| In this place i will show the (probably slow) progress i will make when I start working on my norse warband. Indeed, I have'nt begun yet, but hopefully i'll get some second hand marauders from a friend friday, so I can work on them during the next week when I have no school (yippie). But here's something I recently made. It is in the proces of being painted now. Meet Grimwold Falkenheim : The model is made almost entirely with the Empire Milita box, with 2 little extras from the Tau Kroot box and some putty work.

| I moved your topic to the painting and modelling section, because gallery is for finished warbands, and this looks a bit like a WIP looks very promising! can't wait to see more though he doesn't look very norse IMHO. and what's the thing that you are using as a base ? keep up the good work! _________________ ..and by a roll of the dice you go under..

They do, it's color coded names on the boards. Darker brownish color for Admins, and greyish colored names for Mods. The rest of us are in yellow for out usernames. back to the topic: nice GS work on the model. Are those Iron Shod Boots???

| Haha Tom, that's exactly what I was thinking. How can you miss this?
On topic, the base is an old GW colour bottle lid. Are you actually going to use it as a base or did you just sculpt it for... whatever reason?
Nice miniature! And great sculpting on the Comet!
However, I think a more traditional witch hunter hat would look even better!

| about the boots: yep, they have iron tips now about the hat: i know, but i tought i'd better stop while it was still looking acceptable and yes, the base is an old paint bottle lid. I like them as bases for special models (for show, not for gaming). I hadn't switched to mordheim yet when I made this fellow, and i don't play empire, hence the special base (the tiles are also greenstuff). but he isn't attached yet, so i can still put him on a regular base. | |

| A FINEexample of a unique but not-over-the-top mini made from a mix of various parts & a bit of GSing. COOL hat; I like the floppy hat & the Comet device for ready profession identification. AND he certainly looks prepared for whatever those Foul Heretics can throw at him. WELL DONE! Looking forward to the painted up mini & the promised Norse guys. | |

| Well, usually steel caps go inside the boot. Depending on the boot, they are (Skinhead combat boots(correct term?)) or are not hinted (safety shoes) at.
But as the term in Mordheim is "iron shod boots" it appears that the steel caps are just put on the outside of the boot (much like with Orc boots).

| question: i've been going through some topics, and i sometimes come across a marauder warband. Is this the same as a norse warband or is it an other list? because i haven't seen it before.. | |

It's a different list, immediately above the Norse warband list on the BTB site. The proper title is Marauders of Chaos [pdf]

| I was also thinking about doing a Norse Warband, when I came across these old figures still boxed up in my stockpile of figures to one day be painted. http://oz.games-workshop.com/games/warhammer/dogsofwar/catalog/bearmen.htmI think they are discontinued figures though, I can't find them on the US site. (Image hosted on my own site, not GWs) They more or less look the same, but a few easy weapon swaps and you could mix them up a bit. Not to mention that they have the Wolfen figure too! You know what ..I might just convert up a few for the heck of it! | |

| Yeah, the Bearmen of Urslo are discontinued sadly. I used Beorg Bearstruck as the Ulfwerenar in my Norse warband as he looks fairly wolfy. | |

| I need some help from you guys with my warband list. I've made one, but I don't know if it's any good; i've never really played Mordheim before. Well, here it is: Jarl: axe, sword, light armour, helmet: 115 wulfen; 90 bondsman: shield, sword; 30 bondsman: shield, axe; 25 berserker (2X): flail; 2 x 65 hunter (2X): bow, shield; 2 x 40 2 wolves; 2 x 15 if it can get a free dagger, it has it. so, what do you think? probably something dreadful :p i'd love to hear your constructive criticism! | |

| More than likely, you will get responses like this:
First - You should post this in the Starting Warbands thread, to get it listed properly.
Secondly - Light armor and shields are forwned upon by most people. They aren't worth it in most instances. You can easily replace the shields for second weapons on most models. For the leader/jarl, replace light armor with bow or upgrading your henchmen with hand weapons to go with those bows.
Just my two groats though...

| PFT: The Jarl can't have a bow. Alcaeus: Dropping the light armour on the Jarl and the shields from the Hunters will get you 2 more wolves. You will find the high speed useful for supporting the Ulfwerenar. Plus additional numbers never hurt. | |

| Pictures! All still WIPs though. First up are my wolves. I modified some Goblin Wolf Rider wolves so they would have different poses. The last one still needs some work. Next up, my huntsmen. These are simple conversions using the Chaos Marauder sprue and Tomb King Skeletons' bows and quivers. They aren't quite finished yet (some greenstuff work etc...) And last (for now), my first berserker. This one was made by cutting up a chaos warrior torso and knees. I sculpted a bare muscular toso on top of it. The knees will be painted as bare legs. The flail and arms are straight from the Marauder sprue. The helmet is from the Chaos Warrior sprue with the horns cut off. IT still needs a lot of (greenstuff) work. I'll edit the post later so you can see the pictures here, but imageshack doesn't seem to be working...^ EDIT: i just made a photobucket account, so the pics are here for all to see | |

| Wow, those wolf conversions are awesome (I have to do that to mine, too!). It gives them a very alive feeling.
As the arms appear not to be glued down yet, is there any chance of seeing an unobstructed shot of the torso? I'd be quite interested.
