A Nautical Variant of Defend the Find

From the Saga of the Toss Their Hair Tribe
On the nineteenth day of the Month of Blue Monkeys, Freya, the Servant of the Serpent, did lead the Tribe to the Steading of Drunk Hairy Men.
Wise Freya took a ship from the Drunk Men. A good ship with a sound hull and sails of good cloth. Drunk Men left no guard on the ship! Drunk Men fools.
The Heretic Whip Girl Tribe try to claim ship. Old Whip Woman say ship belong to god of Whip Girl Tribe. Freya show Whip Girls the power of the Sun! Two Whip Girls die. The rest scream and run away.
Freya brings much wealth and honor to the Tribe.

Pushy Whip Girls move in a mob.

A blast from Freya's Sun Staff kills two and stuns one. The Whip Girl right flank is leveled by the fleeing crowd.

Post Battle
The Sisters ran as soon as they could, complaining bitterly about lucky shots and stupid unruly crowds.

Pressgang!
The Orcs, Pyrates and Undead battle for scarce swabs.

The Undead struck first, sending giant Dire Wolves to fetch the unfortunate drunks.

Pyrates approached from the east.

Orcs infest the ruins to the west.

The crowd reacts poorly to undead wolves running amok.

The Orcs advance unopposed.

The wolves turn their attention to the Pyrates.

Chad wrote:
I'll be starting over. The crowd was very unfriendly to me and Jim's wolves ate me up.
To add insult to injury a 'cute little monkey' event stole a Cat O Nine Tails from the Mate.

The Orcs eventually met the Undead. The Orc Boss loses an eye.

My Vampire got 1 player character OoA and 3 drunken townsmen. A random monkey followed me and brought me a Cat-o-nine tails. He then decided he liked me and decided to stay with my warband. I won the match. While searching for loot I found a chest which contained a smelly set of hardened leather armor. I'm undead, what do I care about a bad smell.

Rock the Boat
The Sisters try again, versus the Purple Duke's Undead

The Purple Duke and his ghoulish court.

The Sisters gather to storm another ship.

The Purple Duke charges!

Post Battle
The Undead fled when the Duke went down before a flurry of holy hammers and whips. The Duke lost an eye to a Steel Whip.

Another Pressgang!
The Sisters, Dark Elves and Dwarfs search another part of Torktuga for drunken swabs.

The Sisters bring Sigmar's grace to oblivious Torktugans.  (Many of the Drunks were represented by extra Dark Elves.)

The Sisters cleanse the Angry Squig.

The heathen do not come to Sigmar meekly.

Chris, who represents the only evil warband on the table, rolls the event Shore Patrol.  The Patrol immediately ally with the Sisters.

The melee moves to the back alley behind the Angry Squig.

The Sisters confront the Dwarfs.

Dwarfs attempt to subdue a belligerent elf.

Dark Elves!

Defending a ruined tower against the Patrol.

The Shore Patrol moves to surround the tower as Marksmen provide covering fire.

Post Battle
Whoever collects the most drunks before the store closes wins a Pressgang scenario (thank you to StyrofoamKing for including that rule.)  The Sisters' temperance lessons bear fruit.

A Harbor Skirmish
The Undead Attack a Moored Amazon ship at night.

From the Saga of the Toss Their Hair Tribe
On the nineteenth day of the Month of Blue Monkeys, Freya, the Servant of the Serpent, did lead the Tribe to the Steading of Drunk Hairy Men.  Freya decide to stay the night on the new ship.  Freya not fool like Drunk Hairy Men.  Freya would guard the ship well.
Darkness fell.  A wolf howled from the hills.  Freya rose crew.  Wolf not in hills, wolf coming here!

Thera the Eagle and Lorna the Huntress launch the ship's boat to patrol the harbor.  Disaster!  The boat is swamped by huge wave! (Event: Rough Seas)

As the Tribe lowered ropes from the ship, Lorna was attacked by a shark!  Thera swam to her aid!  Both heroes disappear beneath the roiling waves!  Freya can do nothing but save the other warriors. The wolf howls again.  It is closer.

Servants of evil massed in the darkness.  Freya could not see them, but she felt their presence all the same.  The crew rushed to guard the landing.

"Beware! Fell things walk the night!" screamed Modon.  Then her screams lost coherence.  Finally they stopped all together.  A decayed wolf bounded out of the night.  A knight with burning eyes followed.  Twisted things gibbered in their wake.  The tribe was attacked!

Ketta the Jaguar smote the dread knight.  His followers swarmed toward the warrior, but did not press their attack after the Tribe retreated to their ship.  Modon and Lorna recovered from their ordeal, but brave Thera was lost.

Post Battle
Thera the Eagle was drowned.  All other warriors recovered from their wounds.  Cara the Archer was promoted for downing the Vampire with her dagger so that Ketta could strike the mortal blow.
The Toss Their Hair Tribe--3 CP (+1 Leader Out of Action, +1 Dead Outlander)

Elijah got his first victory, but lost the Purple Duke.  Thera was raised as a zombie by the necromancer.  The Duke's court must play one game without him. But the undead are furiously plotting the revenge they can wreak with a Claw of the Old Ones...
Elijah wrote:
My necromancer is trying to scrape up enough wyrdstone to power an unholy resurrection! (aka 'buying a new vampire', but whatever.)

Sundayheim--Fancy Meetin' YOU 'ere!

JimB--Undead
Von Kurst--Wastelander Privateers (Sartosa)

The sailor squinted at the apparition rushing through the frightened crowd toward him. It was a bloody big doggie! Seemed angry. Though with half its face gone like that, it was probably hard for it not to seem angry. Gillie couldn't think for the life of him what he had done to the thing. Must have killed it once.
It was sort of falling apart, perhaps he had killed it twice. There was no time for another drink, so Gillie flipped the bottle over to catch it by the neck. He'd almost drawn his dagger when the thing lunged at him. Somehow the huge jaws missed him. Gillie flailed away with the knife and bottle, but how do you hurt a dead doggie?
Folks around him were screaming and rushing about. No help there. One of the bastards tripped him! Gillie lost his hold on the dagger but kept the bottle as he fell. There was nothing in it, but one has to have standards.
Gillie tried to get the bottle between himself and the slashing jaws. But now there were two of them! Gillie had never seen two giant dead dogs before, no matter how much grog he drank. He wondered which one was real? Then the giant jaws closed on his throat. That one then, was his last thought.

Post Battle
The wolves got 2 crew and the gunner. Ulrica the cabin girl was overcome by the acid rain before the Wastelanders packed it in. The Wastelanders lost one crew and the gunner. Ulrica fully recovered. Exploration yielded a crate with some hardtack and a drunken swabbie.
Wastelnaders--1 CP

The undead suffered horribly from the acid rain. Two zombies, a wolf, the ghoul and the necromancer when OoA. (Good thing because crossbow bolts weren't doing it.) Only a zombie was destroyed by the unnatural rain, although the necromancer now hates it. The Undead found a parrot and a swab with loose lips who's careless talk will gain them an extra die for their next Exploration.

Last Orders in Torktuga
The Dark Elves and Sartosans II break up the Blow Hole

Not much to tell mate,  those Druchi walked in like they owned the place.  Elves rub most pirates wrong.  That lot from Naggaroth, though, they are pure poison.  Some tar said something.  Somebody threw a punch.  Then bad things happened real fast to those poor tars from Sartosa.

Decisions during set up...

A Treasure Hunt in Port Sigmar
The Dwarfs face the Purple Duke's gang

Todd wrote:
Prior to playing my first game, I rolled up my advancements for my heroes and henchmen who'd earned them. The only one of note was a Dwarf Clansman who got upgraded to a Hero and a +1 T stat increase. I opted not to spend any gold yet.

I only got one game in, which was against Elijah. It was a really fun game and I think we both learned a lot about the rules and house rules we might not have otherwise encountered. The scenario we played was a "Treasure Hunt" that was originally going to be a three player game. Since the treasures were already set up, we just went with it.

First couple of turns were slow going just gathering the treasures that were available and easy to reach (mostly for the Undead warband than the Dwarfs).

In fact, one of the treasures was in a place impossible for a Dwarf to reach without going all the way back and around the board. The Dwarfs were hoping for some support from the city guard to help kick the Undead out of Port Sigmar, but they never arrived.

One building holding a treasure collapsed for some unknown reason, making it a simple task for a Ghoul to claim the treasure that had been on the top floor.

One of my Clansman with a Hammer grabbed one treasure while Elija's Zombie and two Ghouls ended up with the ones they gathered. The one model that got taken out of action was, you guessed it: the Clansman with the treasure, netting me 0 treasures at the end of the game. Once the Dwarfs were able to catch up to the Undead warband, they made no qualms about their intent to rid the town of the vile members of the group. One thing you can count on with Dwarfs charging through the dark, though, is that at the worst time a good number of them will trip over themselves in their excitement. In one round four charges were declared and three Dwarfs hit the dirt.

After the Dwarfs got their attacks in, though, the Undead had lost three members and decided to "live" to fight another day, giving the Dwarfs a victory.

After the battle, no one ultimately dies from being taken out of action and all of the Dwarf heroes became eligible for advancements where a few got skills and others received Initiative increases. The warband netted another 98 gp to add to their coffers. They'll be looking to add some new weapons and armor before the next skirmish, perhaps even a new member or two as well.

The Court of the Purple Duke reports that the Duke has successfully been returned to un-life.

Pressgangs of Torktuga
From the Saga of the Toss Their Hair Tribe
On the twenty sixth day of the Month of Blue Monkeys, Freya, the Servant of the Serpent, led the Tribe on a night raid into the Steading of the Drunk Hairy Men.
Freya knew that the Hairy Men would all be drunk by moon rise.  The Tribe would have easy pickings of the hapless Hairy Men.  Alas the foul Druchi also raided the steading.  The haughty ones would not share and were in such numbers that the Tribe was nearly overwhelmed.  Only Lorna was able to capture a Hairy Man.  Modon, Cara and a Panther Warrior were wounded.  The Tribe fled.

Endless waves of Dark Elves pour out of the little grog shack.

Modon holds the bridge for now.

Post Battle
The Tribe suffered 3 OoA, but lost no one.  They were able to sell the drunk for 7 gold, took his sword and opened a crate of food (which also yielded garlic).  A scout is recruited and real Lucky Charms purchased.

The Dark Elves suffered no losses at all as each Amazon who could see an elf was immediately dispatched.  They captured 2 drunks, found an exotic fire arm (which they sold) and generally continued to be insufferably rich.

The Governor’s Daughter
A Piratical Variation of The Lost Prince(ss)

The Most Esteemed Fraulien Gertrude Eloise Erma von Hausen was extremely vexed and confused.  It had seemed such a LARK to journey back to forbidden Torktuga.  Don Sebastian, that noble Tilean Captain, was so DIVERTING on her previous visit.  Father was always threatening to wipe the place out, but somehow he had never quite got round to it.  He was ever so BUSY, being GOVERNOR and all.

Unfortunately, no one had seen the notorious Don Sebastian since Daddy had sent that squadron of Men o' War after him.  A PITY really.  Gertrude sighed deeply.  She hoped this dirty little town would not be BORING.

Gertrude looked about for her maids and attendants.  Wherever could they have GONE? Surely with what happened the LAST time (and the time before that and the time before that) they could not have gone off and LEFT her AGAIN!?  Gertrude tried to remember where they had said they had gone the last time...  The Governor's daughter stamped her dainty foot.  She turned about slowly.  A thoroughly WRETCHED creature reached a clawed hand toward her.  Gertrude shrank back, but something held her in place.  She was STUCK!  Her outer skirts were caught on something.  Gertrude wanted to tear herself loose, but silk was so dear here in the Colonies.

"Missus?" Gertrude heard a voice.  Kind of a piping little voice, but masculine.  She looked about the crowd.  EVERYONE was ignoring her!

"Missus Gertrude?"  There was that voice again!  The voice KNEW her name!  Gertrude looked up.

"Down here Missus!" Whatever she was caught on tugged at her outer skirt.  Gertrude looked down.  Down in to deep brown eyes...

"We must be going Missus!  THEY are coming for you, and you would not want to meet THEM Missus Gertrude."

The youngster spoke to her.  He was quite DAPPER, all dressed in black with a STYLISH tall hat that he swept off gracefully as he released her skirt and bowed.  Gertrude presented her hand.  The urchin grasped it and PULLED her quickly through the crowd.  Gertrude was about to protest when the lad was struck by LIGHTNING!

His hand was torn from her grasp as the poor fellow was blasted off his feet. There were screams!  Someone PUSHED Gertrude to the side.  People were rushing to and fro.  Gertie had seen this happen before...

The Puddin Pyrates' thief grabs Gertie and legs it for the west table edge.  The Sisters are in hot pursuit.  The Amazons are mostly spectators.

Ham Solo and the Puddin Pyrates...

Van Halfling is blasted off his feet by Freya's Sun Staff.  Fortunately Gertie caught his mug and plate as he fell.

The panicked crowd wreaks havoc on Ham Solo and his boys.  Chewie stands like a rock.

The Sisters Fanaticus surge forward.  The crowd trips a few of them...

Freya, Bunny and Lorna try to pin Puddins down.

Post Battle
The Sisters broke in the storm of arrows and energy weapon blasts.

Good to see that the halflings are off to a strong start.

Gary was a bit dubious about the furry foots, but I think he is coming to appreciate them.

The Adventures of Ham Solo--Episode One: Last Orders

Gary wrote:
Prologue:
A short time ago, at a gaming table not too far away, the epic adventures of a Young Ham Solo begins. What started as a dispute over a bar tab, quickly escalated to a fight about a badly timed Yo Mama Joke involving blowfish and a golf club. Soon the fight engulfed the sea side tavern faster than halfling on a hot pocket.

It began as Ham Solo groggily got to his feet after being hit with a beer bottle and to his horror his Ogre Bodyguard Fryer was nowhere to be found. At his side was his loyal personal chef, Billy the Butcher. and one of the Scout lads facing down 3 of the ugliest land lubbers this side of Torktuga. Ham, being the ever courageous (and most inebriated) decides to dive off the banister onto the back of one of the limey bastards. Ham over shoot his jump and instead lands on the dining room table, and directly in a pot of delicious wild bean soup. Being "stunned" in a pot of bean soup has it's advantages, as when Ham finally roles over and is back on his hairy hobbit feet.

While Ham recovers, (and of course has a sample or three) Billy is busy taking on two hooligans bare handed, laying into them and singing a jolly dirge about a barmaid and a banister.

Upstairs they hear a giant thud, and Fryer seems to have awoken. Fryer and 3 of his mates including Robin Da Bagels are surrounded by 5 men. The situation would be grim, but Fryer seems to think he can handle them. What Fryer doesn't realize is that 4 of the 5 had smuggled daggers, and one of the Scouts had been kicked out for trying to smuggle a Charcuterie knife. It doesn't matter however as Fryer bashes 2 of them to the ground and then begins to pummel the third. Robin quickly breaks a beer bottle and goes for the pirate captains throat, but misses and tumbles to the floor.

Back down stairs Ham has recovered and has a wee nip from his flask to wake him up. He charges across the dinner table and grabs a turkey leg with which to smash one of the smelly bastards. Upon his arrival he realizes that Billy has already done most of the bashing, and in a sweeping fashion Ham jams the broken turkey bone into the humans thigh, and quickly takes him out of action.

Fryer, after taking on 3 humans begins heading for the pirate captain. It was at this point the moral of the humans failed, and they decided that taking on crazy Halfling Pirates might be a bad idea, let alone the INFAMOUS Pudding Pirates of Pineapple Pier. The halfling celebrate their win with a round of potatoes and beer, and immediately hire on two War Pigs that they found in the kitchen, Bacon and Bratwurst.

The halfling leave the bar, celebrating their victory and hear something remarkably familiar. A princess yelling and screaming "HELP!". Ham hears her, and orders his lads to go Save the Princess! As his cousin Mario would have it no other way.

"...and generally continued to be insufferably rich."

Just read through the whole campaign report up to this point, and the above is clearly the best one-liner. Keep up the entertaining reports!

Amazons versus the Wolfpack Undead

From the Saga of the Toss Their Hair Tribe
Before moon rise on the third day of the Moon of The Red Herring, Freya, the Servant of the Serpent, kept watch off the Scorpion Coast. Fell beings sailed the sea. Howls could be heard echoing across the waves. Freya roused the tribe, yet all were taken by surprise when a Thunder Wagon boomed and the ship lurched from a strike to the hull.

Freya steered toward the sound of the Thunder. A black ship loomed out of the night. Red eyed fiends rode the waves toward the Tribe. Freya met the black ship bow to bow. The heroes of the Tribe sprang across the decks. Hera the Eagle, Lorna the Huntress and Bunny the Slayer cut through the lesser fiends that faced them. The undead cried in dismay. Then disaster struck. Ketta the Jaguar was overcome by blood lust. She flung herself over the rail in an attempt to jump the gap between the ships. Ketta was nearly crushed by the two hulls. Then Hera fell before a clawed Eater of the Dead. The fiends pressed forward, led by a pale man with glowing eyes bearing a shining sword.

Ketta spears Larry the Dreg. Hera, Bunny and Lorna carve a path through the wolves.

The end is near. Ketta fails to leap between decks. Hera is OoA. The Vampire is coming.

No one dies, but Ketta suffers Madness and rolls Stupidity. The Tribe returns to the Heart of Darkness to trade, but finds no Claw of the Old Ones. A scout is hired.
The Toss Their Hair Tribe--1 CP

The Undead win. Two dire wolves are destroyed along with Drake the Necromancer who drowned or perhaps got eaten by a shark. Larry is Hardened.
The Wolfpack Undead--4 CP (+2 Prizes taken)

Dark Elves attack the Puddin Pyrates

They was layin' off the coast waiting for us. Had themselves a stolen cog. But Ham had the weather gauge. Sailed right round 'em he did. Cog never could out sail a carak from Pinapple Pier!

The Dark Elves.

The Puddins. Bacon and Bratwurst are drifting aimlessly, having been put in the jolly boat to avoid random cannon balls.

Post Battle
The Puddins avoided the wallowing Dark Elf cog and escaped with their cargo of three treasures.

Dark Elfs--1 CP

Puddins--2 CP
