During the last time it became quiet in our ongoing campaign. So we started a new campaign with some players from Cologne. With a good set of house rules (for example income was independent from the number of heroes, and armor saves got increased by one)

4711 Steps into the Abyss – Gate into Damnation

The promise of power and fortune lured uncountable adventurers to Mordheim.

As soon as the first rumors of a huge wyrdstone deposit in the Tavern/brewery of Hell emerged, it took no time for the first daring companions to gather at the entrances to the city of the dammed. After a long night spending with the local „Buzzbrew“, called after the feeling on the next day, they decided to take their chances.

The Old City Gates where either destroyed or controlled by mighty gangs. They ruthlessly charged high tolls or dues. The Disciples of the Dark Sun eve demanded humans as tribute to sacrifice to their Dark Gods in sinister rituals.

The only option left to the adventurer to enter the town was a remote hole in the outer wall near the Old Gaol.

A hunting party from Averland led by Hyronimus E. W. Stahlheim arrived first at the little hill near the hole. They eyed the area suspiciously. A small ramshackle bridge led from the peak of the hill to the place where the hole yawned in the wall. Once the hill was the seat of a small merchant house outside of the town, which was renowned for their more dubious transactions. For a long time donations helped the City Council and the garrison to look the other way. But one day, a new Captain of the City Watch established stern and donation-free regime. His tragic death in one of the back alleys only days later changed the situation drastically. The Council feared an investigation of the witch hunters and choose to act. The guard burned the mansion down. Only two small towers at the front were saved from the blaze. But the transactions of this merchant house never ceased. It even grew, and now over a small bridge, which emerged from the ruins and reached to the city wall.

Just the moment the Averlander started to move on towards the small slope upwards the hill one of the Mountaingards heard the distinctive belching of an nearby ogre. Stahlheim commanded his men to take cover. He wanted to know who he had to deal with.

Soon he recognized a small bunch of gladiators known as the Avengers, he had met in the tavern the day before. Brutal folk, armed to the teeth, they had fled the arenas of the south to try their luck in the city of the damned.

For Stahlheim it would be easy to catch them by surprise except for the sounds of drinking and battle songs from a band of Middenheimer mercenaries. A bearded giant called Gerald led them. He made his name the day before in the tavern. He tossed a man who spilled his ale through the tavern and started a huge brawl.

As than howls of wolves sounded and some tattered and gloomy people appeared, all attendees let go of their guard. The first one who passed the hole would have a clear margin before the others on the hunters for the wyrdstones.

Arrow The complete battle report on my blog.

I hope you can understand the report, i just translated it from German. If you find orthography mistakes please send me a PM. Otherwise enjoy the report Smile

Thanks Wink

We will have a multiplayer game all 6 weeks and 2-3 normal two playergames(for each player) in between.

At least each multiplayer game should have a detailed battle report, perhaps some of the minor games too.

we have 6 warbands (two couldn't attend the oppening game):
- Pit Fighters
- Middenheimer
- Averländer
Gewaltatron - Carnival Of Chaos
Grimscull - Witch Hunter
Saranor - Undead

Thanks for your editing, but could you send me next time a message with the corrections? I dug them up and included them in my blog and will check the rest of the battle report for similar mistakes.

I had another battle with my undeads. This time it was a one on one against the pit figther warband "The Avenger". The report was made by the pit fighter player, but he let me translate and post it here.

The pitfighters were led by the Trollslayer Knurt Snorrison, because their leader still suffered from his injury.
After the gladiators conquered the entrance to the city of the damned (see report before), the undead who had already one of their direwolf roaming the streets tried to break through the blockade of the gladiotor, which they had build to slow down their pursuer.

It was a real fun game. Smile

Just read the reports. Great job, thanks for struggling through the translations.

Do you have a work in progress thread for your warband?

Nice reports, especially since you have translated it all.
That last game looked like a really tactical affair.

It makes a nice change of pace when there's not a lot of missile weapons in play.
