| The Rise of the Liche Lord--Week ThreePlayers and WarbandsChris R--Mauraders of Chaos (BtB) Chris S--Loth Loren Seaguard (Sartosa) Jake B--Lahmian Vampires (Khemri) Jake L--Skaven Jim L--Dark Elves (Lustria) Jim S--Witch Hunters John--Undead Matt--Undead Zach--Clan Pestilens (TC#29) This week the Dark Elves attempted to gain specific insight into the threat looming over the ruins. Naturally the Skaven interfered... The HuntedA Dark Elf Shade and a Verminkin had gained valuable information about the Liche Lord. Unfortunately they were pursued... - Jim L wrote:
Jake's assassin adept took my straggler (the Shade who died) out top of 1st turn. The Minions stalk the verminkin (center).
Dark Elves far away...
Skaven lurking
Skaven dying
Later I took ooa & killed his Sorcerer (center, the fight with a dog thing).
Skaven shot & killed a minion dog and that was the only shooting ooa all game.
I lost a Shade with 2 daggers and one exp.
Liche Lord minions win. We both failed our 1st rout test.
The Skaven lost their Sorcerer and a Verminkin. The Sorcerer was replaced by an exact replica who also had the same spell... The Liche Lord has only one minion (out of four) remaining when both warbands failed their rout tests and fled. More battles to follow...

| Failing your first rout-test when you are so close to winning is always a bugger... Tell your Skaven-friend he is never going to win anything until he paints up his minis. That's scientifically proven | |

| Thanks for the comments gents! There are many things in Mordheim that I try not to think too much about... ___________________________________________________________________________________ An AmbushThe Red Duke and his minions join the Sea Patrol in ambushing harmless Witch Hunters Minions of the Red Duke sneak up on Wytch Fynder Gottlieb (seen through the door) The Sea Patrol being shot down one at a time by Ranger Anna Gorn Per Liebergott leads the men to safety. Anna is down. The Red Duke is up. The Forlorn hope. Brudder Gotistmituns smashes backstabbing elfs on the stair. The Sea Patrol had enough once the Itsy Bitsy Spider showed up in their flank. The elfs fled. Then the Hunters got all of their remaining wyrdstone off the board and failed a rout test! Curses! We had the Red Duke all trussed and ready for roasting only to fail our resolve. The Sea Patrol report no deaths, but when have they? They do report another returned favor... The Hunters lost two hounds killed. Wytch Fynder Gottlieb suffers a Hand injury. Brudder Sigmaruberalles hates the Red Duke. Wytch Fynder Liebergott fell down a well and will miss a game... The Hunters become momentarily wealthy, but fail miserably to find any rare items. Any. - Harganok aka John D wrote:
- I ended up with 2 shards of wyrdstone from the battle. I had a zombie and the Red Duke (vampire) go out of action. The zombie lived and the vampire rolled boxcars on the injury table to survive against the odds and get an extra xp (take that, bounty hunter!) Also got the underdog bonus so pretty much everyone gained a level or two. MVP goes to the wolves who couldn't seem to have a bad roll all night and kept taking out flagellants. Ended up with 7 wyrdstone after exploration and a free hired sword from 'Returning a favor'.
Even more to come...nine players six games in three hours.

| Too true. Oh well should be better than the Shadow things... _________________________________________________________________________________ A Wyrdstone HuntThe Plague Monks chose to look for Wyrdstone versus the Lahmians. They found a vampire. It looks like the vampire has da wyrdstone... Skaven lurking with skeletons marching. The other stone (there were only two) is in that central tower. A rat-mugging in an alley. The plague monks broke. The Lahmians get one wyrdstone for sure. _________________________________________________________________________________ Surprise! Surprise! Its Undead versus Marauders Matt started over and attacked the warband that his undead forced to start over on week one. That's all I know. Lots of fighting by the graveyard. | |

| Thanks Al. _________________________________________________________________________________ A Treasure HuntThe Lahmians fight with Marauders during treasure hunt. There was more fighting than hunting but what you gonna do? There are way more undead than Marauders The Marauders fled with many heroes out of action, but the chieftain did not turn into a chaos spawn. - Jalke B wrote:

_________________________________________________________________________________ A Skirmish The Undead (Matt's) versus the Plague Monks
Zach was less than thrilled to meet more Undead. The monks got no frenzy yet...
The game ended in a draw by store closing.

Thank you for the compliment, I will pass it on. _________________________________________________________________________________ The Rise of the Liche Lord--Week FourPlayers and WarbandsChris R--Mauraders of Chaos (BtB) Chris S--Loth Loren Seaguard (Sartosa) Jake L--Skaven Jim L (aka playtable)--Dark Elves (Lustria) Jim S (aka Von Kurst)--Witch Hunters John D (aka Hargonok)--Undead John K (aka Myth)--Lizardmen (Lustria) Matt--Undead Zach--Clan Pestilens (TC#29) Pesky PortalsThe Witch Hunters versus Marauders The equivalent scenario in the Thaw of the Liche Lord is called The House at Longreach. That scenario sounded a lot like Pesky Portals to me. So... The Witch Hunter captain supported only by a hound approaches a portal. There was a flagellant with them, but he stepped through the portal. A pack of the dread silver chaos hounds was closer than I thought... Portal peskiness. Its hard to keep together. The Marauders gave it up with a couple of heroes down and the treasure chamber finally found by Witch Hunters. A couple of chaos hounds died. The Witch Hunters secured several nasty artifacts that will not be helping the Liche Lord any more. Sadly another hound and the new flagellant died. Wytch Fynder Amadeus suffers a Deep Wound (but only misses one battle). An Ogre Bodyguard returns a favor. It was a particularly bloody night in old Mordheim, more anon...

| Hey, we got to burn a Damned Book _________________________________________________________________________________ The Wizard's MansionThe Dark Elves are forced from their find by Sea Patrol and Lizards - John K wrote:
- The Star Priests have answered. The Warpstone in the City of Death must be reclaimed so the younger races cannot misuse it in the name of Chaos. Their cleverest Skink Priest, Huinzi, has assembled his brothers and made their way into the city.
Dark Elves in the ruined tower... Sea Patrol. Surrounded. All over the Cold One Hound thing. No deaths are reported from this battle. The elfs fled, led by the Dark elfs who had at least five models out of action. The Lizards gain little for their trouble. (Or so they say...) _________________________________________________________________________________ The Death of RatsUndead versus Skaven I don't remember what scenario they were playing, but the Undead slaughtered the Skaven (which is usually what happens in this campaign cycle.) Gray Skaven advance. The Red Duke and his minions. The death of another Skaven Sorcerer. This one crushed by an ogre. One Skaven Eshin warband disappears from the city after its Assassin Adept and Sorcerer are killed and raised as zombies in the service of the Red Duke. The Undead may have lost another wolf. Or maybe that was last week.

| I do wish the old forums for the Lizards were still up so I could steal a couple of their emogie thingys. All I can say is kids nowadays, whatcha gonna do? _________________________________________________________________________________ SkirmishesThe first couple of games lasted around an hour and a half, which cut into the amount of time available for a second game (something I hadn't been able experience in this campaign yet). So we fought a series of skirmishes after discussing whether we had time for another game (which usually results in no time for another game...) The Dark Elves fought the Marauders This may be an imaged of the last moments of the Condemned...its hard to tell. The Marauders Condemned hero (a poor choice of name for someone you hope will become powerful) was killed. _________________________________________________________________________________ Lizards versus Another Brand New Skaven Warband Here the Lizards close in on the White Warlock and Sorcerer Number Three. The Skaven will flee soon. Sorcerer Number Three now hates Huinzi, the Skink Priest... _________________________________________________________________________________ Sea Patrol, Witch Hunters versus The Blue Count. The Sea Patrol got caught between Undead and Witch Hunters. The Patrol chose to attack the Witch Hunters (or perhaps it was an offer of alliance, elfs are hard to understand). Either way the elfs were quickly crushed. One gains horrible scars. None seemed to die. Then the Witch Hunters foolishly slammed right into the Undead. Should have regrouped or something. The large hole between all these models used to be occupied by a ghoul and my ogre body guard... The Undead took Witch Fynder Gotlieb and Bruder SigmaristGott right down, along with various hounds and hangers on. The Witch Hunters fled. Wytch Fynder Gotlieb lost a Pit Fight (he also lost his Monkey's Paw...shame). Bruder SigmaristGott made a full recovery. A hound dies. The Blue Count lost another Dreg...to a hound. Good job Bunny! | |

| Thanks Al. Bunny is the best. I just noticed the horse shoe logo on Vogel's barn. The local American football team is the Indianapolis Colts... _________________________________________________________________________________ The Rise of the Liche Lord--Week FivePlayers and WarbandsChris R--Mauraders of Chaos (BtB) Chris S--Loth Loren Seaguard (Sartosa) Jake L--Skaven Jim L (aka playtable)--Dark Elves (Lustria) Jim S (aka Von Kurst)--Witch Hunters John K (aka Myth)--Lizardmen (Lustria) Matt--Undead We were much depleted this week. I blame the coming Easter holiday. This week started with all Special Scenarios. My favorite was The Haunted Shore A nautical scenario based on The Frozen Shore from the Thaw of the Liche Lord Campaign. Adapted by myself from the Lustrian scenario Island Hopping (which is itself an adaptation of Occupy set on a river...) The Dark Elves and the Witch Hunters struggle for control of wrecks on the River Stir... There were four objective wrecks in the river. The Dark elves had three of them pretty quickly... Bunny the Wonder Dog awakened an ancient evil on the first wreck the Witch Hunters boarded... The Hunters' Ogre was possessed... The Ogre killed the nearest flagellant, then collapsed out of action as the daemon released the hulking brute. Things didn't look good. But the Dark Elves were weedy gits once they made a stand on the central wreck. They flee with a couple of heroes out of action. One dies. The survivors gain underdog bonus grudgingly... The Witch Hunters lost another newly recruited flagellant. They also found a desecrated graveyard that they lovingly restored for +1 experience (out of a possible D6 experience...) The Ogre and the Bounty Hunter recovered from their injuries. _________________________________________________________________________________ Peskier PortalsThe Blue Count and his Minions battle the New Skaven There were only three portals on the battlefield, none led to the treasure chamber. Below zombies threaten the New Skaven's White Warlock and a hero. The Warlock casts Fireball! More zombies defend the Painted Portal. The Undead despaired of finding the treasure chamber and fled after another dreg was killed. More battles coming soon to a Boring Forum near you... | |

| Thanks for the kind comments gents. _________________________________________________________________________________ Dark RitualLizardmen, Elfs and Chaos Marauders battle zombies and a necromancer. Its dark in the world of the game. Elfs snipe at gray things. A zombie ambushes something gray. The gray warbands battle amid the graves. The elfs got this close. The Lizards overrun the graveyard. Zombies can't keep them out. The elf shooters had the usual field day. The Marauders broke first from elf shooting and Lizards fighting. The Seer dies. Another chaos hound dies as well. The Chieftain does not become a chaos spawn. The elfs shot at the Lizards until the victim got off the table. Half of the Lizardman warband was out of action, but nothing died. A skink loses a pit fight (and an eye). | |

| A Wyrdstone HuntThe Dark Elves take on the Blue Count Something gray grabs wyrdstone. (not sure who that belongs to.) Elfs grab wyrdstone. Waves of zombies overwhelm the elfs. Occupy the WrecksThe skaven versus the Witch Hunters in an Occupy but with wrecks. (The same setup as the first game but without many of the special rules because it was late.) Opening moves Bunny the Wonder Dog takes a wreck. (Bunny had a great game.) Slingstone blues The White Warlock's last hurrah. The end is near. Fewer skaven. The White Warlock is no more. The ogre forces the Black (gray) skaven back. Bunny occupied a wreck; fought the skaven to a standstill on the bridge and killed one. Good dog. The skaven eventually defeated Bunny, but by then the heroes were up (and the rats were down). The skaven flee. The White Warlock and a verminkin die. The Hunters lost a veteran flagellant but Bunny lived so it was OK. The campaign week ended with no one having discovered anything significant about the Liche Lord's plots. The Doom track moves from one to two. Cue ominous music... | |

| Thanks Al. _________________________________________________________________________________ The Rise of the Liche Lord--Week SixPlayers and Warbands
Chris S--Loth Loren Seaguard (Sartosa) Jake B--Lahmian Vampires (Khemri) Jake L--Skaven Jim L (aka playtable)--Dark Elves (Lustria) Jim S (aka Von Kurst)--Witch Hunters Zach--Clan Pestilens (TC#29) There were only six of us but we did fight a few battles. Pesky PortalsThe Gray Assassins versus the Witch Hunters I don't have a catchy name for my warband. So far the only enemy hero killed was a dreg... So Dregsbane? This fight saw the death of the Ogre Bodyguard, who was hacked to death by the Assassin Adept after volunteering to try out the portals. No other members of the Witch Hunter band tried the portals after that. Then the event Forbidden Fruit happened right next to the portal that the Bounty Hunter, a flagellant and Bunny and friends were exploring. The flagellant rolled two elevens and ate the forbidden fruit. Bunny made her leadership roll (snake eyes!) but her friend ate the fruit as well. Three out of action on second turn... Then the Bounty Hunter tried to escape the tree by going through the portal. A wraith appeared... (Wraiths guard our portals, not elementals.) The Grays thought to hasten the depleted Hunters off the table by charging. That broke them as the Assassin Adept can only kill ogres. T3 Warrior Priests need not worry. The Assassin Adept made a full recovery. A Night Runner now hates the Witch Hunters. Haters gotta hate. The Witch Hunters find another graveyard to restore. This one yields 4 experience which led to several advances in Leadership and initiative... _________________________________________________________________________________ Hidden TreasureThe Lahmians versus the Dregsbane There was only desultory attention paid to searching for treasure. The Dregsbane arrived from the docks. The Undead despoiled a graveyard... The restoration business is never ending. Dogs gotta bone. Bunny Dregsbane versus Ebo the Thrall. Ebo won this round. The Vampire charges the Bounty Hunter. Bounty won't be collecting on this one. Meanwhile the Silver Hounds attack a lone flagellant. Poor hounds. The Undead broke with 3 or 4 skeletons, a wight and the Warlock out of action. The Vampire was wounded, but so was everyone she touched. Three skeletons crumble to dust. The Dregsbane find 12gc, 3 wyrdstone shards, light armor and a sword in the treasure chest. A veteran flagellant is killed by the Duchess. Much more action anon...
