Wizards, Shamans, Mystics and Sorcerers often lend their services to the various warbands that pour into Mordheim and although all magic is potentially dangerous and generally regarded as originating from Chaos, many warbands are willing to engage their services and risk persecution from the Witch Hunters on account of their power and affinity to warpstone.
The only caveat in hiring a warlock is that you not only lose your gold... you may also lose your soul.
This is
Wu Xian Yi, a Cathayan wizard schooled in the lore of Aqshy...
Wu Xian Yi is a unique character in the Mordheim mythos in the sense that he is not just a hired sword (an expensive one at that), he is a likewise a black market merchant and smuggler.
He is shrewd and scrupulous in his dealings and it is not beneath him to lie, cheat and kill just to get what he wants. There are those who whisper that he is also a cultist and a follower of Tzeentch but no living person can attest to this or for that matter, no living person will live long enough to attest to this.
Wu Xian Yi is also on a personal quest to find the stolen
Eternal Dragon of the Emperor Quang Di, a dragon statue carved from Warpstone stolen from Cathay by a Marienburg smuggler and sold to a Mordheim Merchant before the city was reduced to ashes by the twin-tailed comet. The statue is rumored to endow its possessor long life and it also bestows magical powers. Its present whereabouts remain unknown although there are rumors that a statue that matches the description of the eternal dragon has been seen in an altar used by a skaven grey-seer.
