| Hi Von Kurst/Playtable,
I've been meaning to ask what rules you use for the small, portable cannon that one of the Wasted was using. They sound like a blast (pun intended)!

| Hey RL, Its just a swivel gun from the pirate rules. I call it a small cannon because of the bore on the gun that Playtable converted. (Also it tends to roll 6's for misfires, arrgh!)
There are, I hear, rules for falconets in WAB Age of Chivalry. Anyone with access to them who would PM them to me would be held in high esteem.

The cannon looks good from the photos. Oh and on that note the photos of your gaming table are always amazing and add a lot to the battle reports. I'll have to try to get a camera to our games even though we don't exactly have terrain as it still helps explain the situation better than simple text. I look forward to more installments!

| “Guard Me Well” By Von Kurst The Sartosans were trapped in an agreement to guard a local merchant on the run. The Marauders and the Fallen were after his head. The brazen daylight raid took place in the Thieves Quarter. The Sartosans barricaded themselves in an ancient Nehekaran bathhouse.</A>
Their enemies battled their way inside and cut on the Sartosans until the pirates abandoned the merchant.
</A>
</A>
The Marauders and the undead then fought each other until the Marauders withdrew.</A>
Post Game. The Sartosans lost the Elf Ranger and the Swivel Gunner and maybe a couple of other henchmen. The Marauders lose the Wolfen. The Fallen become even richer although the newest Orc zombie is destroyed. A shambling zombie werewolf replaces him.
And another perspective...
From the Undead:
The Sartosans were locked in a central building trying to protect a merchant. The norsemen marauders and the undead had them surrounded. The dead and Norsemen advanced to the building on turn 1. A pirate shot could merely knock down a zombie. On turn 2 the carnage began. The norsemen advance again to the building and prepared to charge. The necromancer had used the Call of Vanhel to move Dragga the orc Zombie into position. He entered and fired a blunderbuss into 3 humans, stunning one. The dark elf shot down the elf ranger, killing him with dark venom bolts. Zombie charged a human. Dragga was then shot down and laid to rest by someone with a pistol. The vampire and Minotauro entered the other side of the building. Markos the vampire stuns his oppenent-the humans regret not being able to shoot him, and the swivel gun was reloading from a previous miss. Norsemen enter and engage some the pirates on the far side. Dark elf climbs the side of the building. Renfield and a zombie pushed forward by the necromancer engage 2 norsemen on the right flank, taking on OOA after a throw by a javelin can only knock down a zombie. Hand fighting continues, the orc shaman zombie takes out a pirate. Fester the ghast jumps off the roof and down into combat, taking out a pirate. Markos fights off the norsemen backed up by Minatauro. He impales a hero that is immune to fear, knocking him back into another norseman, but the hero fights on. The pirates run. Dark elf shoots down the wolfen hero, who perishes after the battle. The former theogenist turned necromancer raises him to fufill his destiny with the undead. Markos finishes off the brave hero, Minotauro another Norseman. They flee as well. 5 of the pirate warband perish. Wolfen hero becomes a zombie. Not sure if other norsemen die. Dragga the orc zombie fires the first blunderbuss ever for the undead, then is crushed by infernal black powder. Many advanced were made, as pirates had a high rating. Markos gets stronger. S7 now in hand to hand. Necromancer gets lifestealer. Dark elf gets 2 wounds.

| Meanwhile Off in the Desert... Mondayheim.
The stars were not good for Sundayheim so it got pushed back one day and moved to Playtable's garage. It will probably suffer a similar fate next week. Playtable's Dark Elf warband had missed a few weeks so I thought I would be somewhat nice and leave the 300+ hoard of the Bliddy Red Banna Boyz to home. I arrived with some Tileans that haven't seen action since midway through the last Lustrian adventure.
The Dark Elf's had last fought in the city of Al-Haikk a couple of weeks ago, so we moved them to the desert to take advantage of their clues...
"The Hermit" The Dark Elf's sought a mysterious hermit who lived in a cave near the Oasis of 1001 Camels. Clue #30) Rumor—The bazaars are buzzing with rumors about the Seer of the Djinni’s Gate. He is said to know more than he should of Toth Amon and his lost tomb. For your next battle in the Oasis of 1001 Camels you may automatically pick the scenario The Hermit. If the hermit joins your warband and survives he will add +2 to any searches for a clue after the game. If the hermit is taken OOA by your warband, you have captured him and may force his knowledge as above. (Note a warband may not attack a hermit that would join them.) When the elves arrived on a bright, clear night, the cave was being guarded by 2 Turjuk riders. One spied the elves the other rode his steed toward a lone Estalian pikeman. Both Turjuk came to grief, although one steed led elves and men on a merry chase through the desert before it escaped. 2 elves entered the hermit's cave. One blundered into an arrow trap, the other found himself facing the hermit. The hermit easily defended himself and held the elves up until the Estalians rushed into the cave to mop them up. Outside the desert plains rang with curses and frightened whinnies as the guard's steed foiled all attempts to capture it. In the process the elf beastmaster was shot by Estalian crossbowmen and died. Post Game The Dark Elves flee. The hermit is grateful to the Estalians (whom he grants and holy relic) but despite the rumors actually has no knowledge of Toth Amon and his treasures. Timkyree, the bestmaster/leader died. Nizer, the shade died as well. The Dark Elves replace the shade at the dread Unscrupulous Merchant.
"The Vault" Clue #32)Artifact—The hero finds an ancient map. It shows the location of the treasure hoard of a band of thieves active during the reign of the Priest Kings. For your next battle in the Ruins of Bel Alaid you may automatically pick the scenario The Vault. If your warband wins you may add +4 to any searches for a clue after the game.
The Dark Elves faithfully followed their map to the Ruins. Naturally the Estalians followed as well, Once again the elves thought to lose the humans in the darkness, once again it almost worked. However the map failed to mention the ancient guardian that wards the treasure. Nizer II died to the horror's pincers. Another elf was badly injured. The Estalians withdrew without the treasure rather than face the guardian. Post Game Nizer II was dead. Enough gold was found (by selling some unfortunate pilgrims) to recruit another shade from the Unscrupulous Merchant. The Estalians withdrew to Al-Haikk to resupply. They encountered similar pilgrims (a feast-day of the local saint in Al-Haikk) but gained information instead of attacking them.
"The Dark Ritual" Footsore and miserable the Dark Elves elected to remain in the area of Bel Alaid. The jaunty Estalians returned to the area to further victimize them. Both warbands were drawn by the sound of distant chanting and the ominous rolling of thunder to a desolate area of the ruins. Zombies shuffled out of the darkness. The warbands found themselves under siege by animated corpses. The Estalians easily cut their way through the undead guards and confronted the crazed necromancer. The elves were contemptuously cutting down zombies when Nizer III slipped... Zombies poured through the gap left by his body and attacked the sorceress. She laughed with glee at the idea, until she fell under the press of undead. Post Game For once no elf dies. The Sorceress even fully recovers. For a change the elves find themselves visiting the Nomads at the Well. The elves decide not to tempt fate by attacking them. The Estalians collect the poor captive and return her to her relatives in Al-Haikk for a nice reward.
This chapter ends with the main protagonists returning to the Great Desert. The Undead have grown strong off the leavings of others. Will the Fallen exploit their power this week or will they be led astray? The Sartosans still have more information than all of the other warbands. If they can avoid the Fallen they might even strike deep into the wastes of Khemri to search the actual tomb of Toth Amon. Of course they may find the Cracked Moons there ahead of them...

| An here we are at week 10 for Thursdayheim. Week X—The Jackal’s Howl, A Sojourn in the Great Desert of Araby. “The Crusaders”Narration by Von Kurst with occasional commentary by Playtable.Clue #27) Rumor— Your hero discovers information about an ancient order of knights that guard a hidden shrine deep in the desert. When you reach the Pools of Despair you may automatically pick the scenario The Crusaders. If your warband wins you may add +2 to any searches for a clue after the game. The Sartosans searched the Pools of Despair for the Shrine of the Blessed Knight. The Wasted lurked on the Sartosan backtrail. When the Sartosans finally reached the area of the shrine, they approached from the west and the Wasted slouched in from the east. 2 guardian knights protected the shrine. One attacked the Sartosan pirates and the other tried to drive the Wasted off. Neither was successful.</A> The Sartosans had established a firebase on a jebel that dominated the field. The Wasted sent their cavalry to out-flank the pirate handguns, (well 2 long rifles and a handgun, really.)</A> The Wasted send a screen of snakes forward.</A> As the riders reached the base of the jebel and dismounted, a wail went up from the poor infantry that had slogged across the open desert to draw fire.</A> The lubbers ran from the field. The horsemen re-mounted and galloped off after them.</A> Post GameThe Sartosan’s looted the shrine and the bodies of the knights. “Smalls found 2 swords, heavy armor, gems and I don't know what else (other than my gunner).” [Playtable] A Wasted gunner takes the oath as one of the Sartosan crew. Rumor has it that the Sartosans then returned to Al-Haikk to see a fence and refit. Despite the advantages of winning the fight more information eludes them. (Smalls forgot to add the bonus for winning the scenario to his search rolls…)The Wasted misplace a swab in the confusion and swear revenge on the traitor who joined the rival crew. For all their trouble the Wasted find a convenient oasis complete with well-stocked caravan. They also find their first clue to the whereabouts of the Sorcerer’s Tomb. (THE WASTED HAVE A CLUE! Like, groovy man. Its, like, so old, man.)Both warbands encounter the Fanatical Mob who question them closely and bestow holy relics and pamphlets. The pirates are bemused. (And slightly disappointed they haven’t been burned at the stake, stoned or hung or something.) | |

| “Capture the Oasis”Clue #26) Artifact—The worn disc your hero finds is actually a map. When you reach the Pools of Despair you may automatically pick the scenario The Capture the Oasis. If your warband wins you may add +4 to any searches for a clue after the game. Narration by Von KurstThey are called the Pools of Despair. Sometimes the water fails, at others it is foul, unfit to drink, even for those about to perish from its lack. Many have died with in sight of the Pools and legend says their spirits linger. Djinni and ghost haunt these waters and woe to those who cross their path. “It is forbidden!” the Witch shrieked. “We must be pure! We must wait for the omens to allow us to approach the waters. Now the stars are out of line, the planets caution, death awaits at the Pools!’ Haroum was not impressed. The men muttered and rolled their eyes. They called on the One and fingered their amulets and charms. The longer they delayed here in this dusty wadhi, the more likely death would find them. He drew his scimitar. The rasp of steel drew all eyes. “Death is in my hand! Now!” he said quietly, “We advance, or I will loose Him among ye.” They moved. He left the scout in the wadhi with the horses. Someone or something moved in the dunes to the west. So the Faithful hugged the rocks and scrub. The line held for about a hundred yards and then the men began to falter, but Haroum did not stop for them. Gunshots sounded from the western dunes. No one was hit, but everyone sought cover. The closer they got to the oasis the stranger the air felt. Even with war cries, screams and gunfire hammering there were other voices, other screams. Hassam dropped his crossbow and ran into the open. ‘The Djinni of the Waters! Save me Master!” Even as he fled headlong toward the enemy guns, he was not hit. McFusson jogged toward the water, a pistol in each fist. </A> All around him manlings cowered in fear or fled headlong. Even among the Sartosan scum across the way he could see the same insanity happening. Haroum, now, that one forged ahead, damn his skinny legs! </A> He was already climbing the jebel, soon those poxy lubbers would be flanked by the Rais’ gun. McFusson smiled broadly as he rounded the foot of the jebel and leveled his pistols. </A> Post Battle Restless spirits played hell with both warbands, but a calm, clear day favored the Arabyans’ bows over the pirates’ pistols. The Arabyans are lucky and the Sartosans leader fled from a spirit. Sartosans—are chased into the desert where their +2 map fails them and they become lost. Arabyans—capture the Oasis and some of the Sartosan’s baggage. Sadly no caravan stops to trade with the victors, although they discover some previous victims of the Sartosans and heal them. | |

| Thanks DeafNala. Glad to give a fellow old man a thrill. I do admit that it is a big pain in the a.... trying to play games and remembering to take pictures of my game as well as 2 others going on at the same time. My tripod gets in the way a lot and my memory is getting worse all the time. I've gotten the camera out, played all night, and not remembered to take even one picture. I know it doesn't belong on this thread but... Just for you here is an old game picture from a few years ago. My witch Hunters. Von Kirst's pirates and ship. Da Bank's buildings. It is my favorite picture to date. Might be the pretty blue water. </A> | |

| No worries, we'll putter around as long as we can hold a tape measure.
Week XI—Back in Al-Haikk.
“Sirrah, Ye Lie!” The Arabyans encounter the Sartosans who are just back from being lost in the desert. In their haste to return to civilization the pirates have entered through the wrong gate. They enter the Arabyan quarters of the city, where they are not welcome.
Haroum and Garn McFusson were surveying the Square of Wonderful Bargains when McFusson suddenly drained his tankard and pushed into the crowd. “There’s the lubber,” he growled. Haroum took no alarm from this. The Slayer had hundred’s of feuds he remembered and several dozen more that he just seemed to invent on the spot. Still he watched idly as the parting of the crowds indicated the Slayer’s progress. As the dwarf pirate neared the center of the square Haroum heard the booming voice again. “Ahoy yon lubber in the red coat!” McFusson called, “yes ye, laddie. Me pistol misfired when last we met. Mayhap now I can finish ye wit me fists.” Haroum noted several distinct currents in the crowd. The Sartosan dandy in the red coat was backing hastily away from the enraged dwarf. From the north Haroum could see Red Roxanne moving toward Garn and Hakim pushing his way forward as well. But from across the square there were others moving toward the altercation that he did not recognize. Then a familiar voice shouted from behind him. “So Infidel, ye have returned from the desert, a shame.” Al Bobo challenged, “Have ye lost yer wit to walk here in the City of the Prophet? Armed outlaws ye be. Infidels! Defilers of the Sacred! Have at them!” Haroum decided that this outing might not go as planned. As he shouldered his way toward Al Bobo’s voice, Haroum began to undo the ties on the rolled carpet he carried. Post Game The Sartosans run as soon as they can. Just one turn before the lax guardsmen can arrive to arrest them (and several turns before the guards summoned to breakup the brawl.) Of the casualties only one is captured by the Smugglers of Araby. He gratefully joins the crew. Haroum also recruits a number of Janissaries to restore the crew to full strength. Bin Sadaka suffers from Madness after being beaten senseless by a winsome Sartosan cabin girl. He now suffers from frenzy. Al Bobo was knifed by the same girl but recovered from the wound if not the shame. (The Sartosans routed before the chit could conquer more Arabyan ‘heroes’.) The Sartosans also recruit replacements.
“Guard Me Well” Hounded from the Arabyan Quarter the Sartosans sought more danger by entering the Merchants Quarter. There yet another unscrupulous fool contracted them as bodyguards despite their woeful performance in that capacity. In this instance it was the Wasted who were charged with collecting the bounty on the merchant’s head. “Like, dude, you have seriously pissed Herr Gusterman off, man.” Being Wasted their efficiency wasn’t the best. The opening volley startled the evening crowds who trampled right over the Wasted attackers. The Snake Charmer lost control of his snakes, but luckily they only attacked each other. A rare rainstorm washed over and dampened the Wasted’s powder as well. Covered in mud and blood and tears the Wasted struggled to cross the narrow streets that separated them form their prey. They fought their way into the crowded building but the stubborn Sartosans refused to flee. Nor could the Wasted quite reach the cowering merchant. Disgusted, Captain Higgins gave it up as a bad job. Post Game The Sartosans are well rewarded with an elven cloak, ithilmar armor and gold. They press 2 of the Wasted into their service as crew. The one Sartosan that is captured by the Wasted refuses to join the crew and becomes a swab. 2 Sartosans are killed. The Wasted receive no reward for their failure. In addition to the 2 deserters one snake dies.
“Knives in the Dark” Against his better judgment Haroum took rooms with Assad the Fat, a landlord in the Thieves Quarter. You get what you pay for. In this case it was a short rest on filthy mattresses, followed by red murder and terror filled flight. The Fallen attacked the inn in the small hours of a moonless night. McFusson was felled by foul sorcery as he tried to hold the side door. Rashid the Turjuk was killed as he slept in the kitchens by the back door. The screams of the victims and the roars of the undead attackers unmanned the Arabyans and they fled. Post Game The Fallen—fail to find a clue but do discover a Magic Carpet on sale in the bazaar. The Smugglers recover from their wounds (except for Rashid). Naturally bin Sadaka is less adept at finding carpets than a vampire. Some Nomad Robes are procured to protect the Rais in the desert.
“Skirmish” The Marauders met Clan Pestilens in a mostly destroyed part of the Thieves Quarter. The day was Hot As Hades and members of both warbands were confused by the mirages conjured by the heat. To add to the misfortunes of the skaven they had drawn the eye of the Old Man of the Mountain as well. One of his assassins attacked the skaven band before the first Norseman even thought of it. Once the assassin had been dealt with the Norse piled into the disrupted rats. Unfortunately for the northmen, the Skaven recovered their wits and ripped into the men with uncharacteristic ferocity. The Norse stubbornly refused to run and the streets ran red. Eventually the Norse Jarl fell and the remaining men (and wolves) lost heart. Post Game. The Skaven are able to record yet another week of not losing a hero. Legends grow of a fell censor bearer who destroys all before him. These are obviously propaganda, or the result of playing fewer games. The Norse suffer no deaths among their heroes either, although the Jarl loses an eye.

| "Skirmish" Skaven and Marauders line up to duke it out. Looks bad for the skaven. But a diving charge from the rear (of the horse) takes out the leader. The tide turns and the Marauders flee. | |

| Sundayheim in June.
What with the release of Warhammer 8th edition and summer vacation/holidays the interest in a little Mordheim on a weekend has paled in the last couple of weeks.
"The Caravan" A desert skirmish somewhere near the Oasis of 1001 Camels. Capitain de Guzman checked the flint on his pistols. In the darkness toward the head of the pass he could hear men cursing and camels bawling. There was even some fool singing a lullaby out there somewhere. De Guzman felt a sense of personal responsibility here. The leader of these brigands was a countryman, an Estallian. De Guzman would wipe clean the stain on his country's honor this night or know the reason why! The reason in the main was the moonless night. The ambushers and the caravan blundered into each other in the dark. The advantage was with the pirate's goblin allies, who spotted the attackers long before the human pirates even knew something was amiss. De Guzman's men quickly silenced the goblins, but the pirates were able to escape into the darkness. The stolen camels scattered into the desert, leaving the Sigmarite patrol to collect the bounty on the few pirates they were able to kill or capture. Post Game Both warbands withdrew towards Al-Haikk, where they would meet again.
"The Long Pier" A desperate struggle on a moonlit pier in Al-Haikk. De Guzman had the men search the city diligently. It was his thought that the pirates would return to the warren of the Thieves Quarter where they belonged. De Guzman was surprised to learn that the villains instead had returned to the Merchant's Quarter. With grim determination the Sigmarites gathered down by the docks. Sigmar favored them with another clear night although once again the moons lent little illumination. The Sigmarite crusaders moved forward as quickly as they could on the slick stone quays of the old harbor. No one fell into the bay, but it was a near thing. They knew they had neared their quarry when once again goblin arrows were fired from the darkness. No one took a serious wound and the gallant men of Estallia were able to close with the blackhearted pirates. The pirate captain fought a grim, deadly duel with 3 of the Sigmarite crusaders. He was forced to withdraw as his henchmen were slaughtered around him. Post Game 3 pirates including the goblin known as Noob were killed. One of the Estallian heroes suffers a Chest Wound. Despite their losses the pirates steal a crate containing pistols. The crusaders have similar luck and gain a Pocket Pistol for every hero. No crusaders were killed in the skirmish.
