| Greetings Fellow Travelers of the Old World! Allow me to share with you my Skaven Banner and Standard Bearer... These denizens of the underworld are obviously plague monks. I imagined that, unlike the other clan-rats, plague monks do not really go for colorful and "artistic" banners, Instead, I painted this particular banner to look as simple, austere (in blasphemous mimickry of human monks!) and as sickly as possible. The Banner is made out of "man-flesh" and blood was used to scribble their ungodly symbol upon it. Incidentally, the base was painted to look like the surface of a wet sewage floor as shown by this close-up... I hope you guys like it. | |

| COOL LOOKING Rat Guys! The standard is appropriate to the subject...& I LOVE the merry expression on the standard bearers face. The glowing green eyes on the decapitated head is a TERRIFIC touch. VERY WELL DONE! - drakkol wrote:

GREAT IDEA! The Folks that run the Renaissance Fair in Houston live in a communal setting & work their various crafts together year round. We need to forum Tom's Mordheim Commune...I vote for Tahiti as a location.

| Greetings Fellow Travelers of the Old World! @ drakkol: Thank you for the kind words! Having been to Italy myself, I also wish that I was your neighbor, I love Italy and its countryside. It is so inspiring to a hobbyist like me who collects and paints both medieval and WW2 miniatures. @ DeafNala: As always, your compliments are always inspiring and appreciated. I too dream of a world where the members of this forum could live in a tropical paradise filled with beautiful scenery, friendly hobbyists and gorgeous women clad in bikini. P.S. How do you like my new avatar? I changed it and drew a new one after I saw that I have just been "knight-ed". I hope you like my art work as well. | |

VERY PROFESSIONAL LOOKING..you captured the iconic Dwarven attitude (problem). I LOVE the way the chain mail turned out. Dwarves are second only to Goblins on my coolest-of-the cool list.

| Greetings Fellow Travelers of the Old World! Having shared with the TBMF community my Skaven Standard Bearer, allow me to show some more skaven miniatures in my collection who, while not strictly Standard Bearers are nonetheless interesting on account of the details I have tried to put into them. The Plague Monks of Clan Pestilens are regarded as zealots dedicated to the spread of corruption, disease and decay in the name of the Great Horned One.The Skaven Army Book provided for Skaven Deacons and Bringers-of-the-Word as unit champions for a regiment of Plague Monks and I wanted to represent these deranged abominations. To begin with, GW provided several amazing bits in their Skaven Plague Monks sprue which allowed the modeller to customize his army/warband in accordance with the lore of the Verminous Horde and their fluff as well as the game rules. So, here are my Deacons/Bringers-of-the-Word: DeaconI wanted my deacon to appear as a frenzied devotee of Clan Pestilens who is so convinced of the superiority of his dogma that he is portrayed brandishing his authority. I therefore felt it fitting to place my deacon on an elevated position so as to make a visual allusion to a modern-day preacher standing behind a pulpit. Bringer-of-the-Word 1 This model is carrying the dreaded Liber Bubonicus or the Book of Woe which chronicles the history of clan pestilens (from their emergence from the jungels of lustria, hence the drawing of a Lystrian pyramid on the left page to their corruption and transformation, hence the drawing of a skaven transforming into a skaven plague monk on the opposit page)and records all their rituals and their manufactured diseases. Bringer-of-the-Word 2 This model is carrying the Skaven's version of the famed Liber Mortis or the Book of the Dead hence the anatomical drawings of a hand, an eyeball and God knows what else is drawn on that forbidden book! Bringer-of-the-Word 3This model is carrying their copy of the Skaven ARMY BOOK! Need I say more? check out page 54 and 55 of the new army book... I hopy you like it! | |

| Greetings Fellow Travelers of the Old World! Let me share another miniature: Meet my Ungor Standard Bearer! Like thier larger kin, Ungors are also "artistically challenged" especially when it comes to their standards. Usually, their bannners are limited to crude sketches of thier unholy symbols scribbled on any available material ranging from rags to animal and even human skin but every now and then, these beasts of chaos are able to get their hands on enemy standards which they "corrupt" and appropriate for their own. in the picture shown above, the standard obviously used to belong to a unit from Middenheim, the City of the White Wolf. Here is the same Ungor model in a more natural background... I hope you guys like it! | |

| For the past several days, I have been working on a new Standard Bearer for my old plastic Empire Spearmen unit. This task was not easy on account of the fact that the old standards were rather huge and it got in the way of the units's spears when I tried to rank them. So, I decided to raise my Standard Bearer and put him on an elevated position but I need to do so in a way that would still seem logical. Hence, this is what I came out with... The raised platform which looks like a ruined wall now served two functions, namely: it elevated my stalwart standard bearer... ...and it became a logical and cohesive focal point for the whole unit. I also love the way it ties up with my home-made movement tray. Notice also the unit's mascot? the dog was taken from the Bretonnian Men-at-arms sprue. Naturally, the Banner is hand-painted and is done in the colors of Talabheim. Here is a close-up of the Standard... ... and the bloodied face of this veteran! The following are diverse shots of the same mini... The reverse side shows the old Standard which depicts the symbol for the walls ofTalabheim. Some facts regarding the Miniature: I love buying old models and I either restore them or I use them as bits for future projects. This particular model is an example. This model is a frankenstein of sorts and is made up of various parts taken from old models which I bought from someone. These models were badly painted and despite repeated efforts to remove the thick paint, in the end, I just had mix them all up and to paint over these which resulted in the rough texture of some parts of the model. The model is made up of parts taken from: 1. A crew member of the Plastic Empire Cannon; 2. A 5th ed empire standard Bearer and Banner; 3. A Bretonnian Dog. The hirst blocks which were used as platform were glued to two (2) pieces of GW human-sized 20mm plastic bases which were glued together themselves to provide a stable counter-weight to the miniature. I hope you like it! | |

| Greetings Fellow Travelers of the Old World! Last night, I finished the Standard Bearer for my Empire Knights. At present, I have around 90 of these plastic knights and I wanted to paint them all in the colors of the Reiksguard. My concern however was that the over-all color scheme of the Reiksguard tends to be too uniform and monotonous and there really is not much room for variations to generate points of interest (unless I really want to go crazy and paint etched designs on the bardings of 90 empire steeds!) so I decided to make my units distinct by giving them unique banners rather than the typical GW-designed banners. This is what I came out with: I decided to go with the "Death's Head" theme to inidcate that these particular Reiksguard knights are the Empire's Death Dealers! Here's a more complete picture of the 2 knights I have done so far... A view from the reverse side... Finally, I still continued with the painted "cobblestone" look for my base to tie this unit in with the rest of my Empire army... Believe me, it is not easy painting these "cobblestones" on a cavalry-sized base! | |

| Greetings Fellow Travelers of the Old World! For some time already, I have been working double time to finish painting my Empire Army and I have shared my work with the community periodically. I now would like to focus on some characters which, quitre frankly are the inevitable points of interest in any army. Meet my Talabheim general, HANS FEUERBACH: Hans Feuerbach is the bastard son of Helmut Feuerbach, the missing Elector Count of Talabecland. He is also the older brother to Friedrich, the legal son of Helmut. Hans voluntarily exiled himself from Talabecland in order to avoid the persecution of the wife of Helmut, who sought to kill him because under the laws of Talabecland, it is the oldest son who is crowned Elector Count. Hans therefore sought refuge in Talabheim where the present Countess is his Godmother.Under the Empire Army Book, an Empire general may also ride a Barded warhorse... ...or a Griffon! This is my latest project. Anyone who has seen the EMPIRE GENERAL ON GRIFFON would probably agree with me that the sculpt is not that impressive especially with regards to the general. Insofar as the Griffon is concerned, while the wingspan may be impressive, the over-all appearance is not as intimidating as it should be (Its a freaking GRIFFON for crying out loud!). So, I decided to make an impressive base for my Empire General on Griffon which would prove to be a fittiing centerpiece for my Talabheim army and this is what I came up with... The model and its base is approximately 6 inches tall! A daunting and intimidating view from ground/troop level... Notice that the base was made from Hirst blocks and is made to look like a ruined tower. Notice also the flag showing the colors of talabehim? I decided to keep the Banner simple so as not to steal or divert attention from the principal focal point of the whole piece... ...THESE TWO! To be consistent with my characters, I decided to use the Empire General Head with the feathered cap to represent Hans as a standing general, a mounted general and a general with griffon. I hope you guys like him. Next project, Hans on a Pegasus! | |
