Strigany River Pirates

On my birthday last year, Werekin presented me with some funky rules in order to use Strigany river pirates in Mordheim. This warband has been inspired from the Fantasy novel Ancient Blood. If you haven't read it, I strongly suggest you give it a go!

I've finally got a little collection of models going and thought I'd post some early WIP pics... all questions and comments are very welcome.

My favourite henchmen... pirate powder monkey... of doom! For fair line of sight during games I've got him standing on a barrel


Gotta have a dwarf pirate Hired Sword...


One last gypsie girl with a boat hook. Does anyone know if this is a Citadel mini? I was told it was Ral Partha, but need to know if they were anything to do with Citadel??

Ral Partha never had any connection to GW except that some sculptors worked for both companies (like Chris Fitzpatrick.)

While the black undercoat does make it a tad difficult for my old eyes to pick out details, what I can see looks VERY COOL & promising. Have FUN with the painting!

A COOL mini is cool no matter who makes it; & Ral Partha was making cool minis before there was a Citadel/G.W..

love that monkey have one in my bitsboz too, just waiting for the right thing to use him for!

Love the drong model too! One of my all time favourites (and one of my fist models, when I started out back in the days)!

t's really interesting to see how differently we approach the warbands To give him a more fantasy feel, you could perhaps add some of the Bretonnian equipment, they got all kinds of dead animals, beetroot and pouches which look very Mordheim-ish

I just saw a few painted River Strigany for the first time this week. Very impressed with the conversions.

In case it's not already obvious, I am partially to blame for the use of sci-fi miniatures in the conversions! I procured a few special items for geekgirl. And you'll see more genre-crossing conversions in Marienburg when I begin posting my Heroes quite soon.

Looking at the Domnu again, I think Eliazar is right in saying he is looking like he needs another small accessory or two to really set him off, although that eye-patch, the big knife stashed down his pants, and his bum-belt are a groovy start.

Only thing that makes him look guard-like for me is the dog-tag. Surely you wanna chip the corners with a craft-knife and repaint this to become a wyrdstone pendulum/pendant. It's all about the Power of the Stones!

Oh, and where's his lucky rabbits foot got to!!?

IMPRESSIVE looking Pirate Dude! With the I.G. look may be the rest of your crew won't notice if you slip in a heavy stub gun. VERY NICELY DONE!

It's doable But I wonder if anyone is ever going to top five pistols on one model

Anyway, I think the wyrdstone pendant instead of a dog tag is a very good idea! And very special.

on topic... really like a different approach here then I would have thought up... they look more fightingminded which I really like... curious as to what you'll come up with for the added details and accessories

Next up is the mystic or Petru to the Strigany... I had fun painting this one today. I'm pleased with how her cloak came out but it looks a little pants on the camera, so just thought I's show you the front!



As before, I really value any comments you guys may have. I have taken on board the last feedback I had and I'm currently looking out for various gypsy / pirate themed accessories to add to these models. I recently spotted a Bretonnian snail...!

The Boat Hook Babe & her Sorceress Amigo turned out TERRIFIC...your flesh tones are EXCELLENT. My only critique is that for Gypsies you might go for more vibrant colors. Other than that VERY WELL DONE!

+1 vibrant color. Especially for gypsy PIRATES!

The evil cleric is a blast from the past, nice work on her. My eyes are too dim to spot the disappointment with the cloak.
