PostSubject: Ezekiel Celes' Mordheim   Tue 29 Jul 2008 - 3:35

Allright, seeing as I promised this as soon as I joined the forum, but still haven't, Here it is. My Mordheim table (still loads of WIP, but I'll keep you updated)
A lot of the pictures are older, but I just don't have that many.

I build on segments of 30 x 30 cm, mostly in foamboard and wood. And my city isn't as ruined as most other Mordheim boards, as I also like to play little battles or RolePlays in colonized towns in Lustria and Cathay with friends, and there the town needs to be functioning to a slightly more healthy way than in Mordheim.

this is how narrow most of my alleyways are (about 3 to 6 cm wide)

even though still unfiished, I love the feeling this tower radiates... to me, this is what mordheim is all about. ( it's becoming a bit more eerie, as it is the local hall of justice - meaning, zombies in cages, gallows, torture devices, and a stronghold for my witch hunters!)

I don't just use it for mordheim, it's usable with my fantasy boards as well, and just adds atmosphere and purpose to those battles.

A nice rooftop view, perfect for scaling ninjas and surprise attacks!

A road level view of the eerie streets.

Ah yes, all the buildings come in parts and pieces, to keep them fully playable.

A little square I really love, due to it's atmosphere and colours. - the doors, and shutters are all fully functional for more different playable parts.

Seeing as I live in Amsterdam, I just needed to include water - in this case Canals, but they can be changed to form a harbour/waterfront.

and a final topshot (there is more, but there aren't any pictures)

Currently, I'm working on some more tunnels, some bigger roads to fit in mounts, monsters, and chariots (We're starting of with chariotraces soon) and a big warehouse (to fit in with my waterside/harbour Idea.

Wow, Thanks for all the comments! - Hey Unwanted, it seems I can't escape you! NOEEEEES! Razz

Cianty,
One can never have enough funny mushrooms... even in Amsterdam... seriously, ever since I played Morrowind I was completely in love with giant mushrooms, and I figured the surroundings of a warped city were the perfect location to come up with them... although now I use them in all of my battles! hehe... farewell cliché trees! hello funny mushrooms!

Tagnator,
Very easy, first you cover the board in sand, paint it up to look like mud, then you flock spots with grass, just to the right level for your setting, et voila! not that hard at all... just make sure you let the sand dry before you paint it, otherwise it comes off again...

and NOW, Updates! yeuuyyyy

The Warehouse I've been working on this week is slowly growing, and it's gonna be a big one! 4 stories, and some loose towers and additions, but most of all, it's gonna have an impressive front, to show off the riches made by the wealthy merchants. I'm thinking of dubbing it something of the twin merchants/dragons or something (basically 2 adjacent buildings and I found 2 Lizardmen banners)

for some reason I can't help but feel like playing Prince of Persia again! Smile

COOL! thumbsup
That's a really nice, big building with a LOT of gaming possibilities. I'm not 100% sure where you are going with this one; it will be fun to follow the progess & see how it turns out. WELL DONE! cheers

Addendum: It seems that the Netherlands boasts a FINE & ABUNDANT group of of excellent painters/modelers who are addicted to Mordheim. I'm jealous Suspect !

Well, the warehouse/storagebuilding is progressing nicely:

but I fear I may have made a mistake in making it so big, as it is really hard to fill it! Razz

these crates and boxes are about 4 hours work, and only fill up 1/6th of the building, and then I need to paint them all as well! crap!
It does make for nice playable mazes though Razz

Then, As I have too much inspiration going on, I have some sketches of what's to come (most likely)

and one heavily inspired on the Catayan Scenery found around here... Though I think it's a bit too big, I like the feel to it, and might construct something a bit like this one of these days...

Allright... now off to work again... (the obligatory money making work that is - sadly Razz)

Wow! I now have a much better grasp of what the warehouse might look like later. It sure is freaking huge! Very impressive!

The sketches are very cool, too. And yes, that Cathayan Mushroom Tower looks insanely huge! I hope you'll find the time to finish the warehouse.

Those are very cool projects Ez!

It's imperssive to see such a well organised sketchbook. Thanks for sharing that!

Warehouse is kick-ass of course! Will be a lot of drybrushing wood there.
Oh and the Mushroom tower? PLEASE BUILD THAT ONE! Dad

@ Cianty: There are giant mushrooms in Cathay?!

YES there are giant mushrooms in Cathay... > or at least I like to think so! Then again, I like mushrooms in any location, be it Cathay, Mordheim, Lustria, or my own backyard, hehe, Giant, Magic, Mushrooms... which grant you more than just visions.... (plus they emit light in the dark... the ghastly kind of light, that makes you utterly paranoid and jumpy)

About the wood, I was thinking about "painting it" probably red or blueish... so that saves me quite some bit of drybrushing! Though the crates will level that back up... maybe I should recruit myself some kids for the good old child laybor.
