Assorted heroes from the Empire and Chaos Wastes

Excellent use of the marauders' bodies - models that I tend to dislike. I have all 20 of them that came with the Chaos boxed set years ago, so I will give it a go inspired by your work.

You've got some FINE additions to the Forces of Unpleasantness there. For me the Wizard is a mixed bag; I really don't like the metal mask piece, which colors my opinion of what is otherwise a VERY nicely painted mini.
The Marauders look GREAT especially considering the time constraints in painting them up. The mind numbing drudgery of painting up massed units that basically are the same mini painted over & over again is something I don't miss at all. That aside, all the new pieces are VERY WELL DONE!

Well, after doing LOTS of the Marauders (though they weren't too bad!) I decided to do a more characterful model to lead them:



And for his opposite, I decided to go with a Knight of the Blazing Sun. I was inspired by the "Regiments of Renown" idea for creating a small group led by a notable character. I figured he's a disgraced knight looking for revenge and redemption, leading a small cadre of knights still loyal to him:

All three of the new minis are VERY WELL DONE! I particularly like the faces on the Wizard & the Blazing Suns Knight. GREAT WORK!

Great looking mini's

Got my hands on another Nurgle Lord not too long ago, and I'm REALLY happy with how he's turned out. I was trying out a new technique for necrotic flesh I'll use on some future zombies, and I'm pretty happy with the results.

That Nurgle skin looks ace!! How did you paint it?!

All the Lads turned out TERRIFIC especially the Nurgle Guy. The skin tones make the mini...very effective unhealthy appearance. VERY WELL DONE!

Thanks for the compliments guys!

The skin started with a base layer of a gray/green mix and then a heavy drybrush of Reikland Flesh. After it dried, I did a wash of Ogryn Flesh and added some gray to the center of the open buboes before the wash dried to get a good, layered mix. I also did a very light lining of purple around the open belly wound for a bruised effect.

I'm very happy you guys like them.

Going to a WFB Tournament in the morning, and thought I'd take a pic of the army I'm bringing. Wish me luck, since there's considerable store credit involved for the top 3 players, as well as for "Best Painted Battle Standard Bearer". Last count was 25 of us, so it's one of the bigger one's I've attended.

I'ts a 2000 point list. With around 40 Infantry, 2 chariots, a warshrine, and some Dragon Ogres PLUS a few powerful characters, I've definitely got "hammer" and "anvil" units.

Great to see the making of this awesome army and now seeing its gaming purpose!

I did have fun, but unfortunately ultimate victory went elsewhere. Have you ever had those games where you look at your army, and think, "These guys deserve WAY better than what the dice did for them"? Then again, the guy that ended up beating me in the last round ended up winning the whole thing, and I'm a big believer in the idea that there's no shame in being beaten by the best.

The surprising VIP's for most of my battles actually went to my small unit of Chosen, which, while outnumbered, managed to protect my flank from all manner of demonic beasties (Fleshhounds of Khorne and Demonic Furies), without suffering any casualties! (Starting each game with a Toughness bonus was a BIG help). Too bad the rest of the army didn't fare as well!

I also claim a personal moral victory in that I was able to beat a High Elf army led by Teclis in the second round. (HORRIBLE things is elves!).

Hej, i know what you´re talking about. Everytime i build up a warhammer army, be they undead, chaos or empire, i came to play with them against serialmom, long before i started to paint them, and every time but once or twice i lost to mommy. I also thought that those minis deserve better than to lose all the time because of my dice " Luck" or the far to cunning gaming style of mommy.And so, even before they reached the stage of painting i sold or traded them for something else, i simply couldn't field them again , the burden of shame weight to much on their shoulders, so, by by.
I really envy your way of looking at the whole thing, you know, getting beaten by the best, well, i always thought that i had to blame the minis.
Well, lets blame serialmom for everything, shall we?!

Had some extra bits lying around from Dark Elves, Wood Elves, and Free Company, so I decided to cobble together an Assassin! I wanted to give him the look of a far-off traveler that has come to the Accursed City to both hone his killing skills, and make some coin while doing it! I think he'll make a great sword-for-hire.





As always, I'm curious to see what you guys think of him.

He is a really cool conversion; AND the brushwork & color choices are OUTSTANDING...the purple & metallic gold work well together. GREAT WORK!

However, the chain mail, attractively painted as it is, kills the idea of a stealthy assassin for moi.

True about the mail skirt, but you know the saying about "what I had to work with,". lol. Maybe he stashes the skirt on stealth missions and dons it again right before a straight-up fight...

Been busy working on some other models: First off is an Engineer.  He's got a good Kislev look to him, and this sculpt is one of my favorites.


Next is a Dark Elf hero a friend of mine was wanting me to work on for him: 


And lastly is another Klocke lass from Reaper.  She's got a lot of personality I think, and I'm certain she'll fit right in with my Mercenaries.

I think your brushwork is showing a steady improvement. Of the three minis I like the Reaper Babe the best...GREAT job on her hair color. All in all, VERY WELL DONE! 


On a critical note: white & yellow don't work well together; i.e., they lack contrast. Perhaps because of this lack or not, in Heraldry white & yellow are metals &, as such, may not be used together unless separated by a border.
The other thing, which may just be the photos, is that the Babes facial skin colors seem lighter than the skin tones elsewhere on her body.  

I like the Reaper girl as well.  As you must since most of the photos show her. I remember her as a bounty hunter, not sure if that's true or just what I bought her for.
