| I just absolutely love following the progress of your BTB project. It's all very imaginative, & the creativity in bringing it to life is SO COOL. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Even though the anticipation is killing, don't rush it [unless you feel like it ]. You can tell your group, if they don't play this scenario, they'll wind up on my Phooey List [insert gasps of horror here], or receive International Acclaim, if they do. Bravo on a fine piece of work! | |

| Here you are: The Horrors of the Underground scenarioBack on topic: I painted the bases of the statues with a mix of wall paint and sand. Spackling compound was used to fill holes and gaps. Additional styrofoam to make the top edge equal so that the lid fits on it: | |

| This piece is coming along so very well. You've got lots of little ledges, nooks, & crannies on the interior to stick cool stuff;i.e., skulls, candles, & spooky thingys like that. Are you going to make a removeable top piece or leave it open? Thanks for the link to the game. I had already checked it out [left another bit of wit & wisdom ], but now I can shoot right back & drool somemore [another specialty of us old farts]. You are the BEST!Well, okay you're tied with Tom, & Ashton, & Tortiouu, & a couple of other guys for BEST. You're in good company. | |

That's actually a very nice idea and I will do that. Thanks! - DeafNala wrote:

Yep. I made the top piece from styrofoam. Here they are after another layer of spackling compound: The statues' bases got some sand to fill gaps in the plastic bases and for the weathered and savaged appearance I am aiming for later. More coming soon!

| LOOKIN' GOOD! It really is a trip following the progress not just of this piece, but the whole board & all the different folk that wiill be killing each other to be here[ I love the Killer Panda from Hell.]. The top piece is perfect; it sets off the piece very nicely. I think [rarely] that the best part about terrain is that you have an open invitation to go back, make little embellishments, & modifications. It's something that never gets old or stale, but is constantly evolving. As always, I look forward to the next installment. | |

| NICE,very! Those must be the rock formations you used as background for you latest & greatest Monks. They really add a lot to the board; definitely adds a sense of bordering the Chaos Wastes. The WIP pics are thoughtful. You're a good lad [NOW get back to work ]. Addendum: Wow! I just noticed [slow on the up-take as usual] you added some nice, big deciduous trees to the board. LOOKIN' GOOD! | |

| wow man, that completed scenery right above is amazing! Do you find that having a portion of he board with snow and therefor matching barricades (and i'm assuming more in the future) limiting in terrain placement though? Or do you sometimes just not care and place them our of their element? | |

It really isn't much of a problem. Of course we prefer to place the snow-covered forest section somewhere near the snowy edge of the table and the other forest pieces on the other side. Game-wise it doesn't matter that much where you put which forest section. It is true that the barricades are on the snowy side thus creating a slightly more open area while the wooded side of the table is less open. That's how it is in reality. However this does give you some interesting strategic options, especially when choose on which side you want to start. This was also a reason why I even started with the rocky terrain. I began building the smallest of the rock terrain pieces because I wanted to have some "forest counterparts" to the snowy barricades. In the end it's almost the same. But especially in two-player games there is no problem since you can simply deploy the warbands on the left and right sides (see photo above) so that the snowy and wooded edges are on the sides thus creating equal initial situations for both players (I hope you get what I mean to say here). Lastly, there still are enough options and ways of placing the various scenery pieces to create a whole new environment each game. But that is not even that desirable because figuring out how to play best on a given board is in fact quite interesting as well, so placing some of the pieces similarly for different (or even the same) scenarios does give you a challenge as well.

| Back to the barrow! I built a gate to the crypt/barrow/thing from a Warhammer regiment base. The Chaos sign is from the Marauder box banner. I chose to paint the two statues now so I could access the minis more easily. The inner walls are also done but I'll keep that hidden until the entire piece is finished. Can't give it all away now. | |

| WOW! That's so different from how I'd pictured it would look; different as in EVEN NICER. I really like the way you did the moss/lichen covered statues. & the gate is just beautiful, especially the Skull thingy. That ROCKS, Chris. | |

| Good work cianty. I love how the doors are just like those ridiculously huge doors that only the most bad ass can open (good thing it's already open a tad ) I like how it's coming out. Are you going to end up basing this? *muhhahaah* | |

Well, you can already see the base on the pictures, so yes, I will. And I need to. Because the "hill" will be covered with grass, moss, depris etc and there should be a smooth transition to the ground. This is not a house with sharp walls that confine the piece.

hahaha.... mb... I guess the woodgrain made me that was just your desk. Oh yea, for this, with three separate sections too, I would definitely base it. I was just messing with you =]. lol

| It's been awhile but no, I did not gave up on this project. First off, here's a rather unspectecular shot of the base *Ashton's blood pressure's getting higher* with some sketches and lines for where the barrow/tomb is to be glued onto it. Alright now here's the tomb with some monstrous door openers that I made out of ornamentations from two of my girl-friend's shirts (yes, she is aware of it). Also you get a little sneak peek at the interior of the tomb. I added a few more pieces of hardfoam for a more rocky appearance. Lastly, here is the barrow in the current state, waiting for basecoating, additional stones, debris and vegetation. This is the last WIP post so the next one will be about the finished piece. | |

The cavern is also starting to take shape. Eagerly awaiting finished pics. _________________

| is that speckle or something you covered it in? curious to know as its worth stealing to cover some of mine in On topic the mound slooking awesome, you should add some huge piece of wood style lock whihc was broken, like the wooden bar castles had which went across the gates to keep them closed. Have it cracked in 2 on the floor or such _________________ | |
