TKKultist's PIRATES! Pic Heavy

So here are some WIP shots of my pirates for the current Sartosa Campaign I am running with the kids at my highschool - currently we have 12 warbands competing in a weekly league format!

These models wont win me any golden demons but I am enjoying them and having fun just playing around - doing some quicker pieces.

Up first is the model that counts as my swivel gunner - he is a goblin from Bloodbowl. I just love the idea of him throwing various grenades and potentially blowing himself up! He is nearly finished.



Next is a crew member - in this case my ships cook



I am pleased with his face and the way his cleaver came out so i figure he is pretty much done too once i do some touch ups.



Another of my gunners - a drunken dwarf pirate still in the early stages though his skin is nearly done



Another crewman - this time my ships wheelman "Too Thin Jim" - check out those chisled features from a lifetime of braving and being exposed to the elements behind a ships wheel! I still have some significant clean up to do on the bone and am deciding between giving him a skull and xbones sheild (which I already have and would look good) or trying to make/find a small ships wheel to use as the sheild (which would further emphasise his role on crew..



I took the hat from the empire free company sprue and just modified and reshaped it until it fit just right and I am also pleased with the finish on his big old blade



Finally we have a photo of a few more of this Scurvy Crew entering into their initial basecoats!

Those are some great models. I like them a lot. My favourite is definately the cook. The hand on his apron is cool - I can imagine it being from a poor enemy who touched it while being slayed and cut to pieces.

I look forward to seeing more of your crew.

WOW! I LOVE the bomb goblin, he's cute (and EVVVIIL ) very good paint job on them, I wish you were my teacher, so I could play with/against your models

There's some great models with lots of character amongst the Frenzied Mob. Great use of the fisherman and drunk there. They fit with the ragtag pirate image well.

I LOVE the string of sausages around the Cook's neck; ACTUALLY he could double as the ship's Surgeon. Too Thin Jim is my favorite [I vote for the ship's wheel shield ]. The guy with the fish engulfing his head appeals to my more bizarre nature . I usually picture Pirates as colorful characters, so you choice of colors is a bit bland for moi. Other than that...LOOKIN' GOOD!

What are you going to do with the bases? I'm always torn between doing deck or beach myself.

I don't know how accessible they are of late, but when I built a ship's wheel, I used a wagon wheel. I think it went to the cannon from the OOOOOOOLD 'Battle Masters' game. (Actually I used that same cannon as my swivel gun... so you have a really beefy pirate carrying around a gun as big as him!)

But this is EXACTLY what I had in mind when I asked for pirates pics. Awesome!

Don't know how this thread slipped by me! I love the cook with the hand print! And too slim Jim I can definitely relate too (I'm one of those people who could eat an entire cow (except for the fact that I don't eat red meat) and still disappear when viewed from the side!)

Can't wait to see what you do with Lokhir, definitely one of my favourite models of all time!

Excellent pirates! The use of the frenzied mob is inspired, and I love Too Thin Jim's chiselled features. Nice!
