Those are some very inspirational images indeed. They make me think of foam and balsa constructs immediately, begging to be recreated.

Thanks a lot! Well, I wish I was any good with scratch-building techniques.... I might have a go at foam and balsa one day.

Aardman (the people who did Wallace and Gromit) are releasing The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists in March 2012 (the film is for some reason also known as "The Pirates! Band of Misfits"). It's based on the book by Gideon Defoe and the concept design was done by Jonny Duddle (who illustrated The Pirate Cruncher).

The pirate town in the trailer looks like a table I want to build and play!
