So I recently got a load of Mantic skeletons, to use in my games of WH Fantasy. However I find, as I build and paint them, that I'm thinking more and more about how they could be used in Mordheim. While I don't often get to play Mordheim, I've always had it in the back of my mind, resulting in it appearing in my fantasy army's background and I'm always wanting to bring it out and play a game.
Anyway, back on topic. I've been wondering if it seems reasonable to use my skeletons as Dregs?
Background-wise I like the idea that the vampiress has found a way to raise 'elite' skeletons, resulting in them having more independence of thought, but also explaining why only a couple appear in the warband.
Mechanics-wise, I have plenty of models with a wide variety of wargear, so it wouldn't be too difficult at all to swap models if I ever find myself changing the weapons loadout on the skeletons.
And of course, I love the models.

So, does that sound at all reasonable?

EDIT: Nearly forgot. Are there any resources that I might have missed that have rules for adding skeletons as a henchmen type? Because that could easily work too.

In the very first draft of mordheim (before it was released as a boxed game) undead warbands had skeleton champions insted of dregs... for fluff reasons (i think) they changed them to dregs... humans who could buy and sell stuff etc to regular mortals...

I wouldnt mind playing you using skeletons in sted of dregs but im easy like that Smile

I would not particularly mind either, although I think it might cause a lot of confusion on the field. The skeletons are most certainly fearsome and dead. Dregs are neither....

I too find it hard to find good models to count as dregs btw, so if that is the issue, I'm totally with you on that.

I would have to say I also wouldn't have a problem with it. I think the main thing is you would just have to make it clear to whom ever you were playing that is what you were doing.

I have always been a bit disapointed that undead didn't have any skeletons.

For my dregs on the undead warband I am making now, I really didn't like the goofy hunchback look GW has. I decided to go for a more gaunt / cultist look. I thought these http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gallery/skorne/units/praetorian-swordsmen fit the bill of psuedo vampy, and with a bit of conversion seemed to fit the bill.

These guys http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gallery/legion-of-everblight/units/spawning-vessel-acolyths were really my first choice, but they didn't have the pack I wanted when I bought my figures. I may still get them at a latter time.

I don't mind the hijack. I was just about to say the same thing.

I wouldn't have a probelm with you using skeletons, provided you were clear what they 'counted as'. I like the idea of skeletons in Mordheim but they seem to be relegated to hanging from posts and wheels!

Go for it! Anyone who disagrees is not successfully applying the 'Rule of Cool'!
