Often. Other times it's a giant time sink. Just have to maintain the right balance (like with most things in life)

It can be addictive.

I have been playing around with some new homemade faerie/butterfly wings.
The wings are made with a paper punch. The inner "skin" is the peal off layer
from insulation foam:


The Goblin is a basic O.O.P. plastic G.W. Night Goblin with green stuff shoe extensions & belt:






I should have him primed later today..maybe.

That's a good idea. Might use if for windows. I look forward to seeing this crazy goblin painted up.

...now that you mention it, it is a lot like the windows that were on some Christmas style buildings from my boyhood trains.

The two Goblins of altered appearance are now all base coated & ready for some paint.

AND I did a rebase & rebase coat on two minis that I picked up in my one & only visit to The War Store out in Southold, LI. These Guys are either Black Scorpion or Laughing Monk. In either case, they are no longer listed as available. One is a Fairy Hunter; the other I think was called The Seven Sins:




I am hoping to overcome the intimidation factor that is part of very cluttered minis...I hope.

I really like the butterfly wings, though I think the goblin might be surprised to find himself attached to something so pretty! Looking forward to seeing the mushroom-hatted one painted up too, & the two crazy fellows at the end -- I suspect your colour-rich style might be more forgiving of clutter than more muted styles, but I definitely sympathise with the clutter-fear... (I think that's been a problem with GW models for a while now -- a lot of them are quite busy, even basic regimental troopers where you need to paint dozens of them for an army!)

Thanks for the morale bolstering reply, Rhydderch. The clutter on these two is less fiddly that on Rackham's pieces. I wound up giving away some of those.

SO I gave it a try:


It is a bit larger than I intended, but not too much so. I am pretty happy with the results.
I picked up a couple of techniques that I will apply to further Jack O'Lanterns.

The Mushroom/Goblin Shaman is now done:


What exactly he is, other than strange, not clear:


...but he does strange rather well:


There you have him...whatever he is.

I like him- he is distinct from the other mushrooms. It looks like he is trying to transform the smaller 'shrooms with a spell.

Thanks for the reply, Codsticker. He does look like he is casting some sort of spell on the mushrooms.
I imagined he was doing a rendition of "Singing In The Rain". That might have something to do with the current weather conditions.

Slowly getting there.

On the Mushroom/Goblin Shaman, I can definitely see the Singing in the Rain bit -- my first thought was 'showman!' Or should that be showgoblin? or showshroom? Whatever, the point is he's got flare!

& the pumpkinheads are coming on very spookily -- I like it...

The body dollie is pretty much done & ready for green stuffing on the Pumpkinhead Specter:


The hands will be a challenge I am sure.

I will have to wait patiently or not for the green stuff to cure before finishing the hands.
