Dark Elf Incursion: Defense of Marienburg!

Well, our new campaign is in full swing now with 6 players confirmed, and two more casuals to show up when they can. Tonight saw several exciting clashes between the Dark Elves and their prey. The idea is that a Dark Elf Black Ark has made its way to the Northwest coast of the Empire, threatening the City of Marienburg as well as the entire coastal region with its raiding parties looking for captives to be sold as slaves. Numerous pleas for aid have brought many mercenaries to the region, eager for a fight and the promise of reward from one of the richest cities in the Empire. This also gives the players a new setting to fight in, as well as a chance to use some warbands that may not be seen in Mordheim.

The first battle saw a band of Wood Elf Rangers routed by their dark cousins, Despite volley after volley of bowfire against the Dark Elves, as well as the inability of their caster to muster any magical power at all, the Wood Elves could not bring a single enemy down, and were scattered once the fight was taken to them. Though most only suffered injury to their pride, one Ranger recieved a head wound which turned the once-peaceful elf into a frenzied fanatic, eager to wreak vengeance upon his foes.

Misguided rivalries prevented a united front against the Dark Elves in Marienburg itself. A band of Dwarven Treasure Hunters, unable to let stand the insult to their honor, took to the streets against the local Witch Hunters, who recklessly accused them of aiding the Dark Elves. The conflict was brief but bloody, seeing a pistol duel between one of the Witch Hunters and the Dwarf Engineer amidst the ruins of a local taphouse. After losing three zealot henchmen in one round of combat, and their Flagellants too far away to make any impact, the fanatics decided discretion was the better part of valor and fled the field, much to the delight of the dwarfs. Luckily for both sides, no one was seriously injured, but such squabbles will undoubtedly lead to further problems in the future...

Further down the coast, a small fishing village found itself the target of a Dark Elf raiding party looking for some easy pickings. Unfortunately for the Dark Elves, a numerically superior force of Reiklanders had made their camp not far away, and battle soon commenced. Using their heightened climbing and shooting skills, the Dark Elves managed to pick off two henchmen relatively quickly, as well as see a third blasted by an arcane bolt from the Sorceress the Dark elves had brought along. Despite the early losses, as well as a flanking ambush from two Corsairs that hindered a trio of archers, the Reikland Captain and his personal best took the fight straight to the Elves, and pushed them back and out of the village. By the end of the melee, only two Dark Elves were left standing, and they fled the field. Unfortunately for the Reiklanders, their second-in-command suffered an arm wound, and they will be forced to take the field without his Greatsword in their next battle. The grateful citizens of the village provided their saviors with a fine suit of light armor as payment, along with 3 treasures. The Dark Elves only lost their Cold One Hound, and all of the Dark Elf heroes advanced, each gaining Fey Quickness to bolster their already impressive fighting skills, though they only managed to scrounge 1 treasure after the battle. They also managed to find a group of straggling captives after the battle, and sold the poor wretches as slaves for a meager sum.

Mighty battles were fought all around tonight, and we all had a great time. Definitely looking forward to next Wednesday's turn of events.

Warboss Rotgob surveyed the ruined outskirts of the once proud trading village. There had been some good fighting here, and from the looks of it, more was to come. To the north he noticed a group of Dwarfs getting ready to square off against a Vampire and his undead entourage. Once his unruly lads had made themselves noticed, however, the two groups seemed to put aside their differences for a brief moment and turned to face them in some sort of perverse alliance. So much the better, he thought. "Gunna be sum' good bashin' 'ere!" he bellowed to his warband.
"Oi, boss!" screamed one of his runts as he pointed behind the massive Orc. "Dere's some 'umies ovver dere to the west!" Rotgob turned to look and saw a sizeable group of men taking up defensive positions on his flank. This was not good. The stunties and walking dead his boys could deal with, but now the odds were definitely not in his favor. Thinking quickly for an Orc, he bellowed out an offer. "'EY YOU DERE IN DA RUBBLE! YOU DON'T ATTACKS US, AND WE DON'T ATTACKS YOUS! 'LEAST NOT JUST YET WE WON'T!"
Captain Werner von Kriegstadt could hardly believe his ears. The Orcs were offering a temporary truce? In all his years, he had seen nothing quite so strange on the battlefield, and he'd seen his share.
"What do you think, sir?" asked Hans, his young second.
"Best take this opportunity while we still can," the Captain replied. "Tell Johann to take our archers up to the top of that building there and give us as much covering fire as you can. I'll lead the rest of us in a flanking move from the west. Let's let these brutes do most of the close-up fighting. I doubt they'll mind. Move out."


With the Dark Elf warbands curiously absent this week, the other, various warbands in the area just can't seem to unite against a common foe! This week's main event was a 4-player battle with some interesting alliances! Since Luke's Dwarfs seem more inclined to take on humans than any other warband, and to make the combined warband ratings a little more even, it seems that Bobby's Orcs would side with me. That left Travis and his undead to unite with the dwarfs.

While the Dwarf quarreler manages to pick off one of the archers! Not sure whether it was the bolt in his neck, or the long fall afterwards, but either way, this henchman ended up dead!

The Reiklanders use their superior ranged abilities to pick off two of the Dwarfs, as the rest of their warband get ready to sweep the field.

From his heightened position and due to a failed animosity check, a Goblin convinces himself to do a diving charge against some of the zombies. Needless to say it doesn't turn out so well for him.

The goblin miraculously survives his plummet from the wall, only to be swarmed by the dwarfs and taken OoA.

By this time, the Dwarfs had lost both Slayers and the Undead had lost 4 zombies and the Vampire, and decided to quit the field.

This tidy sum was my exploration results! 5 Shards and I can infiltrate through the catacombs to set up 3 models anywhere I choose next battle. I'll take that!

With the greenskins picking loot off of the corpses of the fallen, Captain von Kriegstadt motioned to his men. "Best leave this place while they're distracted. Get Heinrich's gear, he won't be needing it anymore. I'm sure we'll be seeing these Orcs again, but there has been enough blood spilled today. Come on, there's treasure to be found."
"Captain!" hissed young Kailan, the newest promoted recruit, who had just come up from the lower levels. "I found a secret passageway in the basement behind some old bookcases. We should probably check it out!"
Nodding, the Captain motioned silently, and as one, the Reiklanders moved as quietly as they could into the depths.

Warboss Rotgob, pulling his blade out of one of the fallen, turned to face the building where the Reiklanders had set up. "RIGHT YOU! FIGHT'S NOT DUN QUITE YET! OI! WHERE'D DEY GO??" he bellowed, grabbing the idiotic goblin that had dove off of the platform right in front of him.
"Dunno boss," the runt squeaked. "I jus' woke up meself!"
"We's gunna meet up wif dem soon," Rotgob muttered as he dropped the goblin. "And when we does, we'll show 'em jus' what dey missed out on!"

Nice reports. Sounds like the orcs and the Reiklanders have a bit of a rivalry going.

We kinda do, even though we haven't actually faced off against each other yet! Bobby, the guy playing them, is also our resident Dark Elf player, and was wanting to go for something different. His Greenskins are new, but so far they are 3-0! More BatReps to come soon, and it'll be interesting to see what happens next.

Captain von Kriegstadt gazed across the remains of the second ruined village they had encountered in as many weeks. By Sigmar those Dark Elves were thorough! In a place that once hundreds called home, nary a living soul could be found. The Marienburg liaison had pressed them hard to find any information they could on the raids, and partnered his Reiklanders with a group of Dwarfs that had pledged their aid. While these dwarfs were not nearly as volatile as the group he and his men had encountered earlier in the week, they were clearly novices. He hoped their inexperience would not be too much of a liability. He stopped in his tracks suddenly, as he heard a familiar bellowing voice from across the village square. "WE'S CAUGHT UP WIF YOUS DIS TIME!! AND WE'S NOT GUNNA LET YOU SNEAKY GITZ GET AWAY!! GET 'UM LADZ!!"
Unsheathing his dueling pistols, he and his men steeled themselves for the inevitable. Hopefully these dwarf rookies would prove themselves, but he doubted it. His heart sank when he also noticed a familiar towering figure guiding a shambling group of corpses in front of him. The Vampire they had faced last time was here too, and seemed to be siding with the Orcs. This was not going to be a good day...

A goblin fanatic crushes a Reiklander halberdier, and then slams into a wall, taking both out of action. A foolish Orc also steps out of cover, and is picked off by Crossbow fire.

A stray shot from one of the Dwarf shooters hits one of his own in the back! The poor unfortunate was knocked over, and then swarmed by an angry Orc and Ghoul, while the Engineer bravely faces down a pair of ghouls by himself.

The Orc Warboss squares off against the Reiklanders, despite taking heavy losses from Crossbow fire and two-handed weapon attacks.

A bold plan fails to pay off. One of the Reiklander heroes manages a brave diving charge against the Vampire, causing two wounds on the vile creature, but once it hit back, along with support from its' minions, the results were inevitable.

The Dwarfs rout, and leave the Reiklander flank in tatters. After one more round, and losing three more models, the Reiklanders beat a hasty retreat.

Warboss Rotgob cackled loudly as he watched the humans and stunties rout. It had been a good ruck, but despite what some of his boys were boasting, those humans had put up more of a fight than he had expected. That Vampire he'd have to keep an eye on too. No telling what that sneaky creature had in mind... He turned back to his mob, and casually kicked the jellied remains of the goblin fanatic. "Why we keep getting these runts?" he asked his Shaman. "Dey nevver do last more'n one fight!"

As the Reiklanders regrouped at the edge of the woods, Captain von Kriegstadt caught a glimpse of a small group of stragglers led by a burly man carrying a crossbow. Motioning quickly, he and his men signaled them, and the two groups cautiously converged near a large oak tree.
"Thank Sigmar we found you!" cried out on of the stragglers. "We need to get out of here. Are you from Marienburg?"
"Aye," replied the Captain. "And if you're from that village, you need to come with us. We need to know all we can about these coastal raids."
"Agreed," the large man with the crossbow said. "And if you're hiring, I'd like to sign on. I've got some payback to dish out..."

A hard fought game all around, and despite the large number of models taken out of action, the Orcs only lost their single goblin fanatic, and in exchange, one of their lads got promoted! The Reiklanders only lost a single archer, but managed to roll three-of-a-kind 3's and were able to replace him handily. One of the heroes also was mighty sore about being taken Out of Action by the Orc Shaman, and now Hates him! The Vampire only lost 2 zombies, but managed to salvage a bow from the remains. Word is still out on the Dwarfs though (guy had to leave before we could work out Serious Injuries on all 4 of his heroes! Ouch).

GREAT REPORTS & PHOTOS! Keep 'em coming!

Despite the hiatus last week, our campaign took a big surge this week with six players battling it out!! The Dark elves are beginning to wrap up their raids and head back with numerous slaves in tow. A big reason for this is the immense success of two Orc Warbands that seem unstoppable! However, not all things have been going the Greenskin's way...

Our first battle pitted the Dark Elves against Scott's mob of Orcs in a narrow corridor trail, with a solid rock wall on one side, and a steep drop on the other. With limited shooting and no patience to find another way around, the Orcs charged full in. Unfortunately, the sheer number of repeater crossbow volleys made their going difficult indeed. After suffering numerous casualties, the Orcs were forced to retreat, and their Shaman lost an eye to one of the Elf bolts.

Luke's Dwarfs ended up challenging the Reiklanders for the honor of facing down the Undead forces that have been harrying the allied flanks. Despite some fierce fighting from both sides, the Reiklander marksmen with crossbows managed to turn the tide, and drove off the dwarfs. Two dwarf henchmen lost their lives in the process, and their captain has sworn ultimate vengeance against the Reiklander captain. (He rolled "Bitter Emnity" for his injury roll. Grudges abound!)

After a short rest, the Reiklanders managed to pick up the Undead's trail.

The Vampire and Ghouls charge in. The ensuing carnage left one henchmen knocked down by a ghoul, and the Vampire tears out the throat of another!

Despite several failed fear tests (I rolled 9's for 4 tests!) The Reiklanders stave off the ferocious attacks of the Vampire. In all, he took out two Heroes and a Henchman before being skewered by the Crossbow shots from the Hero marksman.

With the Vampire down and several ghouls OoA from Crossbow fire, the Necromancer and the remaining undead beat a hasty retreat. In the end, we both ended up with heroes "Robbed", and made a deal to exchange gear with no further bloodshed. The Vampire also rolled "Bitter Emnity" against the Marksman that brought him down. Both warbands lost members though, with the Undead losing a Dreg, and the Reiklanders losing the Henchman that the Vampire first took OoA.

Baron Langrissier hissed as his aid pulled the last of the crossbow bolts from his chest. The wounds would heal, as they always did, but he needed more blood to speed up the process. "What news of Jaego?" he asked the Necromancer, who entered the small room of the ruined building his warband had re-purposed as a crypt.
"Just brought him in," replied the sorcerer. "Bolt to the gut. He's alive, but won't be for long. Should I make preparations to find his replacement?"
"Yes, but first bring him here. Needs must, you know," said the Vampire, as the Necromancer nodded silently. The wounded man was brought before him, and the Necromancer shut the door behind him as he left his patron to feed in peace. Two old sayings came to his mind as he tried to ignore the screams. The first was, "Waste not, want not". The other was, "Better you than me".

The Reiklanders gathered in a close group around the dying man. Trenton had been a loyal fighting man; one who had been with them from the start. His mirth and jokes around the campfires had helped ease the hardships that they had all faced together. The Vampire had set itself upon him, sinking it's fangs into his neck, and knocking both Hans and Marcus unconscious as they tried to rescue their comrade. The others managed to recover, but for Trenton, there would be no such luck. Captain Von Kriegstadt knelt beside the young man and took his hand. The man's throat was torn, and though he could no longer speak, his face told all of them he knew his fate. After a few more moments, his eyes rolled over, and he was no more. Silently, the Captain rose. "Kurt, you know what to do."
Nodding, the burly man raised his giant sword, and brought the tip savagely down, skewering the dead man's chest. With another mighty chop, he severed the head as the others who did not turn away watched in grim silence.
"Remember this all of you," said the captain to the survivors. "There are many things worse than death out here, and I would expect you all do do the same for me. Kailan, prepare a funeral pyre. We will drink to his memory tonight."
As the group separated, the Captain pulled Roth aside. The marksman had impressed him today. Without his accuracy in bringing down that thing, many more of his men might have been killed. He put his hand on the young man's shoulder. "I heard that creature cursing as it fled, Roth. Seems he'll be looking for revenge. You certainly know how to make an impression."

Other battles saw a group of High Elves driving off a small group of cultists, and the Undead regrouped to face off against the Orcs, but with no clear winner on either side. Next week will prove to be just as exciting, as the Reiklanders will finally corner the Dark Elves, and the Undead will square off against the Dwarfs. Scott's Orcs will also face off against the High Elves as the allied forces hope to turn the tide against their aggressors!

Sometimes you have strange alliances n your multiplayer battles, but the most important thing is that you have fun.

We normally do not play with alliances in our multiplayer battles, you could try ot too, it needs some more time but then troll slayer won't fight together with vampires.

I am looking forward to your next reports.

We do have some interesting battles when we have alliances, and the players always seem to enjoy them the most out of all the battles so far. Yeah, it does go against fluff with some of the alliances, but I kinda look at it like desperate cooperation in dire situations. Been having a lot of fun coming up with the narratives after each battle though, even if some are a bit disjointed. Glad you like them!

Hey Brian, nice battle reports, its me. Boyos, (aka Scott)

Me and mah boyz ov da, Purple Jaw Clan, wanted to chime in on our last scrap'n wit' da dark elves. Dem punny soft skins showed up right as we were on a treasure hunt. Me and mah boyz split up da middle while I sent da gobos to the right to search the houses. As we scavenged da buildings dem elfs went prancing around up the center road. Thin'en wez gonna get a good hand to hand fight, I charge up da middle and get in good position to assault dem. Of course 'hem elfs pull out there bows and start shooting d'air sticks at us again. I picked up one and shot it back with my big cross bow. I order my gobos to fire from da house they were hideing in. None of them could hit the skinny pinkies. A few of my boyz got into a fist fight while da gobos cursed the ground they walked on. As two of the gobos went down in a hail of arrows.

I den relized da boys I sent off to da left were over dare still trying to figure out how to not be seen. Of course dem boys are yelling da whole time. Da shaman zap-a-snot fired out 5 large bolts from his nose hurting the main elf leader, but his shinny armor was just too strong. My two big 'uns charged the leader, of course ol O'ter can't controll him self, (some dem hummies think that's a bad thing Haha) with his great choppa. He went in swinging and got knocked out, 'ary the other big'un got shot up before making it into the fight. Da squishy elf chose to stab poor O'ter instead of fighting me head on. Before he knew what hit him Zap-a-snot took an arrow to the knee, Da gobos inspired by his bellowing war cry charged in. As I then called out the elf leader to a fight, he ducked down under my axes and triped me on my back, course wit' my chest wound that knocked the wind outta Meh. The boys saw me fall and retreated, but as they were running I saw two boyz yelling to stay in da fight.

Da bad news was zap-a-snot got left behing and da Damn elfs beat the poor boy down, with an arrow in his knee and already missing 'is right eye they wounded him up and stuck I'm back in da pits, but before he went out to fight they kicked dirt in hiz eye, I once had a blind shammy work for me when I was a we git, and well he killed a few boyz from not knowing where to shoot. So I left him in da pits. Since I saw two of dem boys wanting a fight I went ahead and promoted them both, was gonna make dem fight it out, but since we had room for both I keep dem both around. My big'uns went ahead and painted dar jaws up in honor of zap-a-snot, I made da rule anyone with five killz or payz me twenty teef can now paint 'are jaws too.

Not at all! Love hearing more info about our battles, since I can only be so many places at one time! Sorry to hear about your Shaman, though. Hopefully his replacement will have better luck, and besides, having TWO boyz promoted is always a good thing!

Sorry to hear about your shaman. Orc shamans seem born with a 'kill me' sticker. I rarely end the campaign with the same shaman who started.

Very nice reports! I also love the whole idea of your campaign, a Dark Elf incursion seems like a lot of "fun" How many Dark Elf warbands are participating in your campaign, or is it just the one against a horde of mercenaries that really love too kill each other before they meet the actual foe?

More like the second. I had first intended on each of us having a Dark Elf Warband as well as another one to represent both sides, but it didn't pan out that way, since most of us don't have many elf models at all except for one of us, and he's mainly playing his Orcs now. I'm still getting used to how a campaign works, and there's plenty of stuff that we'll want to polish in the future for other campaigns. Still, the idea of a central narrative is my goal, and so far we've got some really characterful warbands, so the stories I come up with after each battle is not as hard as I would have thought. Again, glad you guys enjoy them!

So me and da boyz went out for a quick look arround, when them Damn elfs showed up again!!! Me seeing them early enough time to prepare for an ambush. Damn elfs tryed to lure us into a narrow passage again. But with cunning planning we had a skirmish in the field. My two new boys were geared up and ready, with our cross bows. I have my gobos and a big'un head to the right, while the boys slowly pushed up the field trying to stay in cover.

We got a few shots out with our cross bows, silly hix went charging forward with the big'un instead of shooting.


The skinny elf leader charged up and knocked down hix, while the elfs shot up the big'un and, toothless.


The stinking elfs stood back and took down the other big'un that was leading the goblin flank. The goblins took a shot at an elf and missed, so I yelled, "Aww you Damn gitz, ill show you how its done," me and gunter shot 3 shots up at the elf, and he dodge and flexed around them. Hix stood back up and contiuned to trade blows with the elf, but no one managed a wound.

I'm not to sure what happened next but out of nowear a shot came and hit me taking me out of action.

The boys tell me the dark elfs charged in on the big'in and toothless and took them out.


The remaining boys cut there losses and made a break for it.

Also had a fight aginst Travis undead ill post pics on it later.

So,me and da boys, were heading back to our main base camp, we came across a nice set of 2 wyrd stone on our walk back. not counting the 5 I found during the fight with the damn darkies! When all of the suddon, I spot across the field the large undead force, lead by an blood crazed vampire! Gunter, "Look dar boss, just across the river is dem undeads! I say we take out there zombies and skellys looks like dar boss has 2 stones on him, we take is and have double our lootz!" So we toook up position just to the north west of the undead, as they came cross on us from the south east. (chance encounter)


So the undead start to push up to the river. me gobos unload a quick set of shots at a zombie, but not a one could hit anything, One over there started cusing up a storm haha! dumb gits! My boy over there crossed the river to make an advance in on the zombie. Just then the undead moved up the hill one of there dregs and a ghoul. I ordered my boys to hold back some untill they got a bit closer. as me Gunter, and Hix took some more shots out on them. One of us, Prob me, took out a zombie. Da Big'uns move up the south west side of a building to get an encounter on there main ghoul and vampire. The vampire got the charge off on 'ary his double chest wounds just cand hold him up! vampire went blood crazed and took him to the ground and out. (Has a toughness of 3 max! haha! from -2 chest wounds but still hass 3 wounds vampire one pumpd him to the ground haha! poor big'un)

Now dat the zombies have advanced the gobos took some shots at the dredg up on the hill, and took him out! The git had a shard on him! so I orderd the goblins to get over dar and get it! One of my boyz heard someone say he was a week git and he charged forward but the little guy actually got too scared to charge the zombies haha! what a sissy! my big'un O'ter shocked by the blood mist the vampire just left on ol 'ary just stood there shocked! or in fear, me hopes it was not fear! of course the vampire got the charge on him then and took him out too! The other hero ghoul flanked up with the vampire now we had some problems! Me hix and Gunter took shots at the ghoul so we could swamp the vampire! I was the only one out of 5 shots to get a hit on the ghoul right between the eyes! (haha my one shot while ethe other 2 had 2 shots each, my one shot crited and double wounded the ghoul he had 3 wounds.) Da boys charged on in on them zombies. and took out another. now the undead leader had to order his minions to stay in and fight.

The little ghoul up on the hill took the wyrd stone before I could get there, and a nice melee happend up in the middle taking out a few more skellys and zombies.


Dat nasty vampire got the charge on Gunter but didnt take him out, gunter got a hit on him but didnt do enough to him, I charged in on the vampire and hix jumped on the ghoul seeing it was weekend! ready for a nice hard scrap! the vampire took out ol Gunter so I wanted to avenge him! a good scrap happend but we couldnt get a hit on th ghoul or the vampire. Even with all his losses the vampire still had his men stick in. Ony good thing about them undead there not scared to die like a boy gets some times!


Da ghoul took out Hix, and the vampire had me knocked on my back, when he landed a knock out blow on me. Good ol toothless tryed to rally the boys and push up da hill but da boys just dont trust him like da trust me and made a break for it!


Out of all our wounds my big'un O'ter learned the most from the battle, and I lost an eye! Nothing important, None of the boys died so that was good, Wish I had the fortitude that the vampires warband had! My boys all ways run from combat bunch of scarey cats, me thinks im gonna have to hold the food from dem boys this week! see if they will fight harder with a rumble in there bellys!

all in all I had the vampire roll 4 test to stay in the fight and my firsts one haha I fail! of course I was on LD 7 at the time haha! rolled an 11. Was a realy bloody fight I took out a zombie a turn but his necro keep rezing up a one each turn. so keep my boys from getting in on him.

As his Reiklanders took up defensive positions amidst the rubble of ruined buildings, Captain Werner von Kriegstadt muttered to himself, "Bad omens all around." The reports he had been hearing from his employers were not encouraging. The roving bands of Orcs and Undead in the area were bad enough, and now their primary quarry, a Dark Elf raiding party, had reportedly entered this region, and it was up to him and his men to stop them. There was something else going on here besides slaving raids, but all he had were suspicions at the moment. The people of the local villages had all made their way to Marienburg, and were emptied, but still the Dark Elves plagued this area. The question was, why?
"Captain, I see them!" cried out Roth, his chief marksman. "Coming up from the far end of these ruins. Looks like they're headed this way, and they have an Ogre with them!"
"Defensive positions!" cried out the Captain, as his men formed as strong a skirmish line as they could. "Let's hope we can turn them back," he said as he loaded his dueling pistols.

With a "Breakthrough" scenario rolled, the Reiklanders set up to recieve their opponents.[img][/img]

Meanwhile, the Dark Elves, with their new Ogre Hired Sword, set up to charge through.[img][/img]

The Dark Elf ranged troops with repeater crossbows take up heightened positions to shoot from the windows, and rain down shot after shot on the Reiklander marksmen!

The mounted Dark Elf captain and the Ogre lead the charge. The Ogre suffered a wound from the Reiklander Captain's pistols as one of the Reiklander Champions steps in to intercept the Ogre's charge! A halberdier feels the wrath of the Dark Elf Captain's blade!

Though he suffered a wound in the process, the brave Champion hits a vital spot on the Ogre, stunning it!

Predictably, the halberdier is no match for the Dark Elf leader, and is taken Out of Action.[img][/img]

After finishing off the downed Ogre, the Dark Elf Captain is then charged by FOUR of the Reiklanders! Despite their best efforts, the Reiklanders failed to wound the heavily-armored Elf, and having suffered 4 more losses due to repeater crossbow fire, the Reiklanders beat a grudging retreat.

Back at the camp, the Reiklander Captain cursed himself. Despite his best efforts, the Dark Elves had still managed to break through, and drive him off. What were they looking for? There were no more settlements in that direction for miles, and he knew they would not risk moving in so far from the coast. His ruminations were interrupted as Kailan and Roth entered his tent, accompanied by a scruffy-looking old man, obviously some kind of hedge mage. His robes were tattered and adorned with various animal bones, and his he wore a skull-shaped headdress. "This... gentleman wishes to speak to you Captain," stated Kailan, with a mistrustful look in his eye.
"Very well," replied von Kriegstadt. "Have the stragglers made it back yet?"
"Aye," said Roth. "All alive and accounted for."
"Thank Sigmar for small favors. Go on and get yourselves something to eat," as he motioned for the old man to come closer. With worried glances to each other, the two young warriors exited the tent.
"You seek answers to what our enemies are up to, yes?" asked the Warlock, taking a seat as the Captain nodded in reply. "I can bear witness to what it is the Dark Elves seek, and for a mere thirty crowns, I can lead you and your men to it."
Tossing a coin purse on the table next to the old man, Captain von Kriegstadt exhaled heavily. "As you wish old man. Now, tell me what you know."


Tonight's match was hard fought, but cut short (time constraints forced me to voluntarily rout!). Even still, tonight's battles were a lot of fun, though Boyos' Orcs just can't seem to catch a break! Next week promises for even more carnage as we all square off for a massive six-player brawl, with every man for himself! This will definitely be a high-risk, high reward battle, and one we'll all be talking about for a while.

My Dark elves know how to dodge like pros it seems. Having not yet tasted defeat they may be getting arrogant.


Meanwhile my Orcs also without loss (Though if you ask Grommie those damned rats being his equals in a battle was a huge loss) Wonder who these elves those other orcs are talking about!

Commander Uriah Blackblade, from atop his jet-black steed, surveyed the ruined acropolis. The Giant was here, and having sated its' appetite on half a flock of sheep and two barrels of ale, it slept. More importantly, the bag around its' neck still gave out an eerie light blue glow. The amulet had to be inside! Now was the time to strike, though as he directed his Corsairs to take up advance positions in some of the taller ruins, he began to notice the other forces that had also come to claim the prize. The fool Reiklanders he had bested last time were here, as well as the Greenskins and Undead. Even a pair of cultist warbands, eager for glory and bloodlust in the name of their foul patron gods, had shown up with claims for the treasure. He smiled with unfettered arrogance. "Let them come," he whispered to himself. "Not while the amulet is so close. None of these brutes shall have it, not while I live." As one, the elves, accompanied by the trio of mercenaries they had recently hired, made a steady approach to their goal. It was going to be a bloody day.

With all six of our regulars showing up today, it was time to reveal the setup... One small bit of advice: DON'T WAKE THE GIANT!!
The goal is the bag of loot worn around the sleeping giant's neck, which contains the scenario objective. Each warband must try to either sneak up and steal the bag, or having failed that, kill the giant and claim the prize. Easier said than done...

Having won initiative, Travis silently speeds his Vampire towards the Giant, confident that with its' Initiative of 6, he can safely steal the bag before anyone can get close!

Having the next turn, Bobby's Dark Elves quickly move up the Undead flank.

The Reiklanders move as fast as they can to take up better positions for their shooters.

Luke's Cultist warband boldly marches straight for the giant. In the hopes it will wake and rampage the other warbands, their lone archer takes a reckless shot, but fails to connect with the beast. The other warbands also close the gap, with no further incidents.[img][/img]

OUCH. Taking the hint from the cultists, Bobby pours all his repeater crossbow fire into the giant's area, though one stray shot hits one of his heroes in the back of the head, causing two wounds! It will indeed be a miracle if this henchmen lives out the day, as Dark Elves are not known for forgiveness...

Having taken a wound, the Giant awakes! Despite the Vampire's best efforts, the Giant smashes him into the ground, only to be counter-charged by the deranged cultists, hoping to wear down the wounded brute.

Predictably, the Giant takes out one of the Cultists, while the Necromancer directs his forces to go for one of the loot barrels!

Eager to get stuck in, the Orcs close the gap under fire from the Dark Elves.

Luke's Possessed warriors manage to knock down the Giant! Fortunately for everyone involved, no one was underneath it when it fell.

Logan's cultists move through the ruins in the hopes of ambushing the Reiklanders and cutting them off from the battle.

Seizing the opportunity, Travis sends all his forces to charge the downed Giant, and manage to take it out of the battle! In the interest of good sportsmanship, since the zombies could not gain XP from the huge kill, we decided to award it to his Necromancer, since he was the one directing the zombies! ("Sorry Travis, you CAN'T have a zombie Giant." <all groan>)

With the Giant out of the way, it becomes a mad scramble to get to the treasure from all sides!

AARGH! The Dark Elf captain manages to pick off the hated Reiklander Marksman Hero! The lad later died from his injuries... The Reiklanders also find themselves under fire from behind, as the hired Warlock the Cultists brought managed to stun one of the Halberdiers.

Despite some untimely animosity rolls, Scott's Orcs take to the center.

One of Luke's Bretheren, armed only with a Dagger, brings down one of Logan's Possessed in a single round of combat!

Hampered by terrain and even more animosity rolls, Scott's Orcs continue to press their advance.

Under fire from all sides, Luke's cultists are routed from the field and Bobby moves his Dark Elves in to claim the prize. Travis also takes a voluntary rout to minimize his losses.

The Pit Fighter is dispatched by Kailan, the Reiklander Swordsman Hero, as Scott's Orcs come barreling in! Note the one Orc atop the open roof, ready to do a diving charge on the Dark Elf Sorceress!

Rather than fight it out with the Greenskins, Bobby's Ogre with the loot bag turns and heads for his deployment zone. The Freelancer takes a Reiklander bolt to the chest, stunning him.

Captain von Kriegstadt and two of his henchmen face down the cultists. One is killed by his dueling pistols, and two more are stunned from crossbow fire.

The Reiklanders get set to take the fight to their enemies and chase down the amulet. Unfortunately, I roll an 11 for my break test! D'oh!!

Not one for secrecy or stealth, the Orc is shot before he can dive down to threaten the Sorceress. He is knocked down, but manages not to fall off the stairs.

The Orcs break. This leaves the Dark Elves to claim the rest of the treasures, and claim victory! Logan put up a valiant effort, but his cultists were too far away to stop the Elves.

Wow... what a match! With six players, a Giant, and a LOT of crazy happenings, this one proved to live up to the hype. My Reiklanders came out probably the worst, with the loss of my best Marksman and another of my Heroes getting a Leg Wound, reducing his Movement. Luke managed to level up all of his heroes. Travis's Vampire managed a "Madness" roll, but ended up with Stupidity as the result, much to his disappointment. Kudos to Logan, who had the lowest Warband Rating but managed to pull in a respectable second place! Scott managed to continue his tradition of getting his Boyz sold to the pits, however this time he won, and nearly doubled his take-home loot! However, with their prize claimed, the Dark Elves have now changed the course of this Campaign. The amulet is theirs, and who knows what horrors await the Marienburg defenders!

Uriah Blackblade could barely contain his glee, though he made no such appearance to his raiders. The battle had gone perfectly for him, with his enemies holding each other up as he plucked the treasure from their clutches. His forces had made good progress with the captives, though the city defenses would have been too much for them to handle. That would all change thanks to this victory. Now, with the power of the Amulet, his mission would finally be complete, and woe betide anyone who stood in his way...

Yeah I hit my 4 men down and failed my rout test too rolled a 10 on my warboss 9.
