| Thank you gentlemen. Chad has missed several game nights in addition to starting over twice. He drew Chris' Lahmians for an opponent... ________________________________________________________________________________________ A Chance Encounter in the FogThe Ancient One leads from the front (against shooty warbands in foggy weather). The poor bewildered Witch Hunters... - Chadwicc wrote:
- Chance Encounter with fog. I went first, them Chris, then me, then Chris, and them I routed. I was down two warhounds, one flagellant, and another henchman. All but the flagellant survived. I put as few models in danger as I could to quit as soon as possible...
________________________________________________________________________________________ A Skirmish in Clear WeatherReport by Harganok Photos by playtable Rob and I played just a normal straightforward mordheim skirmish battle ( no objectives, just fight until someone routs) since we both got there late and terrain pickings were getting slim. It was during the day, and was windy so shooting and climbing were at -1. First couple of turns we just moved closer to each other. Shooting didnt do a whole lot on either side.
Around the center, some of his Giant rats started charging into my beastman and mutant heroes to hold them up while his tougher rat men continued to move up from behind.
On the right flank, he had a group of 5 or 6 clan rats moving around to come from the side, so I sent some henchman and my leader to meet with them, while on the left flank my 2 possessed had charged into his dark elf hired sword, and some more of his hench rats.
The combat on the left turned south for Rob quickly. His hired sword and 2-3 sling rats went out pretty quickly and the rest retreated away , back towards the leader. On the right, both of our henchman were fighting and both groups took some losses, but fighting went to a standstill.
In the middle, I had about 3 heroes fighting around 5-6 of his guys and Robs Wizard launched a warpfire spell right into the middle of the whole combat that hit maybe 9 guys (mostly his). Luckily, the only casualty from the spell was a single melted giant rat....everyone else either saved with their lucky charms or Rob rolled too low to wound. One of my mutants was taken out by 2 night runners, but then on the next turn vengeance came down on the night runners in the form of 2 very pissed off possessed that wiped the floor with them. Rob routs on the next turn. Win for the possessed! Overall, I had 3 brethren and a mutant taken out. One henchman died and was re-hired, the mutant suffered a hand injury (-1WS). Rob had about 8-10 guys get taken out in all. A few died but most lived. I do remember he wasn't very lucky on his hero injury rolls....one got an old battle wound, and both Night runners got deep wounds causing them to miss 2 or 3 games each. I think the last one had a full recovery. In exploration rolled double 3's and so only found d6 gold. - Robperk wrote:
- We played a skirmish gave to keep things simple. His Possessed were just brutal. I should have routed the first chance I got, but I used my unholy relic and decided to stay in one more round. Big mistake, he took out 4 of my heroes in one turn. After it was all said and done one of my Black Skaven made a full recovery the other has a old battle wound, but the worst is one Night Runner is out for 3 games and the other is out for 2 games. It's going to be tough without my runners the next few games.

| HOORAY! Cool reports & photos. The Ancient One proved you don't get to be ancient by being a dummy. The Possessed & the Witch Hunters are looking pretty snazzy. | |

| If you look close, you can see Rob's done some work on his giant rats and sorcerer as well. Some painting is going on! ________________________________________________________________________________________ More Week 12Enter the Necromancer's TowerThe Beast fought the Ancient One for salvage rights to an old tower. The Ancient One also leads from the front against warbands with little shooting... The battle is joined in earnst. - TJ wrote:
- We closed with each other very quickly. I killed 1 of his characters in a nasty 5 on 1 combat with my leader and his vampire took out a dog and 3 marauders. I decided discretion was the better part of valor and went ahead and ran, since Chris decided not to route 2 turns in a row.
I made ok money and didnt get anything special for exploration. The Lahmians killed a murauder. The Lahmians report the death of Belarus the Beloved. No wonder the Lahmians didn't rout since the vampire had gained hatred for the Beast. The tower yields a Tome of Necromancy to the Lahmians. Woe. ________________________________________________________________________________________ All Along The WatchtowerOutside in the Cold Distance "Who are they?" asked Hervey. The Furryfoote company was concealed behind a convient wood. They were scouting their former watchtower. Someone else had occupied it. "Witch Hunters," answered Ana. "Witch Hunters?" said Hervey. "Like the Righteous Brothers?" "Da Comerade Herv," said Ana. "Like the Righteous." Ana spat and made the sign against the 'evil eye'. "What do Witch Hunters want with our tower?" mused Hervey. He spat and made the sign as well. "It is not our tower, it belongs to the Graf," observed Brandiwick. "Maybe he let them move in while we were fighting the goblins and searching for the hermit. Lets go ask them." The Furryfoote Company approached the tower cautiously as the cold winter rain fell. Hervey hoped the Big Men would be under cover instead of keeping a watch, but it was not to be. "Halt in the name of Sigmar, I charge thee!" a gruff voice called from the tower. "I am Elder Brandiwick, late of the Moot, currently in the service of Graf Wilhelm." called Brandiwick in his official voice. "How come you to occupy this tower?" "We hold this tower by our might and the authority of the Grand Theogonist," said the Big Man. "Begone or feel our wrath!" A volley of crossbow bolts stuck the wagon almost immediately. The scouts concealed in the woods fired back. The battle was joined. The Halflings line. The Witch Hunter's reinforcements arive! Brandiwick orders the wagon to withdraw. Halflings in melee. This does not go well. The Witch Hunter's Captain is shot out of the tower, He survives the fall. Post Battle The rain delayed the arrival of the reinforcements, but the Furryfootes' arrows once again turned to rubber. Attempts to resort to spears and swords resulted in halfling heroes going out of action. The Witch Hunters (rating 269) thuroughly trounced the Furryfootes (rating 460). Pip would have suffered an Old Battle Wound and Brentway won a Pit Fight, several warriors, a horse and a scout died as usual, but exploration revealed a local Faerie Ring to save the day for the Halflings once again. One warhound was shot out of action by Hervey, who hates hounds, but it lived. The Witch hunters were rewarded with 75 gc plus exploratioin which resulted in them being well fed by local farmers. - Chadwicc wrote:

| Thanks for the comments gentlemen. The Furryfoote Company is well over 500 after this week's game, although I fear things did not go as well for the Witch Hunters or the Righteous Brothers... More photos of Rob's newly painted models might appear soonish depending on photobucket. @Zargon--There were 3 archers in the tower with a 4 high initiative between them. I wounded each of them, but only the I4 Captain fell. | |

I had four of them, but the fourth was a turn behind the others and as he was running away he was shot in the back and went OOA. The sixth horse was still in the corral surrounded by melee when I finally had to rout. One of Bob's gobos had been unsuccessfull in his attempts to grab that horse and it went unclaimed. My captain and his crossbow vs. a warlock with silver arrows on the left side and then my Elf Ranger and Tilean Marksman vs. 3-6 gobo archers on the right. In the end I was down my two warhounds, the hero flagellant, a zealot, and the warrior priest.
I ended with 3 horses, no casualties, and the only injury I suffered was a leg wound on my hero flagellant after losing a pit fight. I hired an ogre bodyguard.

| EXCELLENT PHOTOS & NARRATIVE! As a belt down my first coffee of the day, there were just enough words to convey the flow of action without too much lip movement. It's TERRIFIC seeing the minis becoming more colorful as the Battles progress; the new & improved Rat Guys look FANTASTIC...love the little rat on the staff. Jack must be your Group's Cursed Name. | Thanks. Rob's done a pretty good job bringing those skaven from out of he box to painted. We have or have had, several flying wizards in this camapaign. The Magister has the chaos flying spell, Gadabout and Sourman flew and sometimes it seems like the Ancient One can... ________________________________________________________________________________________ The WarmachineReport by Harganok Photos by playtable I played Chris's Lahmians in the War Machine scenario. It was night and the weather was normal. The Black Spiral dancers heard rumor of an abandoned fortress with some in house goodies, but when they got there, the Ancient one was already in command of the keep in the center of the board.
I had set up my guys with ranged weapons on a hill in one corner looking straight into the ruined keep, while everyone else formed up in front of the stairs that led into the ruined keep itself. Chris deployed all of his guys inside the keep, ready to make me fight my way up those stairs. We could only see 9 inches due to the darkness, but we both had a few models that could see in the dark. Definitely was going to be a bloody game! I began to move the bow guys off the hill to within seeing-distance of the guys in the middle fort, while on the opposite table edge, my main group began charging through the front gate, taking LOTS of arrows and spells from the gauntlet inside and on the stairs. Chris sprinted his rightfully feared Ancient vampire towards my ranged group (including my leader) while piling henchmen and heroes on the stairs to block my way into the fort on the other side.
My main group started fighting its way up through the stairs inch by inch (literally) with my 2 possessed at the front, killing some hounds and skelly henchmen and eventually getting to grips with a couple of heroes.
On the other side, my ranged group started retreating away from the vampire-blender, and my wizard cast his flight spell to get him well out of the vamps charge range. On his turn, Chris moved the Ancient One back towards my main force assaulting the front (the thing moves like 18 inches!) ready to charge them next turn from the back. I started putting speed bumps, er, brethren in front of the nasty vampire to give my heroes time to get up the stairs. The fighting on the stairs was pretty brutal....and both Possessed were wounded after taking a lot of hits and spells. I got a couple of very lucky step-aside rolls go my way to keep them upright. My ranged group continued to move towards the middle to take some shots now that the vampire threat was elsewhere. It continued like this for a couple of turns and Chris was in rout check territory but passed the first with an unholy relic, passed the second and third on Ld. Finally, things on the stairs were going my way a bit more and I managed to take out a hero or two in hth. On Chris' turn he passed his rout check, but decided to rout anyway with his vampire mired in combat with my brethren, and my nastiest heroes ready to charge in on his remaining guys in the keep. Win for the Possessed! I took a lot of wounds during the game, but only had 2-3 brethren henchmen taken out (only one died and got re-hired) and that was it. I killed maybe 8-9 of Chris's guys including a couple of heroes ( one hero was permenantly killed off when he rolled a 14 for injury, ouch). Most all of his henchmen survived though. I got the mortar (which I sold ) and my leader picked up the Hochland Long Rifle ( Cool!). Amazingly, neither fired a shot during the game due to it being night and all. Rolled double 5's in exploration which turned out to be a paltry 4 gold, but that was OK with me after winning the mortar and rifle in a hard fight.(To be continued...)

| The Battle for the FarmThe Further Revenge of the Furryfootes upon the Righteous Guiles' torch sputtered in the miserable rain. The thief had scouted ahead of his fellow Furryfootes to confirm that these farmers were chaos worshipers. So far he had seen nothing as the Big People stayed huddled in their hovels. Guiles crept toward the stone shed through the mud and slush.
"There he is!" shouted a familar but unwelcome voice. "Its one of those meddling kids! Get him!"
Guiles could hear hounds bay and the shrill whinnies of horses. The theif looked about frantically for a place to hide. Guiles burrowed further into the sodden wood. The sounds of pursuit drew rapidly closer. Guiles could hear the hounds growling.
"Where is the little mutant?" cursed one of his pursuers.
Guiles broke for the nearest building. Suddenly a Big Man loomed out of the rain.
"Who be ye?" challenged the man. "Ye be one of the Outsiders! Die!" He hefted a wicked looking hay fork with sharp metal tines. Guiles couldn't really tell if the farmer was a mutant or not but he shot the man down all the same.
"You will pay for his murder little mutant." A Big Man on a tall horse loomed out of the rain. "Only the Righteous may execute heretics, thus you are doubly damned." A hound growled from behind Guiles. The thief tried to turn to see all of his tormentors, but he was almost surrounded. Guiles tensed for a charge. Then he noticed the closest hound was looking at something beyond the theif.
"Fire at will" shouted Brandiwick. A volley of arrows and bolts slammed into the circle of hounds and riders. Hounds yelped in pain. The closest horse and rider crashed to the ground amid flailing limbs. Halfling warriors brandishing spears rushed to support their theif.Post Battle - playtable wrote:

Of course the 2 heroes were backed up by Brentway, Brandiwick, 3 scouts and a warrior. And reinforced with 3 spear weilding warriors. And the limited fields of fire just happened to be the routes chosen to approach Guiles by the attackers... The Furryfootes lost one of the New Scouts to the Righteous Bros' Tilean. Guiles discovered a Griffon's nest in Exploration, but was only able to steal 2 eggs before the Griffon showed up. The Furryfootes gain 119 gc from the stolen eggs plus a small amount from the six ones. The hired theif failed to steal anything from the local settlement, but he wasn't caught either.

| Week 14--Roll the Wagons! The HermitGuiles crept across the frozen ground toward the welcoming glow of the fire-lit cave mouth. It was a lonely night, clear enough though the moons gave scant light to see by. A rickety ladder led down into the depths. Guiles hoped fervently that this was the right cave. As he mounted the ladder a hound bayed in the distance. Guiles hurried down the ladder.
"Guiles my lad, what kept you?" asked a familair voice from the shadows of the cave. Guiles felt the thrill of fear, joy and hope all at the same time. He had never hoped to hear that voice again. "I have been waiting ever so long."
"Gadabout?" said Guiles.
"Why of course!" said the Warlock as he bustled into the firelight. "You are late as usual, we really must hurry lad. Grab that bag there, no the one on the left."
"Hurry?" gasped Guiles as he sought the right parcel amid the choas of the cavern. The old Warlock seemed changed some how, stronger. Not what you would expect from the dead, even a dead Warlock. The fire suddenly died, the Warlock gripped Guiles shoulder and pushed the thief toward the shaddowy ladder.
"Yes hurry!" Gadabout repeated testily. "You lot are tardy as usual and the Ancient One is on the move. We should really be elsewhere, don't you think?"
"The Ancient One?" stammered Guiles as he stumbled up the ladder out into what now seemed the bright moonlight.
"Yes dear tasty Rabbit," said an exotic feminine voice. Guiles stared in terror at the pale, beautiful woman on the crest of the hill above him. "Though I do perfer the title the Eternal One. 'Ancient' sounds so OLD don't you think?"
"Ummm..." stammered Guiles.
"Quick give me the bag!" demanded Gadabout as he waved his staff menacingly at the vampire above them. Guiles handed over the parcel while trying to draw his crossbow pistol. Gadabout rummaged in the bag for a moment. "Wrong bag. Oh well can't be helped now." The Warlock gripped the little thief by the shoulders and drew him close. "Run!" he whispered.
Guiles flew toward the low cliff he had climbed to reach the cave's mouth. The thief had no time to look for handholds, he just leapt into the night. Guiles landed safely and scampered away from the cliff. From above he could hear Gadabout chanting what Guiles assumed to be a spell. Trerrible laughter rang through the night.
"Oh Gandabout! You say the nicest things," the Ancient One's voice rang with a threat rather than ammusement. Guiles glanced over his shoulder in time to see the vampire leap from the crest of the hill toward the defiant Warlock. Amazingly the vampire landed poorly and nearly fell prone. Gadabout took the opportunity to leap over the cliff after Guiles. "Keep running!" he shouted.Post Battle Rolling two sixes to fail a diving charge was the extent of Chris' bad luck. The Furryfootes suffered rubber arrow syndrome again. Despite excellent feilds of fire and ample targets, no Lahmian was even out of action when the halflings fled. The piggy (I hired a pig.) and 2 warriors would have died, however the halflings found a local Faerie Ring and everyone lived. The Halflings could have traded with a caravan at a nearby ford, but I was too flustered by the narrow escape. The hired thief stole nothing and the Furryfootes traveled on to their next adventure.

| A Skirmish on a Sunny Winter Day
"Whoa there," called Stimp as he hauled on the reins. The big horses slowed to a halt with a jingle of trace chains. Stimp set the brake and let the Great Ones jaw while he had a pipe.
"Guiles signals caution," observed Brandiwick as he leaned over the wagon's side. "Mayhap you should ride ahead and scout things out. Take Piggy for a trot while you're at it."
Pip looked out at the little stream in front of them. There was a small bridge, just big enough for the wagon to cross if the horses didn't shy. The water wasn't frozen, but the stream was barely wider than the wagon was long. Still Pip supposed the bridge was a blessing.
Pip leaned over away from the wagon and spat at the muddy road. The pony gave a little side step but settled well enough when the scout gave the reins some tension. "Caution, eh?" said the scout. "What do you suppose spooked Guiles."
"I'm right here," said Guiles in a loud voice. The thief was perched on the crumbling wall of a ruined watchtower five spear-lengths distant. "You can just ask me. There's a bunch of Big Men gathered to the east.. They don't look friendly."
"Oh," said Pip. "I allow I could go visit them." The little scout kicked the pony into a walk. "Hup, hup, Piggy!" he called to the pig rolling in the muddy road. The pig rolled to its feet and jogged after the pony.
"Pull us in next to that tower Stimp," ordered Brandiwick. "Gives us a nice view of the bridge."
"Hey!" called Pip as two warhounds rushed toward the bridge growling and barking. Guiles shot one. Piggy squealed in shock as an arrow grazed its flank. The pig swung its head to find its tormentor, focused on the hound and charged!
"Oh look, shouted Guiles. "There's an ogre!"
Post Battle The Witch Hunters gave it up with the Tilean, the ogre and a bunch of henchmen down. Herr Black died of his wounds, or perhaps it was Herr Green. I can't remember if the body had a hat...
The Furryfootes suffered no losses as their archery seemed to improve 300% when not shooting at nasty walking dead things. The remains of a slaughtered warband were located and looted. In addition the hired thief stole some Blessed Water from the local settlement's temple. Brother Deihl says Ranald makes stolen water work better.

| The Furryfoote Company began week 14 with a rating of 511. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Week 14--Other BattlesThe CaravanPlaytable gets to use all of his wagons. - playtable wrote:

Daytime, good weather. 2 wagons went north and I sacrificed one wagon off to the south to draw off his troops but it wasn’t enough. Too many troops and a kick-ass flying hero. I lost. 1 henchdog died, horse died I am down to 1 horse now. And to think of all those “ride” skills that could have gone to something better. 'Red' MacDougal lost a pit fight and another horse. Bob was unavailable for comment. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Another Battle for Another FarmNick's Middenheimers fought the Lahmians over the plunder of another large farm. The Middenheimers report a victory over the forces of Darkness. No casualties are reported. Middenheim reports no deaths, the Lahmians made no report. ________________________________________________________________________________________ The Thing in the Woods - Harganok wrote:
- Almost forgot this week so I'll keep it brief.
We played Thing in the Woods. We both ended up taking a Thing out of action. One of my possessed (Gort) got too close and too jumpy and charged into some of TJ's fodder (he was frenzied). Not wanting to leave him hanging with no support, I charged in some more guys. Which was a mistake. I had a bunch of henchmen and a couple of heroes go out.
Amazingly, no henchmen died and heroes came out without injury EXCEPT for Gort, the frenzied possessed, who died (which was sad). I bought a new possessed with a few mutations from the big stash I had built up in case such a thing were to occur, though it does suck to lose one of the more veteran nasties. All further battles against the Champions will be fought by brethren while everyone else hides in buildings - TJ wrote:

We played A Thing in the Woods. We both put the Things down pretty quick and easy and smashed into each other in the center I took out alot of his guys. He took out my hounds and my forsaken and a TitW took out a marauder. John routed. I lost a dog, my marauder suffered the Curse. of the Balewolf ________________________________________________________________________________________ The Ancient Battlefield - Quote :
- Righteous Brothers vs Chris’s Vampires.
Ancient Battlefield. Night! We could only see artillery dice x2, which is not much. Stopped my best chance with shooting. 3 crossbows set up with good position and cover only got to shoot once, I think. I had his vampire down to 1 wound and he was sweating things but I could not finish the job. I lost. 2 heroes and 4 henchmen went OOA, but NO deaths!!! I get enough gold crowns to add 2 flagellants! Lots of experience, (he was over 100 rating more than me.) My new LGT flagelland hero has I4, 2A, step aside, and strongman

| The Wagons are BEAUTIFULLY painted/modeled pieces...I especially like the Beer Wagon. They more than make up for the lack of actual Battle Report Photos. GREAT WORK, playtable! | |
