| So I have been reading a lot about different techniques for foam, blueboard etc. when it comes to making buildings. So I thought I would give it a try. This building was made with scrap cardboard, foamcore that I got from the .99 store, scrap blue foam, and a little bit of concrete patch. I was trying to see how a building would come out by just "drawing" on the details. I gave it a quick base coat to get a better idea of how it might look finished. How I made it: I cut two identical templates out one from cardboad, and one from foamcore that had the paper on one side pulled off. I then cut out the window bars from thin card and sandwitched it between the cardboard and foamcore. Much in the same way that Wolfgang made his buildings for his Mordheim board, only I used the cardboard instead of wood, and foamcore instead of bluefoam. (This was before I found Blue Foam Heaven!) I found the biggest problem is "pushing down" the wall sections around the timber detail to try and make the timber "pop" out a bit more. I am sure this has much to do with the quality of the foamcore aka foamboard I used. The .99 store had a ton of 2' x 3' sheets. I couldn't pass up. Ideally I would like the timbers to be more pronounced. I made this building in less than an hour (It is a simple ruin however) but I really like the speed, cost and look so far. I would like to know what you guys think, of if you have any suggestions. Below are pictures of my Test model. | |

| it's front is superb!!! However, the interior could use a small dot of paint, it looks like a wooden floor but it is white/blue-ish. | |

Oh, its not finished. As I mentioned this was more of a test model for materials and technique. I will paint it up and post the finished product. | |
