| First game was somehow unspectacular. It wa a nice bar brawl so that all the people could get to know the rules.
4 warband leaders with two bodyguards of their choice except animals were allowed.
The game made a lot of fun, but I had not the last orders rules with me ( I did not know that we would play them). Because of that two other warbands had ther ogres with them. Especially the Osterlander was nasty with the ogre and the priest with the squirrel attack spell. But in the end a bandit warband with an ogre hired sword won. Her ogre was taking out my leader while being with one hitpoint left.
It was a battle on edge. Next time it will be even more fun, because we will have the multiplayer rules and the last orders rules with us.

I'd pick on your campaign organizer, but I showed up to ship battle night without my Warhammer Ahoy! rules. With three new players in the mix

| Thank you Al, Ben is unfortunately not a participant in this campaign. He is too busy.
Unfortunately I do not have any pictures from my first battle.
It was a three party battle. Ambush.
I had the highest rating and needed to escape against an goblin pirate and bandit wrband. The goblin pirates used the pirates rules, the bandit warband rules I did not know.
My heroes found alltogether 10 shards at a chaos shrine and were circeled by the enemy.
A fast paced escape was started and Siegfried tried to use his wardogs to interupt the enemies advanced and by blocking their running ability and interupt their attack lanes. The bandits ogre was taken down quite quickly, he attacked on his own and was then taken out of action by three dogs.
Nevertheles Siegfried lost two dogs and the zealot during the advance of the pirates and bandits. In round three when it was clear that Siegfried and his men cannot outrun their enemies he started an all out attack on the remaining goblins whicj were also near te map borde. The plan was to level the pirates and escape. But in reality the upcoming battle was a desaster. Although the witch hunter had the advantage of attacking nd partailly outnumbering the opponent in several fights, the attack was totoally ineffective. One goblin pirate hero in the end leveled three of Siegrfireds heroes and he also managed to take out Siegfried in meantime. The remaining dogs and the flagelant who secured the back to slow down the bandits were nearly all taken out. But luckily also the pirates had severe losses, so that at this time the remaining witch hunter hero and piarate hero negotiated a truce to secure the wyrd stones and to not being taken out by the bandits which still had nearly full numbers. In the end 9 of 13 fighters were taken out of action.
Due to the negotiated truce 5 ward stones were secured and one hero escaped without being taken out. This scenario is really a shocker because there are no root tests, so you fight until the bitter end. Especially for the band in the middle it is cruel because there is a probability that you will loose all heroes and earn nothing during this battle.
I got extremely lucky this time and only lost two war dogs and a zealot and only get one severe injury for my leader.
Unfortunately I did not made any pics, so I need to ask the guys who played with me to send me theirs. When I received them I will post them.

| Sorry to hear your first game was a mess. Coming out with five shards seems pretty good though. We play Ambush all the time. Mostly ambushers have a hard time winning the early fights with our group, because its hard to pin down the ambushed warband with only two beginning bands. Later, it can get a little hairy.
We also are big on voluntary routs if things look bad. The Ambushed just drops all his treasure and routs. (After taking 25% losses of course.)
I am glad the campaign is going, though. Seemed like not much was happening.

| I got lucky, few losses good haul is an excellent outcome.
I think it would have been better to launch a full out attack on the goblins. I think I may have been more succesful this way. Or just bribe one of those warbands with 5 tokens for a safe passage.
Next time I can try this. I also like your modified root rule.
I had 4 more battles in meantime and the campaign is going forward very well.
I try to find some time to post more reports soon.

| Here we go game number 3: Again a multiplayer game: This time with the goblin pirates and the skaven. 7 shards were spread in this region the table looked like this left flank and middle right flank pic is turned left The setup was like this long site : A-----B short site left C short site right D long site : E -----F The pirates chose short side D, becaus potentially two easy shard were to be had. The Skaven then chose site B, which was very bad for the pirates, my witch hunters chose site E The pirates and the Skaven quickly got their first shards and started shooting. My witch hunters took a strong stand in a ruin on my right flank to contain the pirates and to secure the shard in the building. this put the pirates n a difficult situation, because they were surrounded by Skaven and with hunters on two sites and they feared the Skaven too much and did not push them and they did not push in my direction, becaus the ruin I held was heavily defended. I was able to collect a shard in the middle and made a push for the shard on my left flank with a hero an flagellant and the halfling. When the Skaven send two warriors and got the shard before me I sent some support in two wardogs.mI was able to secure my left flank and this shard although the skaven send his evil sorcere with the evil black fury spell. He took out easily two wardogs with crazy 5 attacks with S4. But My flagellant stunned him in the counter attack and was nota bel to take him out. My right flank led to a semi hard push from te porate against the skaven. He was counter attacked and lost enough models to voluntarily root. The skaven attcked te pirate and in my next turn i was able to attack the skaven with wardogs and to put enough Skaven out of action to let them voluntarily root. It was a great game I secured alltogether 9 shards and lost only one dog. The skaven are an evil warband with a good player. 13 skaven with 11-12 sling skaven. This time I won, but I believe it will be much harder next time. | |

| Ok, summary for the enxt battle. The last battle I won and now occupied the tavern I found. The tavern is great because it cuts the upkeep costs of hired swords in half.. I also have a pic for our map Before I summarize the next battle I want to explain some background of what happenend before. A campaign member who had back luck in the first two games and who lost his Ogre henchman wrote a message roleplay style in which he asked for support in form of a credit. I took his message and send him an in play messanger with an offer to meet me in my tavern so we could talk. And he came, but another warband who was not aware what we were communicating about, joined a three party battle. It was again a wyrdstone hunt in the region were my tavern was located. Unfortunately we did not make any pictures. The Bandits and my wwarband quickly met on some kind of market place. The bandist used their hired sowrd ogre to recover two shards, but he was therefore not in the big battle in the middle. wher the few bandits got swallowed by wall of wardogs and flagellants. The bandits fled quickly and the Ostlanders and witch huntersshared the victory and the leaders started to talk about a credit and an alliance. So the witch hunters gave the Ostlanders four shards as credit, with a payback of one shard per game week. The roleplay elemnt of our messages and the connected meeting was awesoem and a lot of fun.

| Short update. The next game was another three party battle with bandits and Ostlanders. I had to defend the wizards mansion which was located in the area around the great library. It was a quick battle because the bandits had no chance in a quick rush against me in the middle. They sacrificed the ogre very quickly and routed voluntarily. The Ostlanders and witch hunters shared the victory and looted later on the great library. Additionally we found an magic tome in the wizards mansion which we sold and shared the profit. A little bit later we had a four party game in which the witch hunters and Ostlanders battled site by site against Orcs and goblin pirates. The target was a well with wyrdstone shards in the middle of the battle. In this game I was lucky that the goblin pirate did not get initiative, because he had a blunderbuss and could have hit6-8 models with one shoot. Luckily I went before him and could spread out my troops and did take the one with blundebuss out of action and shot he captain with another lucky bounce. The pirates quickly rooted and the orcs had no chance against the combined forces of Ostlander and witchhunters. Before this game I had a game against the skaven. We played breakthrough ( Skaven player had the choice)and I had the task to defend with 16 witch hunters and hired swords against 19 rats ( one had infiltration and was in the zone in round zero) .It was crazy. He divided his forces in two big groups and I tried to built up a two piece defensive line. I hold my left flank but got over run on my right flank. I finally voluntarily routed with 5 minis out of action and only lost a dog or two. He played well and used every advantage he had. I will search if I have some pics n my noble I can share with you.
