Im glad you ask!

I used catachan green for the first layer, and simply added more and more white to it pretty simple!

White as in cutting the catac green w/ white or have a very watered down white?

I mixed in white with catachan green and then added water for thinner paint

On the "too bright for an Orc" thingy [no offense intended lord siwoc]. I think the bright metallics look GREAT. The brightness of the gold MIGHT be appealing to the Orcish mind...such as it is, AND, as a race DEVOTED to war, I can't see them letting their weapons & armor getting all rusted...it's like a carpenter leaving his tools out in the rain.
It's NOT a good idea to limit your vision of your minis to the limited imagination of GW designers or anyone else for that matter. What YOU create should look good to YOU...other opinions, including mine, ARE secondary considerations.

It is your miniature, it is your game. It is meant to be fun.

Time for some new projects. Here are some of the bases for my squigs. I hope there are room enough on them to fit the squigs

One squig will be jumping over the wheelbarrow, another walking beside the signpost(if room enough) and a third will be *insert motional verb* on the dead warrior.

Also, i made a new goblin (courtesy of Deafnala!) from a gnoblar

VERY PROMISING LOOKING STUFF!
I LOVE air-borne Squigs; they look GREAT pinned to things they're hopping over.
The Goblin is VERY COOL; qc had a TERRIFIC idea on this one. Keep'em comming!

First of all I got to say that I admire your converting skills. There's so many good ideas in your head and you're really nifty with the sculpting tool. Overall I think you have a great theme going on with your orc warband. Seeing your converted Snikrot has given a lot of ideas to me how to complete mine, so thank you for that. As a slight critique: The severed head on your Snikrot's backpack is a bit smudgy, but other than that it's great. I also love the shade of green you paint your orcs. I've also experimented more brown-ish shades of green on my minis.

Keep up the good work!

Oh yeah, there's a slight brown spot on your Snikrot's skin on his right arm.
