There are two options, you could have a "one off" sculpted or one they reserve the right to cast in resin. I decided to go for the cheaper option of having my brethren available to re-cast. Why should I be the only guy to enjoy their fine modeling? Very Happy

£39.00 Euro for that comission sculpt and giving them permission to re-cast it.

AHA, then the 39euros price tag is for the mini & repro rights. Not a bad deal considering what Scribor's gets fot the same option. eeexcellent!

BTW, sharing the mini with the rest us junkies IS a FINE attitude. You're ALRIGHT, Amigo! thumbsup

40 is a fair price.

Usually a professional green will cost at least 150 EUR - and that's about the minimum. More like 200-400. Working below say 10 EUR an hour really isn't worth it, so every good sculptor deserves his money.

40 EUR for having someone make YOUR perferct miniature available to you is definately a fair deal (who cares if others can enjoy it too?) and I think it's really cool that TW are offering this.

I agree. 40 EUR is better than a fair price for this. I'm still too poor to afford it now, but if I had the money I'd commission a whole warband!

Blargh, now I'm dreaming of my own custom made warband... Cool

Thanks Deaf. I had missed that line.
That answers my question thumbsup But then that would make €39 a little steep for a miniature that is commercially available.

There is something that I fail to understand here. Maybe one of you fine gentlemen could help a poor old Admin to grasp this:

Firstly: Customer pays sculptor, so that the SCULPTOR has reproducing right???

Doesn't the Sculptor have reproducing right ANYWAY? He made the thing, didn't he?

If anything, shouldn't the sculptor give the CUSTOMER a discount, in exchange for being allowed to reproduce the ordered model for other customers?

Second thing I don't understand: The customer asks for a custom sculpt. Okay. He gets it. Okay. And pays, say, €39 for it. Still Okay. But then, another customer who just wants to buy one mini, will he ALSO need to pay €39? Or will he get it at a more common retail price like €15? This would then seem a little unfair to the first customer who placed the initial scultping order.

I am a little confused now.
Clarifications are welcome Smile

Hehe, your starting to confuse me too. Yeah I thought about this but the miniature is sculpted exactly to the ideas and wishes of the first, for anyone else it's just a cool looking mini.

You'd have to ask the TW guys about duplicate casts and their costs.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. The first guy is paying more, but the mini is custom tailored to what he wants. You're paying for that level of customization I think. Like Jaquemart wrote, for everyone else it's just a cool looking mini, not something custom built to their desires.

I'd rather pay 40EUR for a custom mini created for my desires and let the sculptor sell it to whoever else he wishes than to pay more to have the casting rights OR to settle for another mini that wasn't my creation. It's worth the extra cash I think.

Well, the customer pays 40 EUR so that they produce a mini that would otherwise not be available anyway. Of course the initial customer can always buy additional copies of the mini for the retail price. The 40 EUR is just to get TW started, which seems fine to me. Why else should they even do the minis? Just because one person has voiced interest? This way they at least get something out of it, even if the mini doesn't sell well afterwards and the customer gets the minis he wants.

That's how I understand it and it makes perfectly sense to me.

OK, I see this turned into a real forum discussion Smile

As Jacqumart said, we do offer 2 options:
1) sculpting models in green and selling it like that (the original) so no recast are possible. The price is around 3€ per mm (depending on the complexity)
2) sculpting models, making molds of it, casting it in resin and selling it. The price is 1,3€ per mm this way, so a lot cheaper. This way we expand our range of models and customer gets his exact model for a lot less money.

Of course that this modeling work doesn't pay out. 39€ is not enough by far for sculpting one mini, but with possible future orders it's acceptable.

It might be unfair for the customer that someone else can order this model for less money in the future, but than again, he is the only one who decides how the models should look (and that's what he is paying). And even the customer can order few more copies at a lower price. Smile

Hello guys!

Here are some WIP pictures of the ruined Coaching Inn/Tavern master model.

What you see is a ground floor which served as a Tavern. On the upper floors there will be rooms for guests and an attic.
While the walls on the ground floor are pretty much intact on two sides (sturdy stone walls), the walls on the upper floors and roofs will be much more demolished (brick/wood walls with facade).
Upper floors will even expand a bit in size.
Debris & demolished furniture will be added
when we finish with construction of the building.

Tabletop Scenery - Page 6 CoachingInnWIP

Huge amount of wall sections were used to build the ground floor (both exterior and interior). This is just a small part of it:

Hope you like it so far.

Cheers,
TW
