The fact that even if I wanted to, I couldn't buy the collected TCs from GW.
I agree...another "Great Minds" moment.

| If you could buy them I never would have put them up in the first place. Before I found the PDFs I started searching GW, Ebay, and everywhere else to try and get physical copies of every single TC as we only had a couple. It's pretty much impossible to obtain them all unless you are very lucky and most likely very wealthy. | |

| I noticed that there are several up for auction now that those on tabletopgeeks have been taken down. Most are running $6.99-$19.99. | |

| i was lucky enough to download all the TC's the day before TTG had to take them down. unfortunately, some of them have missing pages. but still, some is better than none i guess. I also got the letters of the damned, that was a nice grab too. I just want to know why GW would bother forcing them to take down something that they no longer support or even sell? what's the point? just to be a-holes!? how could protecting brand integrity or profits be served by shutting down something that they no longer produce and barely even acknowledge? grr. | |

| It is annoying when they have no intention of collating them and selling them and they have no intention of adding to their own Mordheim downloads section.
If they did either one or the other I wouldn't mind at all - I'd be happy to pay GW for the priveledge of owning the TCs.

| Fortunately i downloaded the pdfs two years ago and printed my own Town Cryer books.
Maybe GW just want to reprint or rerelease Mordheim.
But I don't believe that they will reprint the TCs. I would buy them though.
This strategy would fit to the release of all these new buildings.
Maybe they sell enough buildings for Warhammer, that they think to also sell a lot Mordheim ruins after a republish.
But maybe all of my thoughts are fantasies, and they are just "bad" people.

| Think, if they lost their copyright and someone else picked it up and released a Mordheim game. Exact same or completely diferent; done well or maybe very lousy. GW might get a worse reputation that way.
Probably mostly they just want to keep their options open.
AND are too lazy to put the stuff on their own site. (No money in it.)
I seriously doubt they are doing it in advance of a re-release! Not enough money in it.

| Don't forget that there could be another reason that GW started cracking the whip of lawyers . Army bulder (and other people that pay liscensing fees) If I paid fees to a company and had a pay to use product I wouldn't want it for free anywhere . Yes I know that they don't fully support the game, but it's still economics . | |

| @Mr Bromley, Its greately appreciated. However Megaupload has been taken down by the US government so I can't acces your files. I just discovered that my entire backup with all the files previously hosted on the tabletop geek have been formated. Since my group is restarting I'm in dire need of these files again What was the Yahoo group which have the resources? *FOUND IT* thanks again! | |

| I have all the Town Cryers from the Best of Town Cryer and the independent releases from White Dwarf that started with TC7 through TC29. Not the PDFs but the hard copies in excellent condition. My question is if I were to plan on creating high quality PDFs of these (a bit of an undertaking) what would be the best way of going about it? Would there be an issue of copyright infringement? I have seen the quality of some of these circulating around and I would like to know if anyone feels it would be worth the effort. | |

| From what I know there would not be a problem with copy rights as long as your not selling the docs.
As to being worth the effort, that depends on the quality of the PDF's that are out there. if say TC10 is poor quality then I would say for that one it would be worth it but not the others.

| I think copyright would be infringed for the same reason that downloading movies via bit torrent infringes even though no money is exchanged. Protecting IP is as much about protecting potential loss of income as it is about stopping others making money off IP. Having stuff available for free limits the ability to sell that material. We know that they will never likely sell that stuff again but will that hold up in court?
Edit to fix typo.

| I believe, I if read it right, way back when; that you could make a copy of an original in which you own. Only to protect that original from damage. Which is why I scanned all my TC and Books to travel to table to table and not get my originals stolen of damaged. And its real handy, to carry a tablet pc or smart phone, than 10 to 20 pounds of books. | |

| I agree Shadowphx. I'm just not happy with some of the quality of the scans I have seen and would like to make a high res copy of my books. Any software suggestions? I've heard the best way to do proper scans would be to separate the pages of the book but I'm not all that interested in destroying my books to do so. High quality PDFs would be nice.

| I used a flatbed scanner, Adobe Acrobat, and I placed a black sheet of paper behind the page I was scanning. The black sheet is to remove the word/picture shadowing from the other side of the page. | |
