Scurvy Dogs (Pirates - now with RIVER STRIGANY!)

Below the last pirate I made last week:

So... after the pirates did quite good as Marienburgers last weekend, I decided I'd work on them some more to increase the crew...

First, the guy from above with a proper spyglass and a new sword, as well as another gunner (I just had to at least paint one of the EMpire models from 6th edition starter box...)





I also wanted to do a second crew of pirates at some point, and as plain old pirates seemed boring, and the upcoming Marienburg setting quite intriguing, I had a little chat with werekin and can now present you the WIPs of River Strigany Pirates!

The Domnu (Leader) - he gets bonus for fighting unarmed, so unarmed he is. I'm still not 100% sure about the legs, need to rummage a little more through my bitsbox.


Next, the Petru (Mystic) - with mystic staff with charms on it:


Then, the Tinker (merchant) - he's got a ton of gear and lots of charms, too:

It's their second day of WIP, but I hope to have them PIP by next week. C&C as always welcome

VERY COOL new additions. I like the Domnu's posturing pose...it almost looks like he's about to go into one of those wild Cossack dance routines.

Hehe, thanks Deaf! I just finished the warband. Unfortunately, the internet is currently only half working at my place so I can't upload any pictures (including the last battlereport from Amsterdam), so I can't show the rest of the crew and the finished conversions... I did however change the legs of the domnu, as he is supposed to be a fearsome captain and not a drunk kossak dancer (perhaps I'll do one of them in the future, though not to soon as sculpting the posture is quite a pain)...

Nice work on your strigany! I like the way your leader folds his arms; I would call him " Lord of the dance " !

Love the River Pirates! Very interesting warband concept, so they're basically Kislevite Pirates who roam the River Reik? I'm very curious about the other warbands from Mutiny in Marienburg as well..

Looking forward to see them painted, obviously.

Well, basically, they're homeless people from Strigoi who cry that their Vampire lords degenerated and roam the old world as gypsies, with some trying to increase their income by other means (at least mine do... a circus that cuts your purse while you're watching their show)

Painting is progressing, I should manage to finish at least some models by next weekend.

What do you mean by water caravan, Pfreck? If you mean their ship, it's just gonna be a small rectangular river barge with a swivel gun or two, a couple of tents on the deck, some luggage and perhaps a cabin at the rear. However, as I will soon move to my limited-hobby-capacity student's place, this will likely have to wait untill it's summertime again.

Hopefully, I'll have some time to write a few stories about them as well

Definitely getting the vibe from these Exiles of Strigos...

While I am sad to see the caravan-master is no longer dancing a traditional Strigany jig, he does look way more likely to bear-hug a sozzled Norseman into submission during a barfight.

Thanks for the comments! The ship is pretty cool, though a little big for a river caravan, I think. And I've got to finish the Violet Tendencies before, too...

And perhaps I'll do a dancing domnu special miniature for the release party of the supplement

VERY COOL looking Band of Rogues...the Dead Eyes jug is a FINE touch. The Group Mug Shot is really cool/evocative. VERY WELL DONE!
The W.I.P. Guys will be very impressive, in character additions to the Troupe.

Great progress, love the Dead Eyes. The patterns are very cool, very subtle but still adds a bit of flavour to them.
The Illusionist somehow reminds me of Sacha, the perverted Magician!
