| Hey there, so I finally start to post some of my progress. By now I started to paint two buildings that I made. Unfortunealy I didn't take pics of the building process. "Inside" (Greatsword just for scale): But the first building is out of formex + modeling putty (walls), balsawood (wood) and XPS/ foamcore rooftiles and stones, and some plastercastings (door, floortiles). I wanted to try out using modeling putty for the walls, as I found this way of doing it in some of the posts, of other users. I like the look of the XPS rooftiles, but they break already before the building is painted... The second Building out of foam core and 1,5 kg modeling putty: The second Building has a basic structure out of XPS/ styrodur and Styropor. I wanted to try rooftiles out of modeling putty(inspired by the forum's user's). In the hope, they gonna last at least the painting process . I just started to make almost the whole thing out of putty, it took quite a while, but I liked, the progress, that I made with the putty. At the first floor u can see still quite basic wood-style looking walls. wow, priming the roof is horrible. So now I want to continue to paint these buildings. I still struggle with painting... making washes, dry brushing etc... if someone has some suggestions or advice: I would be glad to hear it!!!! Im not sure about the wood-brown... its kinda boring, but maybe some more paint, and it will look just fine... The second building is not finished... the balcony-floor is still not there. but it was breaking off all the time, so I just left it like this. If u have some questions, just ask, if u have advice, just tell me | |

| They are BEAUTIES; you have a real flair for the modeling. The painting part will develop as you go along. Don't be intimidated by the colors. Mordheim emulates the Renaissance; SO bold color are the way to go. Keep up the OUTSTANDING WORK! | |

| Really nice work there, on some wonderfully weird buildings! As for tips on painting... don't worry about it too much is my main tip. Anything more than a basecoat & one highlight is probably too much when you're doing a large area. Good luck! | |

Yes... Im kinda struggling, making a layer, another one... I guess I could save allot of time and paint... cuz most of the layers are anyway gone in the end. But Im still playing around, tried the first time black priming + grey and white drypbrushing.

| Time for a small update: Made a silicon mold of the chest (no pic), but no casting by now. Also of the trash can, my first try out with 2-Part silicon molds. Pics gonna come if there a some casting results. I continued painting the house, but I knew it would be an terrible idea to paint every part of the house in a single way. Now everything looks a bit different, but we will see, still some chance of getting them match. Just another layer of beige. Some try with some red-brown wood (grey gonna follow some day): And as Christmas is getting close, I thought I make a small diorama, to try out some techniques (like the XPS cutting - stonework, stonework for a stone-style street). I wanted to do way more... but time is running out... need to get lose to painting. I should hurry up, Christmas is soon : Im still not sure, if I should glue everything together... because it will be horrible to paint. As I made some little mushrooms to glue on there. as a small homage to DeafNala (u gave me the idea how to use left over modeling putty, and making a nice detail : Edit: Turned double post into update | |

| Agreed, that's lovely progress, especially with the mottled walls. & the Christmas diorama's off to a grand start. Plus, if it isn't finished in time, there's always next Christmas... or the one after... | |

I like the blue to, I was half an hour just looking for a proper color for the roofs. Wasn't sure if I should do purple or blue. than I found that blue at the store. And giving some color to the roof is quite an enjoyment after painting brown, grey and beige and so one for the "natural" colors. Edit: And I thought about giving the roof tiles a black, brown, greenish wash like I did at the walls. To combine everything. But I liked the strong contrast. The poping blue, the slightly weather look at the walls. I should try it out, next time.

U do like it? I wasn't sure it turned out quite strong. I wasn't sure if I should give the same wash at the ofter floors, or if I should give another layer of wall paint.

| Hey there, last weeks I was focusind more on post apocalyptic vehicular terrain and cars. But I found a way back to my mordheim table. I had some left over balsawood and startet to build some modular structrues, that I kinda like. They fill the table quickly, and its quite modular. I definetly need to do more bridges and ladders, but its a start. And some Top Views, with one of the houses, on my most "unwelldone drybrush "-table. They allmost fill a square of 24"*24" Some more ladders are needed to access the wooden platforms...!!! all the best | |
