| A couple of swordsmen from a Reikland warband I'm working on. They were originally supposed to be test models for a colour scheme but they turned out quite nice so I'm going to stick with the mint-green spot colour and neutral colours for the rest of the model. After seeing these pictures I can see the feet could use some tiny amounts of weathering powder to tie them into their bases. I've got enough bits to make 4 marksmen and a couple of youngbloods but I'd like to add a couple of champions with pistols and a nice leader model. haven't decided what to use or how to make him yet. Also wouldn't mind converting a Mordeheimy-looking ogre to add a bit of visual flavour to the group but I'm a bit stuck on how to do it. The Ogre Kingdoms bulls just don't look right to me. Too brutal. I can't imagine one traipsing around Mordheim with a group of blokes. Maybe I could use one of the old, old metal ogres from the late 80's early 90's?

| Lovely painting, very atmospheric.
For your Ogre, how about one of GW's man-eaters? The Imperial one, perhaps?

| Wow, these are some of the best painted minis I've seen here in a long while. What basic colours did you exactly use for the green and the browns (the names and manufacturer I mean)? Concerning the Ogre, there is a new one about to be released by Westfalia Miniatures. The Halfling on its back has a hat fitting your Reikländer (that I had mistaken for Ostländer at first glance) | |

| That ogre is perfect! Thanks!
The basic colours for the browns were various mixes of Vallejo Model Colour English Uniform, German Camoflage Black Brown and Burnt umber. The tan colour was based with German Camoflage Black Brown, washed with a dark brown wash and highlighted by mixing in English Uniform and then Iraqui sand. The darker, grey brown was based with a 50/50 mix or Burnt Umber and English uniform, washed with a dark brown wash and then highlighted with Burnt Umber and London Grey mixes.
The green was VMC German uniform mixed with a dot of VMC Smoke, washed with a dark brown wash (a devlan mud type wash is the colour I aimed for) and highlighted by adding Iraqui sand into the base mix.
Thanks, mate! | |

| You're welcome. And many thanks in return for the colours. As I said, the Ogre is yet to be released but by the sound of it you have other models to concern yourself with until he is available. | |

| Me too, I'm planning on getting one myself. They got a website and also a Facebook page (that is updated more regularely).According to the Website there will be a kickstarter next month. So, Frostgrave needed about a month between kickstarter and release, but of course it could also take yeasr... That's why I said you might want to focus on other stuff first. Take a look at their sites, they got nice halflings also: http://westfaliafantasybattles.comhttps://www.facebook.com/Westfaliafantasybattles | |

| Gorgeous Reiklanders, it adds to the uniformity that they're all highlighted with the same light shade (Iraqui Sand or whatever...) | |

Yeah! It really helps. The skin is highlighted with it too. I always aim for a final highlight with a pure, unmixed colour. That way it ties the colours of the individual models together even if the mid tone mixes are slightly different ratios.

Cheers. They look like the old style GW ones.

| Thanks everybody. I've made some progress on the warband and also started on some scenery. My mate has loads of these buildings and was throwing them out so he very kindly gave them to me to repaint. | |

| That's a very kind mate indeed and you did the building justice. The weathering powder looks great or whatever it is you used on the base. | |

| Got some Marksmen finished. I've been busy painting some stuff for my friend (returning the favour for all the lovely buildings he gave me) and working on my board otherwise I'd have had a lot more done. I have 2 youngbloods with swords and another two marksmen to go before I have to buy another box or Empire Marksmen for my champions and leader. I'll keep posting progress shots here as it keeps my enthusiasm up. I get bored really easily otherwise. | |
