| That's a great close up- it shows off the colours of the stone and wood which you have done perfectly. | |

| Wow, that's a really carefully and detailed carving. I love the painting of the stonework. HOW u did it? I'm looking for a nice style to paint stonework.
I would guess u: 1. primed white/ light grey
2. watered down some grey, red-brown-grey, beige, green paint and applied them on the white/ light grey basecoat? Blended them on the wall while beeing wet?
3. And used some dark-wash/ink for the deep parts of the stone?
4. u gave a gentle drybrush in white/ light grey?
Sorry, u hit the style of stonework, Im looking for. I need to tryout more.
Thanks for sharing, best wishes, welcome,
PJB | |

| First the colors I've used: Craftsmart "Tan" Craftsmart "Gray" Craftsmart "Golden Brown" Craftsmart "Suede" Craft smart "White" - primed with medium grey - to speed up the drying process I've used the warm air of a hair dryer between al te steps - basecoat is warm brown (Tan) - paint random stones with Gray and Golden brown. (about 50% of the stones) - drybrushing edges. First very subtle with Suede - then drybrush with White. Very subtle here too! Then a wash - first a base wash with black - then a wash with brown over some parts - a green wash for the bottom layer Hope this helps | |

| Yes it helps allot. I was kinda stick to black priming using allot of gray. U seem use allot brownish colours. And i could google the look of ur craftsmart colours. Like the tone of "suede" and "tan" I will try it, and post the result Thanks allot!!! | |

| Oh yes, that's beautiful stonework, both the carving & the painting -- but especially the painting. There's a subtle variety of colour which looks fantastic, & really gives texture to the stone. | |

| LOOKIN' GOOD! I carve out sunken paving stones also. The colors are splendid. I have found doing a base of black & a dry brush of whit yields the best results. | |

I have found doing a base of black & a dry brush of whit yields the best results. Yes I saw it in ur posts. I started to try it too. But it was devastating at first, cuz the drybrushed piece was looking better than the painted thing. I guess i need to try out some more. Thanks for ur tipps guys. | |
