Dwarf Treasure Hunters

Few years ago, when I decided to collect a DTH warband I couldn't make up my mind whether to choose old classic metal miniatures (the non-conversion option) or the plastic ones (a lot of conversions). Eventually I decided to get them both .

The full metal DTH warband was finished quickly thanks for my wife's help.

The plastic one had to wait for quite a long time for being assembled and converted, but they're finally completed, undercoated and they only wait for being painted . There are 25 miniatures in total: 21 plastic and 4 metal, 23 dwarfs and 2 halflings. I planned to get even more dwarfs and some of my ideas for conversions remain unused by now (e.g. dwarf themed hired swords), but they are likely to appear sooner or later in my WHFB dwarf army or as reinforcements for this warband.

Today I present you an update for my new Dwarf Treasure Hunters warband. In my recent post I've mentioned the idea of dwarf-themed hired swords. I managed to assemble one of them before me and Skavenblight started painting the warband.

It's an infamous and vicious Ogre Bodyguard or - better to say - Ogre Dwarfguard. He and his trusty gnoblar have been working for dwarfs for many years, in exchange for ale, food and gold (not necessarily in that order ) and have adapted some of the bearded folk's customs, not to mention their appearance before travelling all way long off the World's Edge Mountains down to the City of the Damned.

Regarding the miniature... As you can see in the picture below it's a bearded ogre bull wearing a dwarvish-styled horned helmet. He wears a dwarf emblem on his gut plate and has even got several ancestor-head shaped lucky charms along with other useful equipment attached to his belt. He hasn't, however, abandoned his trusty weapons in favour for more dwarvish ones and still hasn't devoured his loyal gnoblar (apparently having better choice of food provided by his employers). They both have just caught and disarmed a poor goblin whose decapitation is the matter of seconds!
