| Hi, I'd like you to meet Samuel the Swordsman and Curt the Crossbowman. Since my warband can't afford to hire either of them at the moment (crossbows at 25 crowns? Not in MY starting warband!) they have found temporary employment posing for the camera with my works in progress. [img] [/img] Experimental Corner Shack [img] [/img] From inside | |

| I just put this together last night. I figure some people would set up elevated platforms to better connect the ruined buildings. I still gotta paint it and add rubble around the base. [img] [/img] Which leads to my latest work-in-progress, the row houses. I still have a lot of lumber to ad, including external framing. But I'm happy with my progress so far. [img] [/img] [img] [/img] If you have any comments or suggestions I'd be glad to hear them! | |

| Good start. I'd only add some bricks on the floors. They should lie somewhere in the ruined buildings... | |

| I love Scaffolding idea to connect walkways to various buildings etc. This has so much potential, you could make them out of odds and ends broken carts, pieces of houses etc to give them that ..makshift look. I have also been thinking of using sections of broken aquaducts in a similar fashion. | |

| Thanks for the kind words, guys. I'll have newer pictures up soon when the next stage is complete. I love scaffolding, bridges and platforms, and I fully intend on having at least half the buildings be interconnected before I'm finished.
I actually though it might be fun to have a few Scenarios where the ground is Hot Lava, so like, you can't touch the ground or you're out of action. One-off games, of course. I don't think a low-initiative warband would be too happy about that if it were for keeps.
Skavenblight: I like your bricks suggestion, but what's the best way to go about making the bricks?
Horned Rat: If you made some ruined aqueducts I would be VERY interested in seeing the process/results.

| Okay, I've finished the basic timber framing and am about halfway done with the wooden flooring. I've also got some less-than-pretty (but quite functional) stairs. [img] [/img] Obviously there's still plenty to do before it's finished, but the violent peoples of Mordheim aren't known for their patience. The rest of my Reikland warband dropped by to pay Sam and Curt a friendly visit, but then some Skaven showed up and things quickly got out of hand. [img] [/img] Closeups of the battle [img] [/img] [img] [/img] They made a real mess of the place, but that's all getting painted over anyways. Construction is currently at a halt because I ran out of sticks. I'm going to stock up next time I visit the craft store! | |

| VERY NICE! Things are progressing quite well. Scenery & minis look their best when they're in each others company... EVEN as WIP pieces. | |

| Thanks for the encouragement, guys. My trip to the craft store was successful, and I returned with all the sticks I needed to finish the job. [img] [/img] Front of row houses (Complete with roofs) [img] [/img] Rear of row houses (Now with rubble!) Also made some additions to my Temple of Sigmar: [img] [/img] An altar [img] [/img] And a rope ladder | |

| I also starting working on a new building, a Fighting Pit. [img] [/img] I started with the center ring, about 6" diameter. [img] [/img] Then I made another wall layer 2" wide around it. [img] [/img] Then I topped it off and filled the inner wall with sharpened planks to keep rowdy spectators from falling in. [img] [/img] WHO IS DEADLIEST?? Obviously still very unfinished, but playable now. | |

| Got my paints out the other day, and I now officially declare the row houses to be finished. [img] [/img] Full frontal [img] [/img] Side view [img] [/img] Street level. Haggert the Bold makes his entrance. Next projects are finishing the Fighting Pit and then maybe an Archery Range, Tavern or Stables. Any suggestions? | |

| Well since you asked for suggestion....a bit of grundginess might make them look more Mordheimy, but they're COOL nonetheless. I'm looking forward to seeing how your OH SO COOL Pit Fighting Arena turns out. GREAT STUFF! | |

| I have always liked the grouped buildlings. I have been wanting to make a few myself, I just find them harder to store in my limited storage facility. I also think I might have to steal the rope ladder idea. | |

| I like how you have one of the bottom floors of your complex blocked off with rubble. It looks good. I like your tower and rope ladder too. Having the tower and being able to place it anywhere adds some cool gaming possibilities. | |

| I'm back! First off, I took the suggestions to heart and did what I could to grungy up the place: [img] [/img] I took pinches of dry dirt from the front yard and rubbed it into the walls. My models weren't too happy about the bright flash, but the "dirty effect" shows up best in the light. But what I'm more excited about right now is the fighting pit: [img] [/img] I added a few things. Things like timber framing, tile, railing, and an announcers' booth. But a building just isn't the same without some paint. [img] [/img] I made some good progress tonight, but there's still more to be done. I'm putting up flags and decorative shields, and I was thinking of adding sand to the floor of the pit. Not sure though, because that could be pretty rough on nicely painted mini's. Might do brown flock instead. | |

| Thanks for the great feedback! It's always fun to hear outside ideas and opinions.
HornedRat: If you haven't made grouped buildings before, then I highly recommend it. My row houses are a total of 12" wide and 8" at the highest point, so not too big, but if you're worried about space, I suppose you could go with a two-story setup and make something just as cool. If I was to make another set of grouped buildings, one of the things I would do differently is have the upper levels overhang the street, perhaps at different degrees to make each house look unique from the other.
Narcissus: Funny story about the rubble-strewn blocked off area... I realized that after I put the stairs in the blue house that it had become too crowded to easily move models around inside, especially around the doorway. So I said to heck with it, board it up and block it off with some convenient rubble!
I think for my next project, I'm going to start off with a ruined building, and then start adding scaffolding until it looks like someone's Dad went overboard building a treehouse.
Hey, any ideas for cool flags? I was wondering if the six human nations had their own flags, and if so, anyone know where I could find the designs?

| Flags--Some one probably has a link, but Warhammer Empire has a handy resources section.
All Empire provinces have their own flag. Games workshop has given examples in most of their Empire army books.
