Thanks a lot, Deaf! Looks like it's Chinese Pirates day today. I got my Curteys Pirates in the mail today. So I had a look at the sampan. Wow, $280 + $30 shipping (ca. 227€)! It sure looks good, but that's too hefty a price. I'm still pondering about which ship to use. There are just so many options...

| I'm sure as a limited edition piece the Sampan is worth the asking price, but, if you don't have the $s [ AND I DON'T ] even a reasonable price CAN seem exorbinant. PLUS, it's one of those pieces that has an "I-could-do-that" look to it. The Curtey's Pirates are REALLY nice; they have a certain charm all their own [the Captain is my favorite], AND VERY REASONABLY priced. | |

| Oh, you are right! I'm definately not one of those who are not willing to pay a fair price for a ton of work. I've done enough scenery to know what such a thing is worth. I didn't mean that the ship wasn't worth it. It probably is. But I don't like it enough to spend that amount of money on it (you already mentioned the DIY look). I still like the plastic junk I posted above more - even if it means more work. I'm also watching a souvenir ship (is that the right term?) on ebay which seems to be of the proper size. Those models are always the most accurate, most detailed and most expensive ones. If that one stays in a reasonable price category I might get it (but I have nearly no hope it will).
Yeah, I like the Courteys minis. They're cool. They look really small, though. Well, they're Asians so that's okay I guess. I'll just wait and see how they compare to the Foundry Chinese pirates (which I also ordered).

| I JUST meant you and I weren't QUITE at that stage financially where money is NO object. It WAS,however, a cool little ship. The Courtey Minis remind me of Dixon's Samauri range only with nicer facial detailing. They MIGHT be a bit small if they match up to Dixon's, but not much smaller than Foundry's minis. | |

| VERY IMPRESSIVE! You CERTAINLY are a thorough researcher. That's quite a arrray of ships. I REALLY like Ship Yards Arab Dhow AND the Brigantine & Man O' War from Old Glory. Considering my present finances though, I guess I'll stick to making my own [3 done & 2 under construction; ARRH ]. | |

| CONGRATULATIONS on your NEW PIRATES! The Curtey/Foundry mix look like they work nicely together. AND all the extra weapons plus the bonus two minis ARE a deal! Now I can start bugging you for photos of the Dragon Pirates . | |

| Very nice Cianty, if you ever manage to finish them AND you happen to be in the vicinity of Hamburg / Lüneburg we need to pit these against my pirates | |

Well, Bremen isn't that far from HH... Unfortunately it'll take me some time to finsih them, I fear. Although they have a pretty high priority right now.

| Here's a quick sneak peak. The photo is really terrible and I'm not really satisfied with the mini anyways, but whatever. I won't clutter this thread with regular pictures so if anyone is interested in seeing how this develops have a look at my blog and this thread on the Lead Adventure Forum, where I'll be posting my crew. Cheers! | |

| SORRY YOU DON'T LIKE IT/HIM, but I think it's pretty darned cool. I ESPECIALLY like the flowered tunic. If we're going to disagree on something, this is at least a pleasant way of doing so. | |

| Hi, everyone! I've been emailing with Flis Wojtek about his upcoming pirate miniatures range for Black Tree Design. You can see photos of his excellent sculpts on my tabletop blog. If you like them, please leave a message or bugger john at BTD about releasing them sooner. | |

Yes, they are really cool minis. Check out his photobucket album if you haven't already. He has more photos of his minis there. There's some really great stuff. - DeafNala wrote:

Thanks a lot! I know Flis appreciates this a lot. I will also write an email soon.

| I just wanted to add that I think you've done a cracking job on those Chinese pirates and the ship. Excellent stuff. I've been playing High Seas for the last year pretty solidily. My gaming club even put on a four-way participation game at UK Gamesday so we could try to encourage some more people to give it a try. Last month, a few of us had a small running campaign recently at the GW Thank You day - we were lucky that Tim Eagling was there who let us borrow his lovely scenery for us to play on. High Seas is great fun | |
