- Hear ye! Hear ye! Captain O'Shea's Perilous Wadders Club attacked by midgets!
Captain Ric attempted to make it past a surly band of obese midgets. He deployed his gunners high atop an old barbican and spread the rest of the men out. A particularly pudgy midget accompanied by a huge lumbering oaf came from the right. The oaf took an arquebus ball to the head, which slowed him a bit, after which his approach became more cautious. The men on the right ran to the left and forward, leaving only their noble (literally) and seniorest student, Marquis Marc, to slow the advance of the monstrous humanoid. On the left, a faerie folk vagabond waited for the men to be driven to him in their haste to avoid the oaf. The armour and shields that the Club had purchased proved their worth by deflecting many missiles as the men crossed the open area in the centre-right. Instructor Schlok was not as fortunate as the rest of the men however, and went down in a hail of shafts. But, Pissed Ol' Pat, having closed in on the effeminate nature boy, let off all four barrels of his double duellers, knocking the elfish bugger out of the fight.
Meanwhile, back on the right, the midgets' corpulent cook had held the young Marquis in place long enough for the large, lumbering blunderer to work his way around, out of sight of the arquebussiers, and attack. Marc parried several blows from the paunchy wee chef, but went down quickly before the rushing, giant brute. Now, no longer worried about hitting their fallen friend, the triad of gunners opened fire from their barbican on the portly preparer of provisions - a recipe for pain! He would take no further part in the ruckus.
Far to the front now, and on the left, the Captain of the Club took out one more babyish bushwhacker before close fighting was joined. A pistolier went down, never to rise again. Pat, Herr Trigger, and a flautist whose name is yet unknown were engaged against a rather nondescript dwarf, but were unable to harm him, nor were they harmed. The fight was still going strong as the sun sank below the ruins. The sounds of struggle slowly dwindled and it is unclear which band, if either, were finally victorious.

| A GREAT report even without photos! I take it that Fate, in the form of the shop owner turning off the lights, ended the battle. | |

| You take it right. Nick, the manager of The Game Preserve, comes into the room when 9:30 approaches yelling simply 'LEAVE!'. It was quite a long game, but I found it to be very interesting. There was much maneuvering, run blocking, hiding, and cetera. | |

| Long Lost Battle Reports on a Flash Drive I lost track of.
The Week Before Thanksgiving
A Dark Elven Night
“A darker night provides brighter stars, Foes draw near, our brothers marred.”
“Um… I got the bit about foes drawing near, thanks for making that clear, Lemur, but I’m afraid you’ve rather mystified me on the rest.” Gecko commented to Lemur, before looking up to examine the veracity of Lemur’s first claim. “I mean, true it’s a dark night and the stars are bright, but I don’t see how that has to do anything with the second half. It doesn’t really give us any clues as to who is. I mean, I don’t even have a brother, Lemur. Er…. Lemur?” Gecko took a moment to look at her surrounds, noting a complete lack of warband members. “Guys?”
“GECKO! Get down here, there’s dark elves to kill!”
“Oh! Awesome, on my wa-aaaaaaaaaaaaaauuggghh… Pthoooo…” Gecko, taking perfect advantage of the dark night to trip over into a mouthful of dirt.
Meanwhile, the rest of the warband advanced through a broken building on the right side of the battlefield, covering their movement with ranged fire, keeping a cold one and another elf pinned down*. A small contingent held the center.
“They’ve got a force coming around to flank, from the left, Shadow Master.” Virellan, a high elf ranger currently in their employ, pointed out on the side. Ekaterina, a hired Kislevite ranger, and Gerbil advanced behind him.
“Gerbil, hold the left flank! We’ll reinforce you when we can!”
“Affirmative.” Gerbil drew her bow, dashing deftly away into the darkness, vaulting the cracked ground then sliding to a halt behind a fence.
“Truly, the only two warriors here with an appropriate degree of graveness!” Caribou smiled, before his smile turned upside down at the sight of a Cold One dashing out of the night to ram Virellan straight into the ground.
“Excepting yourself, oh, fearless leader?” Gecko yelled up from the mud.
“Oh give it a rest and get yourself to the center to support Virellan and Ekaterina!”
“Ekaterina, help damn you!” Shouted Virellan, currently flat on his back, desperately holding the slavering jaws of a cold one away from his neck.
“Eh….. Eh….. I vos paid to hunt treasure, ya? Not for ze fightink?” Ekaterina halfheartedly drew her sword but was loathe to join the battle against so fearsome a beast.
“Don’t worry, I’m comi-Aaaaauuuuggh…” Ekaterina was then distracted as a normally nimble elf, Gecko, tumbled off a cobbled walkway and into a dead tree. “Shoddy human street paving.”
“Eh, I do not think they intended street to be hit by giant ball of stone from sky.” Ekaterina defended her race, albeit slightly concerned.
Then their conversation was interrupted as a cold one head rolled past Ekaterina’s feet and gently bumped into Gecko. “YOU… TWO…. STOP…. TALKING….” Virellan gasped for breath, a bloody sword in one hand, clutching a bitten side with the other.
“Behind!” Ekaterina managed to yell out just before a High Born Dark Elves charged out of the darkness a single blow sending Virellan silent to the ground.
“OPEN FIRE!” Caribou yelled, diverting his own bow to strike at the High Born through a window.
With a laugh, the High Born simple twirled his cloak, the sea dragon’s scales brushing aside the hail of arrows like so many toothpicks.
Advancing forward, he raised his blade at the cowering Ekaterina before an arrow sprouted in his arm and leg. Gecko** kneeled behind Ekaterina, bow drawn, a smile dawning on her lips.
The fell High Born, now humbled, signaled the retreat.
“Dot vos, not bad, ya? Ve hunt?”
“No, to the flank, we need to make sure Walker Gerbil is alright!” Caribou lead the way.
“Their flanking force was insufficient.” Gerbil*** calmly walked out of the shadows, drenched in a spray of blood, sword and dagger held low, dripping a telltale siren of her approach.
“Ooooh.. Um.. Good.” Gecko was slightly taken aback.
*Knocked down over and over and over again.
**Walker Perpetual Gecko managed to fall down three times in the dark, yet on her final turn, redeem herself gloriously with a quick shot to the enemy warband leader, penetrating right through his Sea Dragon cloak and taking him out of action with multiple injuries, one of which was a arm wound for -1 WS.
***Gerbil, a recent Lad’s Got Talent, singlehandedly defeated a force of three Dark Elves, at least two of which were heroes, killing Mortisha, the sorceress.
The Long Lost Brothers
“Stand and die, dark elf scum!”
“Oh, Phoenix King, not again.” Caribou facepalmed.
*Cue a vicious slug match with heavy casualties on both sides. This is the closest the Shadow Warriors have ever come to defeat, and the first time they’ve permanently lost a member*
Post Battle
“For the last time, we are not Dark Elves!” Caribou was in impassioned discussion with Cobals.
“Brother, is that you?” Awake Marmoset exclaimed, speaking up for the first time in quite some time, “I thought you died when the Witch King fled!”
“Niel!” An elf from the Lothran lines ran to embrace Marmoset.
“Your name is Niel*?” Gecko asked.
“Er… Yes…”
“Brother, you must join us!” Niel’s brother implored passionately.
“Eh… Sure. Kay. See you later guys.” Niel decided to go for it.
“Wait, what? But what about…” Caribou began.
“We’ve won every single battle, and all you use me for is to absorb arrows for Forecast Octopus. They need my help more.”
“True. On all accounts.” Octopus nodded, unhelpfully to Caribou’s cause.
“Hmm… I suppose we can let you have Awake Marmoset. Just try not to attack us again, we are not Dark Elves.” Caribou relented.
“No promises. You guys keep hiding in the shadows where it’s hard to tell.” Cobal’s replied, shrugging.
And so they left, Caribou glaring all the way, as Gecko came up behind him. “I thought you said last time that this was the last time you were going to tell them we weren’t Dark Elves.
“GAAAAH!”
*Elias was not too fond of my unit’s name, so he decided on “Niel”. The whole occurrence of the “twins” thing, happened because we had both bought the same model, and painted them differently, and, as my Awake Marmoset died, Elias used the pressgang rule to bring him to his side.
Shadows in the Dark Journal of Master "Paradigm Caribou"
Foolish Tileans, they tried to attack us in the night. Do they not know we are the shadow warriors? They were never able to come to grips with us. Each time they rushed forward to gain sight of us, we flitted backwards like wraiths, shooting all the while. They fell by ones and twos until all fight was out of them and they fled.
We are the Sons* of Nagarythe. Fear our wrath**.
*Also daughters. **Who are you expecting to read this? Sigh, you apparently. Maybe some pride in your heritage will result.

| Week 5Andrew--Shadow Warriors Bob--Reiklanders Chris--Tileans (Lustria) Elijah--Gunnery School of Nuln Elias (son of Elijah)--Lothern Sea Patrol Jim L--Dark Elves (take Two, also from Lustria) Jim S--Halflings Matt--Undead This game night was a month ago now, which is too long for most of us to reconstruct events. The battles Long Lost Brothers and Shadows in the Dark have already been reported above. Fortunately, Dimlit is a young halfling and has the day (or more correctly, the night) seared into his memory... From the journal of Dimlit Furryfoote 11 Ulriczeit 2014It is with a heavy heart that I report the murder of Twiddie Lighttoes, my cousin of the Gipfel Lighttoes. It happened this evening after sunset. The Furryfoote Company was caught out of doors. Twiddie was scouting ahead when he encountered the dread Dark Elves of Naggaroth. Alas Twiddie was trapped inside of the only intact structure for acres of ruined ground. We heard his warning shout, but being Twiddie, my cousin did not think of himself, he sought only to warn the Company.
Uncle Fantaginus led us forward to support Twiddie, but the night was dark and our progress was blocked by the nightmare city itself. A building began to scream! The noise hurt our ears and drowned out Twiddie's cries. Many of the Hedgewardens fell senseless from the screams. Then the Dark Elves struck, cutting us off from Twiddie. Only Gadabout was able to break through by using his Horse of Air. The brave warlock flew to Twiddie's aid, but alas arrived too late. Both Twiddie and Gadabout were cut down by their foes.
Aftermath: In all four scouts, Piggy, Uncle Fantaginus, Gadabout and Twiddie fell before the attack or because of the awful screaming walls. We found Twiddie's body the next morning when we returned to search for the fallen. Gadabout is sorely wounded and may not return to us for weeks. The elf, Legless, quarreled with Uncle over pay and has left as well. Uncle was robbed as he lay senseless after the attack, so the Company had to replace his equipment in addition to having to send back to the Moot for a replacement for poor Twiddie... Wyrdstone HuntThe Furryfoote Company encounters more elves From the journal of Dimlit Furryfoote 12 Ulriczeit 2014
Our conflict with the local elfs continues. Cousin Tweedle D. Lighttoes arrived almost immediately after Twiddie's death. Tweedle agreed to take over Twiddie's duties though the poor lad must be almost blind with grief. He tripped and fell from an upper story while collecting wyrdstone. The resulting fall rendered Tweedle out of action for the rest of the fight.
Oh yes, we had quite a battle with the Sea Patrol right after the altercation with the Dark Elves. I am sick of elves. The arrow storm was unending. A ruin to the south of our postion burst into flame just as the elves appeared. Gimlet was sure the elves had set the fire just to mask their advance. Piggy and the scout Dolittle were killed. I collected one shard of wyrdstone, but that was the extent of our success. We retreated in good order dragging the wounded Urrrp II with us. The elves claimed the field and stole the shard Tweedle had risked his neck to collect. Tweedle, Urrrp II and three scouts recovered from their injuries. In addition Ana Gonovich returned to us, which raised our spirits tremendously.Gimlet and Garn (far distance) keep the elves at bay. More elves lurking. Halflings behind a wall. | Last Report Journal of Master Paradigm Caribou and Walker Perpetual Gecko
The Nuln school of gunnery attacked us. We fended them off, with some effort, but just as we drove them off, the Dark Elves attacked our rear. Doombolts felled many of us, and the rest of us fell in a brutal melee. Marten barely managed to drag me and Lemur off the field of battle. There was no mercy for the rest of us.
Master Paradigm Caribou is dead. Weaver Forecast Octopus is dead. Warrior Analysis Gerbil is dead. Ranger Ekaterina is dead. That orc is dead, even. I do not know the fate of Virellan.
We are tending to our wounds, Lemur limping heavily and I am bedridden with a chest wound. I have contacted Coballs and company to see if they wish us to aid them, but their warband is already large, and likely does not need our assistance.
Vengeance unsatisfied has a most bitter taste. I believe this is how Caribou felt about our homeland that I barely remember.

| Week 6Andrew--Shadow Warriors Bob--Reiklanders Chris--Tileans (Lustria) Elijah--Gunnery School of Nuln Jim L--Dark Elves (take Two, also from Lustria) Jim S--Halflings December 18th we had six out of eight attendees. We also only had two tables available because of other games going on at the store. So we split into two three player games. One is described above. The scenario was Wizard's Mansion. It turned bloody early. The only photos of the night were the elf casualties: killed outright were the 'orc' arabian merchant, the Kislev Ranger and Shadow Weaver Forecast Octopus. Master Paradigm Caribou and Warrior Analysis Gerbil died in Pit Fights. An unlucky Druchii was merely robbed. Generic Pit Fighter 3, Elf Heroes 0. In addition Herr Trigger of Nuln was killed by the Secret Agents. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Monster HuntThe Tileans rob the Reiklanders and Halflings of hard earned treasure. From the journal of Dimlit Furryfoote 18 Ulriczeit 2014
It wasn't fair. Garn shot that beast twice. I wounded it once. The enraged Hippogriff launched itself at a charging knight (we had hoped to kill it before the knight could charge home). The beast died on his lance. Naturally we raced toward the beast's lair. Blinded by greed and loathe to allow the Reiklanders to get their grubby paws on our gold. A storm of crossbow bolts slammed into both warbands before we got ten feet.
Urrrp II went down fighting Reikland heroes. One of the Reiklanders fell with a crossbow bolt in his back before Urrrp II hit the ground. Those foreigners the Tileans shot into the fight from three directions. Garn was wounded twice. Uncle Bulgo broke from cover to charge one of the nests of foreign archers, but tripped and fell trying to leap a gap. It was a shambles.
Urrrp II was killed along with Peppy Littletoes, who had just joined us from home. The Reiklanders reported heavy casualties, but none were posted in the broadsheets. The Tileans were reported to gain much treasure including a Mordheim Artifact

I have no good campaign reason for this aside from my own dislike of Mordheim as a setting. I really like the game system, but the idea of fighting over a ruined city destroyed by a magical comet never caught my imagination. So off into the wilderness we go. New scenery, new scenarios and some new warbands. Andrew's Secret Agents were destroyed in their only defeat. Jim L had wanted to play Hochland Bandits from the first, but in the weeks before we started the Adventures in Ostermark campaign one of the locals had expressed an interest in joining us (as this particular individual does every few years) and he had chosen the Bandits first. By the time we figured that our potential player was not going to join us again, the Dark Elves had grudges. With the murder of Twiddie and the massacre of the Secret Agents Jim L was comfortable moving on... | Blood on the PasturelandsThe Furryfoote Company contemplates adding some Horse From the Journal of Dimlit Furryfoote 15 Nachhexen 2015
The Tileans continue to bedevil the Company. Now that the threat of the Elves has disappeared. The strength of the Big Men from Tilea is growing. The Company felt the reach of their power this past Backertag. Tweedle had located a small herd of horses that were being watched by a group of Kurgan marauders. Anna Gornovich insisted that we attack the Kurgan, which we did, routing them with ease.
Our victory was short lived. The Tileans had infiltrated the area while we battled the Kurgan. Their crossbow bolts fell upon us as we tried to take the horse herd as spoils of war. The hedgewardens who entered the paddock were shot down to a man, except Leddy Proudfoot, who seemed immune to the deadly shafts despite being struck several times. Raspin Oldtocker was killed. When our proud Ogre fell, Uncle Fantaginus signaled a withdrawal. The Furryfootes attack. Unridden horses are in the paddock. What look like unridden horses outside the paddock are actually Kurgan warriors. Tileans hide behind the cabin (and occupy the huge tower you can't see in the southwest corner of the board.) The Tilean side of things. Minus the tower with 6 crossbowmen, of course. Not a good time to be a halfling. The Ogre hides behind the cabin, too. The Ogre is shot down in one turn. Bulgo Furryfoote (the Cook) rides off into the sunset on his captured steed.

| The Mafia! Of course, it all becomes clear now, especially the disappearance of the elves. ______________________________________________________________________________________ The Wild WoodThe Furryfootes encounter minions of the Great Enemy in the Old Forest From the Journal of Dimlit Furryfoote 15 Nachhexen 2015
Calamity piles upon calamity. My heart is broken, but we must go on. The evening began with ill omens, shrill cries from the deep wood, tossing branches with no wind, roots and sharp branches disturbing sleep that had begun on cleared, smooth ground. Anna Gornovich circled the camp beyond the firelight. "Something evil moves in the night," she reported. Then we heard the howl. Full of evil, fear and dispair it was. "That is no living wolf," said Gimlet the dwarf. He took a long pull on his flask.
The undergrowth seemed full of rustling menace. All the branches of the nearby trees rattled and clattered as though a gale blew, but no breeze disturbed the night. Uncle Fantaginus roused us all. "Arm and prepare," he ordered. "We will not be taken unaware." We had barely armed ourselves when the scream shattered the night. Full of pain and terror, the voice seemed that of a child to me, though others heard their parents voice in that awful cry. All discipline disappeared we rushed like a rabble into the forest. Some in terror, others in anger, all to save the poor soul who screamed in such agony. All but Anna, who was tripped by a questing root.
"Come back Comrades Furryfeet," she cried. "It is an evil glamour! Shut your ears! Come back!"
Alas we heeded our comrade not. All of us rushed headlong into the night. Branches caught at us, strange lights moved in the night. Gorn cried, "There it is! Kill it!" The Hedgewarden shot several arrows into the dark. There was a moan. The forest shook like a living thing. More cries echoed through the night. We rushed further into the dark.
Suddenly a bright brand appeared. Uncle had summoned the sword Gilcrist. "To me, Furryfoote Company! To me!" he cried. We rushed to the light. The forest calmed, but there was no silence. More howls split the night. We could all hear chanting and gibbering coming from all around. "The Enemy is nigh," said Uncle Fantaginus. "Stay by me. The Light will protect us."
We won a victory. Not a great battle, merely a skirmish. Dead things walked the night. Uncle Fantaginus led us against them. He faced many foes. Burrrp! the ogre smashed ghouls and zombies. Uncle Fantaginus stood with Uncle Bulgo as more minions of Evil rushed out of the night. Uncle Bulgo cut one of the twisted men down, but not before Uncle Fantaginus suffered a grievous hurt. The fiends broke, even as the Sword Gilcrist disappeared and the Light died.Gimlet trips in the dark as the Furryfoote Company rushes into the Old Forest. Zombies, ghouls and dire wolves wait in the snowy dark. The undead lost a Lads Got Talent Ghoul, killed by the ogre, Burrrp!. The Furryfoote company lost its leader, Fantaginus Furryfoote, who is now a zombie! After the battle, the Furryfootes met an Empire Patrol who gave them useful information...

Great? Fantaginus stalks the night as a zombie! Oh well. In other news Andrew seems to have developed some internet problems. Here are some photos of his first battle with the Cathayan pirates-- The HermitMatt's ghouls battle Cathayans in the hermits cave. (You have to imagine the cave...) There is a nice tower nearby but it is haunted by zombies... The wolves and vampire make an appearance. The Cathayans reached the cave first and allied with a Truthsayer, whose presence may or may not have broken the Undead. Cathayans win their first game.

| Ah so! Clever these Cathayans! There that took care of my Charlie Chan moment. I was going to ask how the Cathay Lads wound up in the Mordheim area, but there are things man was not meant to know.

| Thanks for the comments gentlemen. I have been swamped at work lately, but most weeks we still get a few games in. I have lost my story line with poor Dimlit. Horrible things have happened to him and his friends...Its all a blur. | |

| Campaign Week EightPlayers and warbands present Andrew--Cathayan Pirates Bob--Reiklanders Chris--The Marksmen of Miragliano Elias--Lothren Sea Patrol Jim L--The Look Out Boys (Hochland Bandits) Jim S--The Furryfoote Company Blood on the Pasturelands IIThe Furryfootes acquire more horseflesh From the Journal of Dimlit Furryfoote 22 Nachhexen 2015
For the past week we have searched for killers of Uncle Fantaginus in a vain attempt to have revenge and recover his body. Garn Halftoe, the Chief Hedgewarden, has assumed command of the Company. This was somewhat of surprise to Frito and I, but Uncle Bulgo lost the election of Captain by several votes despite the support of his Ogre bodyguard, my cousins and his wonderful cooking. Uncle B has been behaving rather erratically of late, which has caused some concern among the Hedgewardens. (There are rumors among the Hedgewardens that Uncle B is sampling the 'spices' he captured at the Wizard's Mansion too regularly.) Garn is the most senior of the Hedgewardens and has served with the Company longer than anyone who is not a Furryfoote. (Garn is family of course, he is related through Aunt Hermonia Furrytoe of the Birnbaum Furrytoes, who is also Garn's Great Aunt twice removed.)
Despite Anna Gornovich's best efforts, instead of encountering the foul Undead, we happened upon another group of Kurgan raiders and their horse herd. The Big Men from Riekland and the Sea Patrol were also in the vicinity. Garn attempted to negotiate an alliance with the Men and Elfs, but could not get past their suspicion of Uncle Fantaginus rumored transformation into a zombie. Thus the forces of Good did fall out among each other, which Gadabout is always preaching against. The resulting attack on the Evil Ones was ill-coordinated, piecemeal and dangerous.
The Kurgan herdsmen were shot or hacked down to a man in moments, but the victory did not sate the forces arrayed. Man fell upon Halfling, Elf shot both. It was a horrible, confused affray that ended with no victor. The Furryfoote Company was able to secure two mounts in the confusion. Although several Halfings (and Piggy) took minor wounds, none were serious. The attack on the horse herd. Once again the horses outside of the paddock are assumed to be ridden by Outriders, but by this point most of the Outriders are unhorsed or dead. As the Hedgewardens draw the elfs fire, Cook and Tweedle secure mounts. The Patrol's firing line. Post Battle The Furryfoote Company took no casualties and secured two horses. After withdrawing from the field the Company discovered the remains of a slaughtered Empire patrol. The Company duly confiscated their weapons and effects to be returned to their families...for a fee. The Elfs suffered the two Swordmasters out of action. One may have died. The elfs captured no horses. The Reiklanders suffered the most losses including three heroes out of action. Several Men died although who they were is not recorded. The Men secured two horses which helped alleviate their losses.
