| The sinister fiend Von Roker! Of course! It all makes sense now. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Week 6--The Empire in FlamesWe returned to the rural setting of the Empire in Flames (heavily revised) this week. Special campaign rules were back in effect, sort of. Most games were played with the weather rules, but Exploration and trading rules were about 60/40 between standard Mordheim and EiF. A Wolf Hunt in the WildernessThe Righteous Brothers, da Mob a Dux and Rob's Skaven clashed amid a slaughter of local wildlife. Few wolves were abroad in the driving rain, so the warbands turned on each other... The Skaven occupied an abandoned Garden of Morr. The Righteous Bros smite infidel wolves in the name of Sigmar. Da Mob a Dux advanced from the north. ...and got stuck in! Meanwhile on the western flank, the Righteous are hard pressed. The last stand of 'Red' McDougal. Death lurks behind that pine, Post Battle - playtable wrote:

We started off with 3 wolves, Chad got 1, and I got 2. Even though, as a 3 player game, we upped the chance by a 1 or 2, not just on a 1, we never got anymore. We fought in daylight, the weather was Driving Rain: -1 to shooting, and no black powder (which affected no one). I forgot to shoot with the Tilean marksman over half of the time. We ended up with Rob in the middle. He split his warband and still won. I failed my 1st route test, even with the Hearts of Steel spell working. I did like using the Kislev Ranger, so after the battle I hired one with the last of my gold. I have 12 warriors (counting 3 dogs), a tilean, and a ranger. Heroes Capt. Von Hielmans Warrior Priest, Father Geoff Peterson Witch Hunter, Wilde Oscar II Witch Hunter, Alfred Hitchcork III Witch Hunter, "Red" McDougle II Flagellant, Jay Leno won 3, lost 8 4 dead heroes, 12 dead henchmen so far... 224 rating. Da Mob a Dux lost two orc henchment killed. One hero suffered an Old Battle Wound. As usual no one recorded the Skaven losses.

| Playtable has an early lead in the Heroes Killed competition, at least if you only count an dead Ogre Hero as equaling one dead Witch Hunter. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Adventures of the Furryfootes--All Along the WatchtowerThere was much groaning and nashing of teeth when I rolled the scenario The Watchtower. I was convinced that half of my warband would be wiped out by Myth's Protectorate. (The defender starts with half of his warband on the table, must light a beacon to summon the rest and is a sitting duck.) Myth in turn was sure that the dead-eye halflings would pincushion his poor lads before the halflings could be stomped into the ground. (Myth is a pessimist.) As usual we were both wrong. The defender starts with a cache of free weapons. Of course of the free weapons only spears could be used by halflings, but the halflings have to be warriors or heroes. I haven't had any warriors live... Myth graciously allowed a team of 2 halflings to fire the Hunting Rifle... "Halt who goes there!" The sound of the shrill, boyish voice froze the templars in place as they crossed the open ground before the tower.
"Light the beacon Ana!" shouted another youthful voice. The templars looked in amazement as a huge blaze ignited on the tower's battlements. "Archers secure the graveyard on the right!" ordered the Hierarch Davon. "The rest of you follow me to the bridge."
"Lets see if this thing works," said Gangly Halftoe as he adjusted his aim at a large Man who was shouting and gesturing with a bright sword. Roundy struggled under the weight of the heavy barrel, but managed to steady it quite well he thought.
Kaboom! The long rifle spoke with a roar. Gangly was nearly knocked over by the recoil. When the smoke cleared the Man was down but crawling toward the bridge. "Archers!" shouted Roundy. "Yike!" he said as a crossbow bolt nicked his shoulder. Roundy collapsed in a heap. Gangly struggled to hold the weight of the huge weapon as he reloaded. More crossbow bolts shattered on the stone walls of the tower, Roundy covered his head and moaned.
Gangly could see an Ogre running toward the bridge follwed by a mob of Men.Ana Gornavich surveys the battle. The first wave crosses the bridge. Halfling reinforcements arrive from the south! Gadabout shouts "Ye shall not pass!" He is cut down by the pesky Hierarch Davon... The impossibly brave and lucky scout, Forlorn Hope, holds the Ogre at bay. Hervey (and his blunderbuss) arrives at the south bridge. (Hervey is a pirate!) The Protectorate's archers. Post Battle The Forlorn Hope fell to the Ogre. Brentway and New Cook fell as well. With half of the band down, Brandiwick gave it up. Roundy died. New Cook got better. Brentway suffered Multiple Injuries but Survived Against the Odds! The halflings encountered some fellow refugees in their flight from the battle, but the gits lied to the halflings. A new scout is hired. - Myth wrote:

| Thanks Al. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Week 6 ContinuedThe Battle for the FarmMiddenheimers fought the Champions of Chaos for the loot of a sinister farmstead...note the chaotic magical fulcrum. Champions of Chaos may be the primed warriors (or these may be proxy farmers, its hard to tell). The horses represent Chaos Knights. The red and blue warriors are from the City of the White Wolf. The minotuar is actually an ogre bodyguard... The battle is not going well for the Middenheimers... Post Battle The Champions of Chaos won the fight. Captain Aewen aus Middenheim was killed. Other Middenheimers may have died as well. ________________________________________________________________________________________ The WarmachineThe Night Goblins had occupied an abandoned Imperial outpost, which came complete with a working mortar. The Ancient One decided to relieve the goblins of their toy... Horrible things happen to the goblins... Post Battle The goblins attempted to use the strategy from their last encounter with the Lahmians; shoot the Vampire. Sadly for the goblins the Ancient One is now T6... Several goblin minions are killed. Some heroes receive horrible wounds but survive. The undead collect a mortar... ________________________________________________________________________________________ X Marks the SpotThe Champions of Chaos disputed a lost treasure with their nemesis, the Lahmians. Post Battle As usual the lowly minions suffered while the Chaos Knight and the Vampire recorded more kills. A Thrall dies on the Lahmian side. The Champions of Chaos found and kept the treasure. The minions of Chaos also discovered a Faire Ring in exploration, which they destroyed and defiled. The Champions of Chaos are now cursed. ________________________________________________________________________________________ A Skirmish on a Frozen NightThe Middenheimers attempted to thwart the designs of the Night Goblins on an icy hillside. Details of the skirmish are scarce but the survivors told of suffering the loss of the captain and five warriors after the two actions. (The Battle for the Farm and the Skirmish.) | |

Fog and luck, eh? What if they fought the Furryfootes? ________________________________________________________________________________________ Episode 10--A Skirmish in the Fog"I think we should move toward the left," said Gadabout. Several of the Halflings wondered if that meant the Warlock's left or their left? Either way it appeared they had returned to the site of their earlier defeat as they wandered through the fog cloaked valley. No one challenged them from the burned out tower.
"I think we should stop for Elevenses before it rains," said Brentway, who as usual had more important things on his mind. "No one could see the smoke of our fire anyway."
"Perhaps we could ask these Men where we are," suggested Forlorn, who as usual had point. The scout was peering over a stone wall at a mist shrouded bridge. "Well met good fellows, where are we?"
"A Mist Daemon!" shouted an unseen human voice from beyond the wall.
"Kill it!" shouted another voice. Before Forlorn could react a tall warrior vaulted the wall and stuck a dagger into the surprised scout. More men (and several women) rushed forward brandishing swords and spears. All of them were howling and shouting warcries. The Furryfootes' cries of alarm and recognition of their esrtwhile allies were lost in the uproar. The Halflings fired several arrows as Gadabout began to chant a spell.Post Battle The Furryfootes let the Middenheimers get too close. Three scouts were killed before a cease fire was arranged by the fleeing Halflings. Despite their haste to be away the Halflings pause to save some lost children. Two scouts are recruited to replace the losses. 2 Middenheimers were killed by arrows. However all of the heroes survived for once and exploration was kind.

Have you noticed that I have not fought the Righteous Brothers? Its been 7 weeks now. I haven't fought Chad's warband either... Sadly I ran into the Champions of Chaos on week 7. On another note, I got ahold of Nick's warband roster after our battle so I thought I'd share. Nick's warband after 5 battles: - Quote :

| Week 7--Not so Lucky SevenThe Shifting Paths"Stay on the path Comerades," admonished the Ranger Ana Gornavich. "The Old Forest, tricksy is. But stay on the path Ana chose for you, Little Comerades, and all will be well."
"Yes, by the gods, stay on the path!" added Gadabout. The Furryfoote Company looked about them. Over head the skeletal branches nearly blocked out the weak winter sun. The halflings could see nothing but gray trunks, snow and tangles of thorny vines all about them. The path stretched ahead and behind like a living tunnel.
"Where is Guiles?" asked Hervey innocently.
"Guiles?" said Brandiwick. "Why he was right here not a minute ago..." The Ranger and the Warlock looked at each other. This could not be good.
A hunting horn broke the silence. The howls of hounds answered the horn. The halflings could hear the sounds of a host crashing through the forest around them.
"The Beast!" cried Gadabout. "The Enemy hunts!"
"The Beast?" "Is the Beast the Enemy?" "Does Guiles have all the tea in his pack?"
The path forked. From the west the sounds of the Hunt drew closer. To the south the path forked again. Ana crouched at the junction.
"We must go south," she said. "Hurry Comerades Furryfeet!"
Suddenly the branches cracked and shook as something tried to burst through the undergrouth from the west. The halflings all trained their bows on the tangled wall of branches. A small pale hand thrust a branch away, Everyone could see Guiles chubby face trapped in the vines.
"Help!" shouted the thief. "They are just behind me! Oh Hervey, the Hounds are coming!"
The Furryfootes rushed to help their friend win free of the vines, The howls of the hounds rang closer. The halflings could hear shouts from the huntsmen. The earth shook with the beat of heavy hooves. Guiles broke free of the vines. He lunged to the far side of the path, facing west. Guiles' crossbow pistol appeared in his right hand, covering the western wall of the path. Everyone noted that Guiles left hand held a heavy sack close to his body. The rest of the company fell back as well.
"Its gone!" cried Brentway.
"What?" What's gone?" "Guiles do you have the tea?"
"The fork in the path! Its gone," Brentway pointed at the unbroken wall of branches, vines and tree trunks to the west, There was no fork in the path anymore. The path curved south, unbroken.
"We must flee to the south," said Ana. "Hurry!"
"No," said Guiles. "The way is blocked." He raised his pistol and fired at a target around a bend of the curving southern path. New Cook screamed a warcry. The Enemy was upon them!Post Battle Rob found himself between the halflings and the Champions of Chaos. Naturally he attacked the halflings while trying to hold off the Champions. In the confusion the Assassin Adept fled the battle to pursue a forest mirage. He gained +1 experiece. One verminkin was killed trying to hold back Chaos. The Skaven break first. But not before a black skaven kills New Cook. Guiles sufferes a Hand Injury and loses his treasure. The skaven that stole it off Guiles' body drops the prize in the rout. But TJ's warriors crash through the path before the Halflings can reclaim the treasure. All the other casualties recover. A scout gains Lads got Talent to replace the fallen Ogre. The Furryfootes encounter Nomads, but decline to trade with them. As I recall the Champions gained much gold, spent lavishly and searched for another victim... (to be continued)

Played an X Marks the Spot game (hidden treasure) which I won. Weather was driving rain, during the daytime.
First couple of turns sees both of us searching some ruins, but with no luck on finding anything. Eventually, we had a good fight in the middle of the board where I put several of my guys up against Chris' T6 vampire with like 3 or 4 wounds. Eventually I came out on top against the vampire when a possessed scored crits in 2 consecutive rounds of combat, and a very lucky mutant (who needed 6 to wound) actually got the 6 he needed to take off the vamps last wound with a rabbits foot re-roll!
My leader located the chest in the last place to be searched, and I took out a few more of Chris' henchmen before the vampires routed. Got some minor loot from the treasure chest and a big boost from being 102 point underdogs. Don't remember exploration being anything stellar, and not sure how Chris's guys came out after the battle, one of my possessed was robbed. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Chance Encounter in the WildsThe end of da Mob au Dux came via Bob's shooty little Night Goblin warband. The Big Un Wazz was killed along with a couple of more hench-orcs. With only three heroes and no teef the orcs give it up as a bad job. Chad disbands Da Mob for a second time. ________________________________________________________________________________________ The Settled LandsBlood On the Pasturelands - Nick wrote:

The Witch Hunters defeat was avenged by the exploration result An Empire Patrol. The Night Goblins' hired ogre is killed and several other goblins are wounded. ________________________________________________________________________________________ More Battles in the WildsSkirmish - Nick wrote:

Wilderness, day time, weather did not bother us but I don't remember what it was. I made the last place to search to be off to the side a little closer to me. My guy grabbed the chest and moved it 2". That was as far as he ever got. Log cabin divided both warbands so there was 2 sets of fighting going on. It was pretty bloody. LOTS of HTH. We each had 4 henchmen go OOA. all 4 of mine lived - WOW both games no one died for me, major victory of sorts!!! John had all 4 of his die. But then my Witch Hunters ARE the Righteous Brothers Band and John has Possessed/Chaos...what would you expect? - Harganok wrote:
- Game 2 vs. Jim's Witch Hunters -
Played another X marks the Spot game against the pesky Witch Hunters which I also won. Weather was clear, during the daytime. The board was pretty open, so I started to get shot early on by the Witch Hunters and lost a henchman or 2 to various crossbow bolts and black powder. Eventually I was able to hide most of my crew around a house in the niddle while Jim moved up to search for treasure, eventually finding it on the last place to be searched. After claiming the chest, my band of evil-doers began to pile out toward the two guys hauling it.
Most of my guys and a good number of Jim's guys started brawling around the middle house, while a lone possessed managed to reach the chest carriers. After a couple of rounds, the fight in the middle was fairly even, and I had taken some earlier losses so was begininning to take rout tests. However the lone possessed cleaned up the mercenary scum trying to haul the treasure chest pretty handily and claimed the chest for us.
Jim was forced to start taking tests and failed the very first rout test on double six boxcars (I think he had a spell active that was also giving him LD 10 on routs too) that gave the win to the possessed. The chest was a total bust...I think I got about 15 gold, but failed all the other rolls so got nothing. To continue with the trend of piss-poor rolling, every single model that went out for me rolled a 1 or a 2 (some henchman and a pit fighter) and died! Again, exploration was kind of a bust...rolled double 3's but since I had already been witnessed sacrificing children before, it counted as double 1's. Other than that, everyone else survived unscathed.

| Episode 12--Defend the Monolith"We must try!" Gadabout was adamant. "If we destroy the Chaos Heart, the Enemy will wither."
"The forest will be cleansed," added Ana Gornavich. "Please Comerades Furryfeets."
"Very well ,we will seek out this thing of evil," Elder Brandiwick said. "Yet we are so few," The halfling's heart was heavy with the loss of New Cook. It seemed the Enemy was strong and numerous.
"Put doubt aside," said Gadabout. "We must be resolute. Avenge the Cooks!"
"Avenge Cook!" cried the halflings.
Soon the Furryfoote Company found themselves advancing through a darker, more sinister part of the forest. The bare trees seemed to loom like gigantic beasts. The branches clutched at cloaks. Sharp thorns tore at exposed flesh. The weak winter sun had disappeared though it was scarce past Elevenses, which the halflings had missed by the way... The sword, Glam Ring, burned brightly in Gadabouts hand.
"We are near the Chaos Heart," Gadabout nearly whispered. "But something is amiss. The sword burns bright, too bright. Strong enemies are near as well."
A howl sounded from the deep darkness to the west. A horn answered the howl. Something huge roared in the distance.
"We are undone!" cried Gadabout. "The Beast is abroad in the forest. Flee toward the heights, the hounds and their Masters can not follow us there."
A pair of hideous, mishapen hounds loped out of the gloom. The halflings met them with a volley of arrows. One yelped and fell wounded but the other seemed to focus only on Ana Gornavich. The beast howled and charged the ranger. The surrounding forest rang with blasts from the horn, the cries of Men and neighing horses.
"Flee!" cried Ana as she met the hound with her blade.
"Climb for your lives!" ordered Gadabout. Brandiwick and Brentway scrambled up the rocky cliff. Hervey struggled to find a foothold.
"Hail Gablout!" shouted a warrior clad in robes the color of dried blood. In the warrior's left hand a sword burned with a sickly greenish fire. "We meet again, my very old friend. Do you shelter rabbits now?" The foul warlock gestured to the halflings with his blade. The halflings shrank from the green fire.
"Goren Sourman!" cried Gadabout. "Have you betrayed our Order? You fool! You think to bargain with Chaos?"
"Fool! You call ME a fool!" The engraged warlock spoke words of Power. Suddenly he had flown across the clearing and was attacking Gadabout. Bright showers of sparks flashed as the firey swords met. Gadabout fell back wounded.
"I shall finish you," leered the Evil One.
"Shall not!" shouted Gangy Mosstoe. The diminutive scout slashed at the evil warlock's legs with his dagger. The green sword disappeared as Goren tried to meet the unexpected attack.
"For the Bright Order!" shouted Gadabout as he dealt Goren a mighty cut. Goren screamed in terror and fell .
"YOU KILL GORE, YOU PAY!" shouted a huge ogre as it burst from the trees. Two armored knights were right behind the ogre. More warriors ran through the trees screaming for blood...Post Battle The Furryfoote heroes and Gadabout climbed a handy cliff. None of the scouts made it up the cliff, nor did Ana. 2 scouts died. The Furryfootes (warband rating 227) routed. As often happens when the Furryfootes are fleeing, they took time to save some poor children whom they found wandering lost in the horrible forest. The Champions (warband rating 396) were rewarded with a Stone of Warding for 'saving' the Chaos Heart. They also shot a defenseless stag to make more money..

Gadabout and Ana maxxed out before they could gain 9. @SerialMoM--Great photos of your games. Nice work on the car wrecks. _____________________________________________________________________________ Episode 13--All Along the Watchtower Princes Kept the ViewAn idyillic scene. Gangy Mosstoe sleeps in the unusually warm winter sun, his back to a warm rock. Brandiwick, Brentway and Ana Gornavich share a cold luch on the battlement of the watchtower as they tend the beacon. The Furryfoote Company has contracted to tend this out of the way watchtower on the edge of the wilds. Hervey, Pip and Guiles have accompanied Gadabout to post letters back to the Moot and recruit any willing lads who might be idling about locally. They were not expected back for several days. Little do the Furryfootes know that hostile eyes are watching them from the edge of the Great Forest...
"Have another leg Ana," offered Brandiwick. "The spices aren't up to Cook's standards..." The little gathering became uncomfortably quiet. Brandiwick turned away to look out over the surrounding countryside. Suddenly unable to eat another bite, the Elder tossed the contents of his plate over the side of the battlement.
"Watch it then, you little..." an angry voice cried from directly below. Brandiwick looked down in shock. Down below him was a skirmish line of Men...and Women. They had gotten nearly to the tower. If he hadn't mentioned Cook just then...
"Ana light the beacon! Now!" shouted Brandiwick as he reached for his crossbow. "The Middenheimers are attacking!" Post Battle Nick failed his first rout test! Woot! (Otherwise Hervey, Guiles and Pip were toast.) Hervey killed another Man, but Gadabout recovered from his wounds. The post battle sequence goes all the Furryfootes' way. Money rains down from everywhere (winning the Watchtower scenario is much better than losing it). 2 scouts and another ogre are recuited and a Priest of Ranald is hired to replace New Cook. It also helped that I hadn't spent any money while campaigning in the Forest. The Middenheimers invest in a Holy Relic.

| Week 8--More Hunting and RaidingThe SlaversA Frenzied Mob scenario "The Enemy is too strong!' shouted Gadabout. "Get the survivors to safety!" The warlock was supporting a wounded farmer with his left arm as he brandished Glam Ring with his right. The sword burned brightly. The small village was already overrun by the forces of Evil. Screams and warcries filled the air. Hervey and Ragnal each rescued a villager, but it was too litle too late. Guiles was wounded, but trying to retreat. The thief was harried by hounds, who killed teh unfortunate Guiles was trying to save.
"Brentway take the one on the left," ordered Brandiwick as Guiles stepped around a corner. "Shoot them down!"
The vicious hounds yelped as crossbow bolts slammed into them.
Suddenly the Ancient One stepped between the crossbows and the wounded hounds.
"Harm my poor pets not!" Although the Ancient spoke a language dead to this world for centuries the halflings understood the command.
"Flee you fools!" shouted Gadabouot as he moved to block the vampire. He was not going to make it. The fiend was just a spear length from the Elder. But the terrible eyes turned toward the bright sword.
"Again you try to thwart Us," the Ancient said with a smile. "Very well, the sweet rabbits cannot escape Us." The vampire charged the warlock. Gadabout raised Glam Ring, but the Ancient's fell blade swept past his guard. "Die Foolish One!" growled the beautiful fiend.
Gadabout fell with a strangled cry. "Flee!" he said once more. Then the warlock was silent.Post Battle Gadabout was killed... Or was he? Perhaps the Furryfootes will meet a familiar face when next they visit the Great Forest... Brandiwick suffers Horrible Scars. A newly recruited scout died. The rest of the halflings fled once Brandiwick fell. The Halflings rescued 3 villagers, the Lahmians killed 3 and enslaved 3 (including the poor fellow Gadabout was trying to save.) But the Furryfootes lost Victory Points for routing (what a surprise) and lost. Despite the loss of Gadabout the Furryfootes do well in exploration. The Lahmians may or may not have suffered some minor losses, I forget. I believe they encoutered Nomads to trade with .

Thanks Al! As you might have guessed the camera stayed home this past week. Maybe it will appear before the holidays... _______________________________________________________________________________________ Week 8 ContinuedUpon the Eerie Downs - Myth wrote:
- Protectorate of Sigmar got slaughtered. Only one hero survived the battle which was the fog one (Can't remember the name.) Dismissed Baltar, my acolyte with the most wounds and flaws, to make room for new hero. Lost a swordsman, my leader gained Frenzy, Fiora the sprinting swordswoman has a maimed leg, Gaius was a full recovery, Proximo was a full recover, my hiring Ogre lived

- My game against the Protectorate was super rough [for Myth].
Misreading a rule made it slow going and Myth forgot he wasnt allowed to rout, which led to far too much violence.
I found 5 shards to sell and bought myself a warhorse for a marauder hero and my last chaos warrior got ride so he could use my other chaos steed. A henchmen died no other casualties on my end. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Wolf Hunt - Harganok wrote:
- The Black Spiral Dancers won the 3 way wolf hunt against the 2 resident Witch Hunter warbands in a very long but good game. Weather was normal, during the day. I got lucky with the 2nd pack of wolves showing up right behind me and ended up killing 6 altogether.
I started taking wounds early from Jim L's shooting me, but managed to get into cover and avoid losing any guys in the first few turns. I actually pegged one of Jims dogs with a fire arrow and it ran around yipping and glowing brightly, but I think was taken out of action by Chad before the fire did any damage. The possessed worked their way to the middle and hid some guys behind a cabin, and moved up the right flank to tangle with a flagellant and some mercs. Jim and Chad had an argument about who's Witch Hunters were more pious, and started battling near the middle cabin. Jim eventually had to rout after taking some casualties.
I finally got some targets and charged into Chad who held steady for a round or two but his guys started to get knocked down and fell prey to some countercharges and Valnir the flying wizard, who was on cleanup duty. Another battle on the other side of the cabin saw a group of shot up, half dead beastmen take charges and hold their ground like champs without going out of action.
I took out the 6 wolves, one or 2 of Chads heroes and some of his henchmen. Can't remember if I ever actually succeeded in killing any of Jims guys, however he took out one of my brethren (who died). One possessed also went out of action, but came back with a couple screws loose and became frenzied! My elf ranger ally was a total bust and didn't wound anything the entire game.
In exploration I found a friendly settlement and killed a stag so I got a bit more for my money in trading wyrdstone. Used money to round out my group to a full 15 members and broke 300 warband rating. - playtable wrote:
- 1st game
Wolf Hunt John picked the 1st side, me the 2nd side, I set up next to John, (figuring Chad would set up on the other side of John and double-team the high warband) Chad set up 3rd and putt me in the middle. Arrrgh.
Try as I might to wait for Chad's warband to get close to the Possessed, it just didn't work. I routed first. Results were 3 heroes OOA along with some henchmen. Red MacDougle II had to miss the next game but the other 2 were OK. A wardog and Terrible Tom, my 2 dagger zealot who has done some awesome fighting, both died. John got most of the wolves, I got 1 maybe 2, Chad got some, more than 2. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Another Wolf Hunt - Nick wrote:
- The Crusaders of the Exalted Coin, my warband, did well tonight. First against Bob and his goblins. We went on a wolf hunt. We each killed 2 wolves. I killed one of his best heroes permanently. The only lasting casualty I suffered was the elf that joined me on my hunt.
The Night Goblins lose Nubs da Nyfe, a dead killy knife fighter. ________________________________________________________________________________________ The Battle for the Farm - Nick wrote:
- Then I played Jim L. and his witch hunters. We were, for some reason, killing farmers. We slayed a bunch of em. I took out a few of his heroes and some grunts. He took out a hero. I don't remember any important deaths.
I have lots of gold right now. - Quote :
- 2nd game,
I lost again. Terrible Tom II died also. Really need to bring my camera to jog my memory.
15 games - 4 wins, 11 losses - 4 dead heroes, 15 dead henchmen 0 gc, 287 rating, 12 members + 2 hired swords.
ONE henchman has gotten a BS increase. My hero and henchman flagellants are both WS4. My Warrior Priest is WS5. NO ONE ELSE, hero, henchman, or hired sword has gotten a WS or BS increase. (Except for Terrible Tom who was WS3 and is now dead.) My consolation is that 3 heroes have more than 1 wound. I always looked at Witch Hunters as a shooty warband with some mean hand to handers. Normally a good mix. Not working much for me yet.

| Really dig that artwork for week 8, VK. Reminds me of a few characters from my band stalking about in a sleepy little town.
And a halfling that now causes fear.......those must be some horrible scars indeed

| Thanks mate! Brandiwick is not only a frightening halfling, he hates the Possessed as well! : ________________________________________________________________________________________ Further Adventures of the Furryfootes--Episodes 15 & 16The Battle for the FarmBeing the 15th Battle Suffered by the Peaceloving Furryfootes & the Fourth Against the Horrid Goblins of the Night "Give them another volley!" ordered Brandiwick. The Big People priest was bleeding on the frozen ground. Brandiwick hoped he'd live. The farmers were all dead. At least the ones who had sallied forth to fight were dead. The biggest house was burning. The goblin's ogre was running toward the halfling skirmish line from across the farmyard. It seemed like every goblin in the world was following the brute, except many of them had paused to fire their own volley of missiles.
"Fire at will!" shouted Brandiwick. Arrows and crossbow bolts slammed into the ogre. It fell with a roar. A nearby goblin fell head-over-heels behind it. The Furryfootes' line cheered! The goblins cried in dismay. Then one of the halflings' scouts scrambled around the nearest shed.
"They're all dead!" he cried. Brandiwick tried to remember the scout's name. They were all new, only Gangy Mosstoe remained of the Old Company and he was a replacement, even so. "The ogre, Frito and Dorito, all dead!" cried the scout.
Brandiwick prepared for the worst...Post Battle The battle ended in a Draw by Store Closing. The Furryfoote Company lost one scout and their THIRD Village Ogre. As playtable would say, that's 182 gc down the ... Exploration was good. The halflings rescued a wounded warband and gain more treasure. Saving for ogres is abandoned as a policy. The Night Goblins lost their Ogre Bodyguard and a snotling. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Blood on the PasturelandsAn Account of the 16th Battle, A Deadly Afray with the Rat-Devils Brandiwick could see his hands in front of this face. He could see most of his skrimish line, but the Big People's corral and its horses had disappeared in the sudden BLIZZARD. Snow was everywhere, piling deep. Bows and crossbows were useless in the driving, drifting snow.
"Forward!" ordered the Elder. "We must have those horses."
"Follow me, Rabbits," growled the Dwaf Pathfinder, Gimlet. (Gimlet of the House of Grane as far as Brandiwick could gather. The Pathfinder had arrived at their camp seeking Gadabout. Upon having been informed of the Warlock's demise, the Dwarf had grumped, "Aye, an I've heard that afore, many a time!") The burly Dwarf pushed through the snow with ease.
Suddenly a swarthy, fur-clad warrior on a shaggy horse rode at Dorito out of the storm. "Beware the Hun'g!" shouted Ana. Dorito stood his ground, as he and the horseman slashed at each other. Brentway and Hervey rushed to save their friend.
"The Moot!" shouted Brentway as he slashed at the horseman. The fellow was taken unawares. He screamed once, then he and his horse collapsed in a tangle of limbs and befouled snow, The victorious halflings had little time to savor their victory. Horrible screams could be heard from the dirction of the paddock. Something or someone was attacking the nomads from the west.
"Quickly!" shouted Brandiwick. "Let's capture horses while the Big People are distracted." The Furryfootes labored through the snow. Ana veered off to the north after a riderless horse that galloped out of the blizzard, The rest of the company rushed to the corral. Moxie leapt, well struggled, onto the back of a shaggy nag. Hervey captured another of the beasts. Suddenly Moxie cried, "Noooo!"
The scout and his mount were engulfed in a blast of green fire. Several nearby horses were caught in the blast. The rest of the company stood agast as poor Moxie and his fiery mount bolted into the storm. "The Sourman has found us!" cried Guiles.
"No tis the Rat-Devils' sorcery!" shouted Brentway. Well did the young halfling remember the bite of the green flame.
"Get the horses to safety!" ordered Brandiwick. Several of the skaven could be seen scuttling across the snow drifts toward them.Post Battle Without shooting the Furryfootes had little chance. 3 scouts and Brentway fell to skaven blades and sorcery. All recovered from their wounds, but had to miss a game due to hypothermia. The Halflings managed to capture 4 horses, but Guiles lost control of his in the rout, so they netted 3. The skaven killed most of the Outriders and captured 4 horses. With the win they were able to find a friendly (evil) settlement to trade with. Many giant rats and a Dark Elf Assassin were hired.
