| hi all im new to the forums so im kinda making a hallo post and a question post in 1 lol anyways im done with the helloes now so on to the question... me (19 years old) and my older brother (27 years old) were sitting on night in my house.. all of our figures are in his appartment , but we really wanted to play so we found the rulebook online (GW released it on the web for free some time ago) and found our old lego and made some badass crews ... then we assembled a battlescene with a stranded pirateship and some other cool features... then we started playing and didnt stop for 3-4 days or something like that , and then we started to talk about building a pirate game over the mordheim rules. with a overland worldmap with traderoutes and tresure islands . being able to conquer cities and forts . with strange curses mystic legends amazing artifacts and lots of undead and stuff like that.. with cannon fire and ship battles and on land battles and leveling and upgradeble ships!!! IT WOULD BE AAAAWESOOOME!! so is there such a game or should i start writing the rules myself? | |

| Legends of the High Seas: Based on Legends of the Old West (which is a combination of the Lord of the Rings game rules and the Mordheim Experience and campaign system with Heroes and Henchmen), historical game (ie, no Undead Pirates or Sea Monsters), has the latest rules for ship battles, which are a substantial component of the rules set (a combination of the ship rules from Warhammer Ahoy! and the rules from the Warhammer General's Compendium).
Sartosa: A fan-made Mordheim expansion. Check out the respective thread in the rules section. If you have any ideas for a Mordheim naval setting, go there and have a look at what Styro and his parnters-in-crime have come up.

| Well, I finally have some pics on a (borrowed) camera of my Pirate/Sartosa table... I just need to download them!!!!
First of all, for either the short or long run, your best friend for a Pirate Mordheim group is: one or more blue, Dollar Store tableclothes. I picked up this trick from an old Man O War player. For a basic, jungle setting, cut out lagoons that stretch most of the board, or make long estuaries and rivers, and have the warbands island hop.
ADVANCED TABLE SETTINGS: I'll have a full PDF on this soon, but in the mean time, here's the nutshell: make 10-15 12" by 12" tiles out of Insulation Foam. In the USA, you can buy them at any hardware store for cheap; about $7 for a 3'x8' foot chunk. Cut it into 1'x1' squares, paint them... (If you want to get REALLY fancy, texture them... use lego bricks to make a "street" texture, or just glue sand on top and spray paint*). Put a blue sheet down for the board, and arrange the 1x1 tiles on top, to form a city, full of bridges, canals, ports, and the like. Build some rafts and boats to go with, and there you go!
*Spray Paint WILL melt styrofoam, so you have to put an initial coat of paint on by hand, or coat it in watered down wood glue... also pretty cheap, if you buy big.
LEGENDS OF THE HIGH SEAS: The cool thing is that it DOES include big battle and small battle stuff... the BAD news is that it uses the 'Legends' stats and cost rules. You have 5 stat warriors, equipment that doesn't coincide with Mordheim... not my recommendation if you're playing with a bunch of stuck-in-their-ways experienced Morddheimers.
WARHAMMER AHOY: DOES deal with Large ships, ramming and cannon battles, unlike the Sartosa set I worked on. SADLY, however, the last version of Ahoy I saw did not go as fully into BUYING or campaigning with large ships... so you just get a chance to fight with big ships, and hope it's an even match (they might have fixed this, or I might be off my goard). For casual gamers, though, it looks like a blast.

| Ahoy Matey! Welcome to the forums. On this thread you have a gathering of rogues that have sunk many a ship and sacked towns all over the Warhammer world. Yarr and all that! I would add the lead adventurers to your list of sites to browse for ideas to steal http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?board=16.0You might notice some familiar names once you get there and there are several links that will bounce you back here but its still worth the trip. Speaking of which cianty Redbeard's crew is very impressive. (Tom's paint work?) And Adm'rul Kurgan! Well met sir! As for my own ships Da Bank has posted links to the group I game with. Below I offer a link to my first ship, the OS Ferlangen-- http://www.flickr.com/photos/15769907@N07/1752131274/in/set-72157602707304517/(the reddish brown one with the sun on it's sails and it's guns run out) Fair Winds! js | |

| I was familiar with everything on this thread except the Sartosa site by Styrofoamking. Lost! I am lost! Must do a pirate theme campaign! Too many cool ideas!
[As an aside where are the Orc pirates?]
Hmm... maybe I require each warband to construct/convert a small ship...
Oh and again Tom great work on cianty's pirates!

Orc Pirates are cool enough without any special rules. I use the normal Orc and Goblin list with themed piratey models. And shout YAAARRR! a lot while playing.

| Von Kurst: If you haven't already, post the same link that you dropped in the Sartosa thread: the tiles and docks you and your group used were a huge inspiration to me, and I'd recommend them to anyone.
Orc Pirates: Eh, I offered Kurgan the chance to make an Orc Pirate warband, but he convinced me to the contrary. Although, in honor of him and his orcy pirates, I did include the Orc Captain/Goblin Swabbie Hired Sword pair.
