| I am looking for the store that has the cheapest GW models. Note store on-line or off-line but not ebay I am living in Sweden so shipping might be expensive to me but it would be good with a list of stores that carry GW minatures under the GW retail price http://www.games-workshop.com The price that would most easily be compared is the Empire Free Company box in GBP its currently going for £20.50 + shipping Free shipping to the UK i think. Cheapest i have found so far. https://www.maelstromgames.co.uk£18.45 Empire Militia. Free shipping (to EU i think) | |

| If Maelstrom are offering free shipping to Europe, I doubt you'll find cheaper overall. Dark Sphere have better prices, but shipping might outweigh any savings. http://www.darksphere.co.uk/index.php | |

| Well it wasn't really meant as a tip. I just casually happened to share this bit of interesting information... What people choose to do with it is none of my concern The fact that this company (supposedly) makes great copies of GW miniatures and sells them at incredibly good prices serves GW right. They have long stopped trying to improve their products (other than miniature cast and scultp quality) and focused solely on selling new kids as many starter packs as possible. Abandoning Specialist Games in particular shows that GW has really abandoned the do-it-yourself hobby aspect, in order to maximise profit (perhaps understandably) from best-selling ranges only. I just feel bad about the designers and artists at GW who produce the originals. But at these prices... One would be tempted to place an order or two at Yoymart... you know, for science _________________ | |

This thread is on the verge of escalating into a falme war on piracy of miniatures. My apologies, this was not intended.

| Thanks for the "review". While I would feel a little bad if I ordered all my stuff there, it might be a good alternative to get minis that are hard to come by, like Event-only minis or OOP-stuff (the prices on ebay for the bearhandler from the empire-civilians are simply insane...) | |

| Actually miniature piracy; i.e., producing copies of manufacturer's minis & selling them at greatly reduced prices, has a long if somewhat shady, depending on your point of view, history. Stadden's & Suren's minis in 54mm & 30mm were very popular with wargamers when I was new to gaming many years ago; like G.W. & other, they had priced themselves out of the reach of most Guys requiring large numbers for their games. Dr. Bussler, Mike Vogel, Stan Johannsen, et al solved the problem by producing copies at about 20% of the price of the originals. The makers of the overpriced pieces did not receive much sympathy from their alienated customer. "Hoisted in their own petard" I believe is the term applied. | |

| No matter what you think of GW... I am extremely disappointed to see this forum support piracy now. | |

| G.W. isn't & hasn't been the only miniatures maker to be pirated. I mentioned two others, & there are more to be sure. If you must choice between giving up the hobby or buying some pirated minis, how would you go? | |

Choosing Chinese copies over originals because you want to save money has nothing to do with the choice of giving up the hobby. Also in this case it's not even about acquiring OOP models - the only argument I would find acceptable.

| I couldn't stay in the hobby if I had to pay G.W's, or Wyrd's, or Hasslefree's, or quite a number of other manufactures idea of what a 28 mm miniature should cost. This isn't a question of saving money; it is a question of whether you can afford to be in the hobby at all. Before you start condemning other folks on the forum, I would look at what you would do if you weren't so well off financially...most of us can't afford to have our miniatures professionally painted either.
Personally, I don't buy pirated miniatures. Rather I just find miniatures made to my taste by companies that I can afford.

| I'm not normally a fan of pirated minis; I don't like the prices, but think it's more fair to buy less and still get them from those who put in the work. However, that site has quite a few OOP models that can't be gotten from GW anymore. For such cases I'm okay with recasts. | |

| Sorry, NoisyAssassin! I seem to have dragged the thread off the subject with the piracy discussion. What we were supposed to be talking about was inexpensive sources of G.W. stuff. Back on topic, the War Store offer G.W. products at a reduced price...somewhere between 10% to 20%: http://www.thewarstore.com/Due to G.W's restriction on selling their products at a reduced price on-line, you have to ask for a price quote. It's a fairly painless process. | |

| I wander if they make the slight mistakes on purpose so they can say they are not exact copies of the GW models and therefore not actually copy righting. Would make an interesting loop hole.
As for someone complaining about not supporting GW due to priacy, playing a GW game while using non gw models, isnt really supporting GW either. Very frowned apon with GW. And yet still seen here a lot. Just a thought.
Still laughing at the name though ''yoymart''....lol

| I don't think the Chinese courts would hear a I.P. case or a patent/copyright one for that matter. I'm planning on restricting my miniature painting to G.W. products as soon as they announce the next G.W. sponsored Mordheim Tournament. | |

Tom said something about deformities in some of the models. The more complex ones. Just was thinking if they could had been done on purpose. I have heard stories of knock off artists doing that sothat can say the product (shoes, purses) isn't an exact copy and therefore can sell them without breaking the copyright law.
