I think dipping itself is not that big a problem. Somewhere on this forum, somebody showed some models done with army painter, too. He dipped them and then shook off the excess army painter by rotating the mini on top a screwdriver/drill.

Oh, I completely forgot to comment on the mini. It's hard to make out a great difference, as the first pic is a bit on the blurry side, the second on the dark one Wink However, it looks a little glossy after the dip. Perhaps due to the large amount of dip?

it is a mix of varnish and shading... sorry for crappy picture Embarassed

so it might be either too much or just the varnish element... not sure.. confused

Well, here is a tutorial on army painter:
https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/tutorials-and-articles-f18/tutorial-using-fanatic-army-painter-t753.htm#10526

And here's a thread with army painter dipped miniatures:
https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/miniatures-f2/alexbware-s-miniatures-t751.htm

They don't really look glossy, so I suppose it's the varnish. Anyway, you might want to have a look at these threads in order to perhaps not have to rescue your mini after the next treat with army painter Wink

Yeah I can't really see a massive difference myself but that might just be the quality of the photos, it's definitely added a bit of depth to the little guy though. I think I mostly just don't like the idea of dipping models because it detracts a bit from the amount one puts into the painting (I don't have a massive army to paint though so I would say that!). It's a good paint job though mate, very crisp which is what you want from the Tau!

So let's see the rest of your army! Where are the Kroot and Devilfish? Very Happy

Also have you seen this bad boy from ForgeWorld? It's the biggest model they've released!

It turned out REALLY nicely. You MIGHT want to consider painting up somemore AFTER your Mordheim Warbands are completed, that is.Suspect thumbsup
