...there you have it...such as it is. This is actually the first time I've chronicled a piece 's progress on a daily basis. The normal thing for moi is to post the based & base coated mini; when next seen, it's done. I must say...well I don't really have to say, but I think I will anyway...I am finding it a motivating way to paint.

That is a very fun little vignette. Decidedly odd, but fun.

Thanks, Chief Tugboat! Now that you mention it, there is a a decided psychedelic/surrealistic feel to the thing. I think it's largely the "Oh WOW, The Colors" effect. That aside I'm glad you like it.

Came out very well! The wings are very eye catching, as they should be.

Forgive me if you have explained this previously and I missed it, but I've noticed that it seems you (and several others) prime your stuff black, and then it looks like you heavily drybrush grey or white before you start applying colors. I was just curious what benefits this has over just priming white or grey? I have never thought of doing that, it looks interesting, and it seems that it really makes the colors pop.

As a side note, it also creates a very cool visual effect in your pictures, when you're starting to put color down but some of the model is still black/grey. Like its being brought from old school black and white to a new world of color! Trippy! (In a good way )

I don't have any problem at all repeating myself...I have to ask people to repeat themselves too often not to do so when asked myself.  
I do a black wash & when that is dry a white dry brush as my base coat. The benefits of doing it this ways is, for the miniature, the white base tend to make the highlight colors brighter & the black deepens the shadows. AND it makes it easier for my tired old eyes to pick out the details.
There are a few Folk that have thought I was going monochromatic/grey scale. Now that you mention it that's effect of color against white on black, is sort of the effect they used in the original The Wizard of Oz going from black & while reality (Kansas) to full color fantasy (Oz). 
All that aside, I'm glad you enjoy the stuff.
