss! Is Tricky Tarka the new leader? If there are Morkists, are there Gorkists?
Is the allusion to reincarnation just fluff or is there really a possibility of Mung-Qi serving a turn on the wheel as a squg? Da best!

Yes, Tricky Tarka is the new leader - it could be said he always was... I think Zelophahad's Boyz are Gorkists, though they probably just worship rocks. You'll have to wait and see on the reincarnation question.
