Kleindorf Work-in-progress

As companion thread to the completed buildings for Kleindorf, I figured I'd start one for occasional updates of the Work in progress....

So,
First off, a couple of the buildings I'm planning to make when I'm a little more confident:





And, finally, some work in progress shots of the building currently sat on my terrain desk: (Apologies for the quality, I take these with my mobile rather than the full mini-studio setup)



As my wife agrees - I seem to work best in 'Creative Chaos'..




I'm not 100% sure about the door yet, but I figure I'll see what its like once the support beams are in place for the overhang & it's painted.

Still got a LOT of work to do... More windows, window shutters, timbering, chimney (Though I think I have one left over from the chapel kit I can use for that) and the roof...

Strangely, I find tiling the roof rather theraputic - Slap a disc on the PC DVD player (Usually Bill Baily or similar comedy) to listen to in the background & away we go....

LOOKIN' GOOD! The door & window are especially nice; & there are enough angles to the Beasty to make it interesting. I take it this will be an intact dwelling...even in a ruined town there should be a few untouched structures. Keep up the GOOD WORK!

Figured I'd keep y'all up to date with the progress on this one - After today's work:



Still got a LOT of timbering to do, as well as the small path I'm going to put in front of the door via flagstone textured plasticard & filler (Though I put a layer of filler on my bases anyhow to add texture).
But I'm lot happier with it now it's on a base & the front pillars are in place, as well as the roof-section timbering.

All being well, I'm planning to get the timbering finshed off tonight/tommorrow & get the build finished over the weekend. I'd do more today, but I'm waiting for the glue to dry so I don't get too enthusiastic

looking good! can't wait to see it finished!

That's coming along VERY NICELY The woodwork looks TERRIFIC...keep up the GOOD WORK!

Just have to finish the back-side of the roof, texture the walls and base, little bit of filler in places & should be ready for paint..

That's great-looking so far, well done! Loving the beams and the...uh...cross-timbering?

looks good, though I am a little confused about all the wood accents on the side, looks a bit busy.

Bit washed out from the flash.... and I'm pretty sure some of the wash on the wood was still wet

that look great maybe try to make the white a bit dirtier so it looks more realistic really like it !

That looks TERRIFIC! It's a good idea to turn off or cover the flash; it does tend to bleach out the vibrancy of the colors. Even so, it is a BEAUTIFULLY DONE piece.

Aye,I always remember when I'm taking 'finished' photos, and always forget with the mobile
Doesn't help when I've got the daylight lamp from the sode.

Well, Terrain is painted with a mix of paints - Anitia Craft Acryllic, Humbrol Acryllic, Vallejo Model Colour, Vallejo Game Colour, Citadel colour, and Sepia Ink that was supposed to be for calligraphy Oh... and the main boards (Not pictured yet) were painted with Dulux Emulsion - I used the custom-mix facility at B&Q to get a decent match for Scorched brown..

Grey Primer undercoat (I Use Halfords automotive grey primer)

Daub:
Anitas craft acryllic Tan base
Thin wash with Sepia ink
Heavy drybrush with base Tan
Heavy drybrush with tan/white mix *
Heavy drybrush with Tan/white/white mix *

Wood:
Basecoat Burnt Umber (Scorched brown more or less)
Wash Devlan mud
Drybrush Burnt Umber/Tan *
Drybrush Burnt Umber/Tan/Vallejo Model Colour Ivory *
Edge with Above with more Ivory mixed in *
Wash with GW Gryphonne Sepia

Roof Tiles:
Anita Craft Acryllic Dark Grey base
Wash with Thinned down Black
Drybrush with Dark Grey
Drybrush with Dark Grey/White *
Drybrush with Dark Grey/White/White *

Bricks:
Humbrol Matt Dark Earth Acryllic Base
Washed with GW Devlan Mud
Drybrush Humbrol Matt Dark Earth Acryllic Base
Drybrush Humbrol Matt Dark Earth Acryllic Base/Anita Tan *
Drybrush Humbrol Matt Dark Earth Acryllic Base/Anita Tan/White *

Metals Tend to be Citadel chainmail washed with Badab Black
Copper :
GW Scorched brown base
GW Shining Gold base
Wash with a mix of watered down Citadel Hawk Turqouise/Citadel Scaley Green
Drybrush GW Shining Gold
Drybrush GW Shining Gold/GW Mithril Silver

Thats so far...
I tend to experiment to some extent with each building, and the details tend to be whatever takes my fancy at the time

Sorry I didn't comment on the new photo before, but I'm torn whether I like the building more in the first or the second pic...looks FANTASTIC in either case.

That is some, simply brilliant work. Watching this!
