| NOT MOI! I AM HORRIBLE [retarded ] at video games. Plus my three sons are WoW addicts, SO....an additional game might put the P.C. into a Critcal Mass situation! | |

'Fantasy WARGAMING' is with the minis, This is a Fantasy MMORPG, so that should go to Gerneral Shouting (correct me if I'm wrong though) _________________ ..and by a roll of the dice you go under..

| Be where it may... I'm not going to play... (or at least, my superold computer won't allow me... and there is now Mac version anyway... so I'm thorougly screwed on this one...
would lead to lack of time for projects anyway.

I loose too much time to Play Station games - I can't spare anymore for MORGS ( hehehe - sounds like a good name for an Orc!). It would mean less time for real wargames for me!

| I don't think I will either as I feel it would take away from Mordheim and other activities. | |

| I personally will be, there arent any players in my area for Mordheim or otherwise, so when i dont feel like driving an hour i'll just play WAR. | |

| If DAoC is anything to go by in terms of lost time, then Warhammer Online will just sap too much of it. | |

| Video games, purportedly, increase one's attention span. I can attest to this: my three [supposedly ] adult sons, when not at work or asleep, will be found playing War Craft. It Does keep me from spending my WHOLE day here; so their addiction Does have redeemable qualities . | |

| I probably am going to play it. The Open Beta opens this sunday, and I have an Open Beta key! Hopefully the game is as awesome as I imagined it would be.. my wallet would think the exact opposite though.. (If my wallet is able to have a mind on it's own.. ) And no, I'm not a fan of WoW.. played the trial once.. most boring game ever! If WAR is going to be the same; I think that will state that I don't like MMORPG's.. Cheers | |

| In fact, I might play it, too. I haven't played a PC game for ages (or so it seems at least) but this may get me. I love the cinematic trailer sooo much. I'm really excited about this. Unfortunately my Laptop is not likely to be capable of it so I'll have to see what happens though. | |

| Moved thread to general shouting. I won't play it either. I agree with Matt, DeafNala, Ezekiel, DaBank, WBK and Tagnator. Although I can understand the fascination for MMORPGs, it's not really something I indulge into, due to lack of time and interest. I have tried WoW too when they released this 1 week test thingy for download, and I remember feeling a little bored while playing it. Why? Because for me all MMORPGs work on what I call the "Tamagochi effect". When I was 10, the school yard hype was to have a "Tamagochi". A little egg-shaped japanese toy, with a tiny black and white quarz screen and four tiny buttons. This mini-console was running a program day and night with a little fantasy manga creature, simulating its needs. So children had to feed it, bathe it, clean it, put it to sleep, "entertain" it etc... and thus the little virtual creature would grow. If you did not take care of it, it would eventually get sick and die. The ultimate kick however was to connect 2 Tamagochis and to have them fight each other. For me MMORPGs are basically (unfortunatly) the same. You "tamagochi-up" your character and then you go into PvP (or Coop gaming). So the sole "purpose" of the game is to "pimp one's character by small quantum steps" and get a kick out of having a strong character, like having a big car. Only virtually. I think this is actually anathema to the definition of "ROLE PLAYING" game. In MMORPGs you don't play a role. You just control a 3D Tamagochi that "feeds" (on XP points), gets stronger and fights other tamagochis. Sure, there are so called quests. But let's be honest, they all revolve around "get object X" and "kill monster Y" or, more elaborately "get n objects of type X" and "kill n monsters of type Y". I think ideally a roleplaying game should favour diverse and original actions over combat. So ideally it should be about interesting interactions with other players. That's why I liked Fallout and Vampire: Bloodlines so much, because they allowed (interesting) quest solving in many many different ways, both violent and non-violent. But of course, I do also realise that this would be extremely hard to implement into a WoW or W:AR type MMORPG. I think that these games have a right of existence and one should enjoy the graphics and the special effects, but it stops there. It's only the "RPG" part in their names that bothers me, because in reality they offer no "RPing" in-game. Aswell as the fact that they are so time consuming and cost money every month instead of only once (which is necessary for running development, I know). All this being said, I am still interested to hear what you beta testers think of the game. Since Warhammer is all about the fight, MAYBE they can pull off a really enjoyable game... Sorry for the rant and thanks for your time if you read it this far Enjoy your day! _________________ | |

| I must admit I DO REALLY enjoy watching WoW over one of my son's shoulders: the scenery is SPECTACULAR, the PCs are VERY COOL, AND it makes my sons NERVOUS! While all of Tom's reasons for not playing ring true for moi, THE MAJOR REASON, to be truthful, is put a conroller in my hands & I turn into a TOTAL spastic. | |

| I played a ftp mmorpg and after about 4months I was crack adicted and ranked #1 in gear, pvp and level. It turned into the biggest wank ever and I uninstalled the game cos it ruined my life (for those 4 months anyways). Sure it was fun, but I just cant justify the money to play nor the amount of time I would play on it. |

HAHAHAHA Marvelous rant my friend. I'm not going to lie: I'm a game obsesser. It really doesn't matter the game as long as there is a "game" (rules, rewards and obstacles) I can get super obsessed. It really is pretty ridiculous. I once spent 24 hours on a vacation at my cousins playing a crapy diablo1 copy except crappier... I don't even know what was wrong with me *slap* If I wasn't so stingy, I would have spent all my money and time playing WOW (but my friend sold his WOW account that I was playing on without telling me... thank goodness)

| I just couldnt start another MMo, I'm far to competative and any ranking would mean i'd hardcore it like I did in wow. I'm that bad that anyone who knows the old ranks will instantly know when I say I achieved rank 14. aka 3 months of playing 15 hours a day with a dedicated team in pvp. (small bost: I was the first tauren out of all the tauren possible classes on our realm to get a rank 14, and i think 3rd warrior to achieve it) insert a small year break which i played Everquest 2 and built up my Berserker which used to be a guardian, collected all the master quality skills and took over main tanking for a guild.. (Getting a pattern here?) I then got readdicted to WoW and coming back late in arena season 2 I geared up in the crap blue L70 pvp high warlords set and worked up to a very respectable 2263ish 2v2 rating by the end of season 3.. not bad considering i'd missed 2 seasons and had no gear to begin with. But i wa sthat competative i kept helping others less capable get to higher rating just to handicap myself more The reason why i came back just to get a high rating... because i thougth I could put the other people to shame and beat them... damn my competativeness. Its a huge time sink to be competative... i just dont want another one. _________________ | |

| Judging from the sheer amount of time those folks I know who play WoW spend hunched over their PCs, I think something more like a Twelve Step Program ala A.A. might be in order. | |
