| Apart from thinking that this should be at the top once more, I even have a question: what size are you walls? I am currently working on my own pirate town, and was wondering if 5cm (which I currently envision), is sufficient. Especially with regard to ogres, who are about 5cm high and thus hurt their head when based and trying to enter... did this ever come up? | |

| Eleazar - Thak you for your thinking. Knowing beforehand that a lot of Mordheimers are grown people and have big hands, and that there are a lot of dramtically posed (tall) figures being used (taking a long time to get there, I know),
I made my ground floor walls 2-3/4" tall. Some of the 2nd story walls are a little shorter depending on what I was doing.
Another justification of this is that the Sartosa/Tortuga buildings are in very warm climates, builders use ceiling height to give the hot air somewhere to rise to which keeps the lower area cooler.
And to guess a future question or two:
Depending on the use of the door, some are 1-1/4" wide, some 1-3/8" wide, and Lengs storefront door is 1-1/2" wide. I think all are 1-3/4" tall at the top of the arch.
Most windows start 3/4" off the ground and are 1" wide and 1-1/4" tall.
The outside stair and roof-top walls are the only double-thick parts of the buildings. There is no need to make the inside walls thicker.
The rooftop removeable wall is 1" tall on the outside.
Building size wise:
The Port Authority building's 1st floor is 6" x 8" on the outside, not counting the outside stairway. The 2nd floor is 4" x 6" - this is pretty small to game inside and is not used much, but looks better than just one big flat roof.
The outside stairways themselves are 1-1/2" wide from the building wall to the outside of the stairway wall.
The main body of the church is 8" x10" on the outside, not counting the outside stairway. I think the church's stairway is 1-1/2" wide for just the steps themselves.
Hope this helps. | |

| Thanks a lot I opted for 6cm walls, which should be quite in line with your size, too. Looks good and from what I put in there, most of the miniatures should also fit in well. First building is almost finished, once I add some floors, I'll show some WIP pics | |

From one mutant to another, I assume this is a friendly warning to get out of town quick. By the way, if anyone hasn't noticed this thread is being continued via a work in progress thread. https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/t6063-tortuga-sartosa-begins-again

| Wow, just spent a while combing through - this has to be the most fun terrain to play on. Lovely attention to detail and it looks like you did a great job of making it functional for gaming as well. Keep up the good work!
p.s. Any chance of seeing a whole board put together using your Tortuga terrain? Or was there already a shot in the thread that I missed...?

| From the Treachery and Greed thread in the Battle Reports and Fluff section. The Tortuga scenery shows up in all of our pirate campaigns posted there. | |

| This is the stuff of pure inspiration... BEAUTIFULLY WELL DONE! Beyond being wonderfully detailed & highly playable, all your pieces are very versatile; i.e., I could just as easily see Poncho Villas Lads or French Foreign Legion of the Maximillian adventure wandering the streets of your towns as I could picture Mordheim style troops. WONDERFUL STUFF! | |

| Hi, playtable! Hey, everyone! I am new to this wonderful forum and first browsed through the galleries. A lot of superb stuff there like your buildings or the pirate orks or or or... Your buildings simply look awesome. Respect! May I ask, how you exactly crafted the roofs with the orange-terracotta-coloured shingles? What are they made of? Best regards, Squig | |

| Thanks Squig. As to your question: - Quote :

What are they made of? I cheated and used pre-made textured plastic sheeting. The brand name is: PLASTRUCT. The product is: "O" scale Spanish Tile Roof.

| I'm getting much better, I just have 2 forever shortened fingernails to grow the rest of the way back in - half way there.
No more buildings as yet.
I've been painting miniatures and working on clutter types of terrain.
Nothing done except the 25th aniv. 40K model. (Looks good though.)
