Maudeheim & Environs, Part III: Updated 10/29/24

Thanks, Gatlag. I am glad you like it. It has been a fine background in black & white for quite a few group photos. I am hoping it will be even more dramatic once it is in full color.
I did some repair work/refreshing on the two trees that act as end pieces from the Spooky Woods.
I got quite a bit done on the background trees & firmed up some color choices for the Tower.

The energy level is still high; SO I got some more painting done, AND I know where I am going color-wise:

The brushwork on The Twisted Tower Photo Stage is done other than touch ups when goofs are noticed. Next will be some detail work...this is the fun part.

Lots of stuff done or getting done. I finished the first bas Relief Mushroom & entourage, a Mushroom duet for one of my Nurses, AND I have three bases of Mushrooms & two rebased Trees ready for details plus some things not shown here.

Thanks, Gatlag. I am glad you like the new stuff. With the background Mushroom(s), I was trying to have them blend in & yet stand out . I guess I succeeded.

I managed to finish the Mushrooms & Trees this morning, take some photos, AND get the gift Mushrooms wrapped & ready to give to the nurses.
























Next post should be more detailing of the stage depending on how well my attention span holds against the shinies.

Thanks, Gatlag. I create things partly to satisfy a need to be creative & partly for the reactions I get from the completed pieces. They all seem to love the Mushrooms. The nurses at Son Matt's clinic all think I am adorable. For me that is success.

Not really exciting, but I prepped up a bunch of wooden bases today; i.e., glued floral foam sphere slices & covered with Woodland Scenics foam putty


Once the putty is dry, I will cover the tops with watered down tack glue & sand, paint them, & then they will be all set for whatever I want based, The wood discs are 40mm, 50mm, & a couple of 30mm.

Batch work for the greater good!

This is true. Getting the bases ready is one of those times that my factory experiences in mind numbing drudgery pays dividends. I finished adding a layer of glue & sand to them all just a little while ago. Next they get a coat of black & a dry brush of white.

The second & third of the bas relief background Mushrooms are in place. There will be a few final floral touches, possibly some foliage on the background trees, then the stage will be done:

While I am sure there will be some tweaking over time. the addition of The Moon & foliage renders the stage finished:








I took seven years to finally finish the stage. The feeling of relief is incredible...procrastination is not necessarily a bad thing.

Another great update! On the first pic, the orange fellow on the left is the one which strike me immediately, very nice colors! The trio on the right is also done very well!

The Trio has been awaiting bases for a while. I normally use the toadstools as a side kick to a larger one, but these three looked the same & looked like they were singing; SO they became a group.
These are the last Mushrooms I have sculpted. I will be doing more soon.

A nice choir indeed! I appreciate the vibrancy of your blues, pinks and purples as well! They're very striking, as always!
