| Hi Guys, Hopefully this is the right spot to post this and I tried searching and couldn't find anything quite like it. I'm looking to round out my Middenheimer and Ostlander warbands with their priests and am just looking for some inspiration on how the models could look. Some ideas for the Wolf Priest (google images) - Captain:
- Warrior Priest:
They are both wearing armour, but I do like both of the models. The warrior priest model is pretty tall, and I don't think he fits in the buildings. Another option could be to model a plastic mercenary with a hammer or two, but he would look like the henchmen that way. And my only idea so far for the Taal Priest (google images) - Hunter:
I'm not quite sure what a priest of Taal should look like so I thought this might be a creative way to use the cool model. Not sure if he fits with the vibe of the rest of the official Ostlander models tho. Maybe painted with a similar scheme it can look ok. What do you guys think? I thought this could be a good place to post pictures of your priests to help give me and others some ideas on how to model them. Thanks.

| If so, how about the Ulli Leitpold model for the Wolf Priest, if you can get your hands on one? He's got the look and is wearing a fur cloak. He is wearing a gambeson, but I'd ignore that and treat him as unarmoured myself.
If not, a kitbash from the mercenaries kit would be the way I'd go. Plenty of opportunities to jazz it up and make it look a bit different by using parts from other suppliers. Puppetswar Norse and Cossack heads spring to mind. As do Spellcrow wolf cloaks. Another option could be some of the spare parts you get when you buy some of the Blackchapel Miniatures' Wulfland models.

Nope, it doesn't have to be. GW is mostly what I know which is part of why I am asking for advice - Citizen Sade wrote:

I actually have been collecting the Mordheim minis for a while now, so I have almost all of them. I never thought of using Ulli but I really like that idea. I hadn't checked out Puppetswar before but they actually have a model called a Wolf Priest. Looks pretty cool. Does anyone have this model? Any ideas on the Priest of Taal?

| Thanks guys,
I have never seen some of those minis before.
Didn't know the Taal Priest was basically a Druid but makes sense after re-reading his description. Thanks for the ideas.
Does anyone play with Ostlanders and the Taal priest? Haven't come across too many battle reports for them. How do they rank up?

| I think the Ostlanders are a more popular warband to collect than to play. In fifteen years only one player has tried them in our group and he never finished a campaign with them. | |

| I play a Priest of Taal in my Horned Hunters warband. The Ale-spell in combination with an Ogre hired sword alone won me one of the few games I managed so far. The Ostländer even have an Ogre in their list. Modelwise, I just used my witch model, even if it's not wysiwyg. But before I decided on the witch, I did browse the net a bit and found both nice models, artwork and kitbasching. They range from "nice druid" all the way to "crazy old bastard". Edit: This is the first time I use this new uploader, sweet. Red Box Games and Otherworld are also worth a look, I just don't manage to upload the pics directly from their sites. | |

| For the priest of Taal I´m going to use the Bretonian sorceress, as I wanted to reflect certain "naturalistic" feel without looking too much "barbaric". Here is the mini: (The painting job is not mine ofc!) | |

In fifteen years only one player has tried them in our group and he never finished a campaign with them. Is there a particular reason they are viewed as weaker than the other human mercs? - Grimscull wrote:

Very cool Grimscull Your priest with the stag horns is awesome. How do you find the Ostlanders perform in your campaigns? - Jymmy wrote:

Jymmy, I actually like that model. Its more priest and less warrior priest. This is great, keep them coming!

| @DeafNala and Reolus: maybe I wasn't clear enough, but the models shown are not mine. I just found them on the net and kept them for later inspiration. I put them here because I thought someone else might like to see what others are up to. Me, I just use the witch (front center, this one IS mine). And Reolus, I didn't play Ostländer, I used the Horned Hunters, which also happen to have the same Priest of Taal. They are rather strong in the beginning, but I assume their lack of armour and strong missile weapons will cost them in the later games (didn't get that far yet). | |

| That is a BEAUTIFULLY painted War Band, Dragonhunter. OUTSTANDING WORK! Thanks for the correction...you get a GREAT FIND instead, Grimscull. Your Horned Hunters are equally WONDERFUL...I love the Witch. VERY WELL DONE! You should post more of you creations. You have a SPLENDID style all your own. The feedback is something to motivate you as well...that's been my experience.

Leaving a comment, compliment, or advice in another Guy's thread is what being a good Fellow Forumite is all about. The occasional miscue is an error on the plus side. SO... WELL DONE, Grimscull!

Thanks for the clarification. I hadn't heard of the Horned Hunters before (just Googled them). They definitely seem interesting. Your warband is a cool assortment of models.

| Thanks for the comments gents.
@Grimscull--yeah the wolf is an old orc wolf rider mount (from when there were orc wolf riders). Its base is really just old, like twenty years of sitting on shelves, being stored in forgotten boxes, etc. Both models could use some updating on the bases.
